Re: Fan Works Explosion
I would like to read every episode's transcript with a hick/redneck interpretation. This is my ideal Dragonball.

Yeah, you're right, of course a Yankee from the state of Ohio, like I won't sound right. But at least it's an attempt to being in Goku's different way of speaking.
Plus, it should be an interesting contrast to Freeza, deeper voice and uses an extremely formal way of speaking. For Goku I'll be using a higher (but not too, high pitched voice) For example with Freeza, when he does his little laugh after I wrote the line after that as "Shall I, perhaps incinerate the kid now?".

Have you ever actually been to the south? I've never met anybody who honestly speaks that unintelligibly. Son Goku doesn't speak that hickish in the manga.Rocketman wrote:As an actual hick/redneck,SSJ4 Furanki wrote:You're gonna regret that...

That's kind of what I was thinking. His speech isn't completely incomprehensible, he just sounds a little funny sometimes from the little Japanese that I know. It's certainly not that bad, and probably shouldn't be quite that thick.Innagadadavida wrote:Have you ever actually been to the south? I've never met anybody who honestly speaks that unintelligibly. Re: Fan Works Explosion
Well, Rocket started off the bat that he was going for the -actual- Redneck/hick thing... seeing as he's from there. It may be thicker than the original poster was looking for, but he offered a counterpoint to those of us who've never been around actual hicks.

I think that kind of accent is closer to what Yajarobe has.

Yajirobe is Japanese. If he spoke English he'd have an Engrish accent.Blue wrote:I think that kind of accent is closer to what Yajarobe has.

Erm...what? In the subtitles Yajarobe has a thicker accent then Goku but it's in the same style.Innagadadavida wrote:Yajirobe is Japanese. If he spoke English he'd have an Engrish accent.Blue wrote:I think that kind of accent is closer to what Yajarobe has.

I really like your job with the motion lines, Jaetinh. Very nice

Actions have reactions so don't be quick to judge, you may not know the hardships that people don't speak of.

Hmm they may not be traced but they are copied.

So what? I can draw as good a picture of Goku without looking at the manga books. I just like to draw while looking at the manga books.DBZ MAN wrote:Hmm they may not be traced but they are copied.
You try to do the same. I've already seen a lot of drawings around in this forum where people copy original art works and I must say mine's a bit better.
Looking at a small picture in the manga books and try to draw it big on an A4 paper is pretty difficult you know.
btw I must admit that the Shikamaru one is a pretty bad. I suck at drawing Naruto and One Piece.
Re: Fan Works Explosion
You have much talent.
Try to evolve your art into your own style and keep practicing. Practice is the key to develop drawing skills.
For those of you who don`t know, Akira Toriyama has once said that when he was little he developed the habit of drawing the things he wanted. And he drew them over and over and over again until he got them or until something else interested him. He admitted that habit was a very important reason why he became good at drawing (much practice).

Well, he did say his Shikamaru drawing sucked.Blue wrote: Hurray for humility!
And BTW, coping a small image onto a big piece of paper is actually hard. The character's body can come out really unproportioned if you're a bad artist.
Re: Fan Works Explosion
I'm not having a go at you but I'm just saying if I want to see that art, I'll just look at the original authors work and not some lesser attempt at a carbon copy. I have done it in the past to refine my skills (which I'm sure is what you're doing) but I try to do something as fresh with it as possible. It's a bit boring to look at the same pose done over and over again by different artists. How about something new and not done before? Sure it's contradictory since it is fan art but when I see fan art I want to see something new with it (check out Announcer Guys DBZ art).

To me, copying is just as 'bad' as tracing; it gives you the exact proportions and pose.

But it is much more difficult and takes much more skill to copy something than to just trace. You have to have a good grasp of proportions to copy a pose. You may already have the proportions and pose in the original...but you still have to re-create it on your own in (usually) a different size.
