I dunno about you guys, but nothing said here has made me NOT want to see the film. It just makes me wanna see it even more to see how it all actually plays out. Julian said Vegeta gets his moment, even if he doesn't land the final blow.

Vegeta didn't walk away because he couldn't breath,not because Freeza beat him down.

Because Freeza outplayed him. Vegeta either didn't or couldn't stop Freeza's tactic of blowing up the planet to secure victory. Vegeta's failure to stop Freeza's tactic resulted in his death.

Ergo, Vegeta lost. He failed to prevent the successful completion of Freeza's objective. That's what a loss is.

Well death is something pretty pointless in the series since they always revive but I don't feel like is "cool" showing a character death because we always think:
"Nah, he will be revived"

So there's no emotion at all

I can't really remember, to be honest, so don't hold me on that one.
Maaaybe something about the time he needs to charge the time machine? Really, I could be imagining it.

Why didn't Goku or Whis just save Vegea before th explosion. How did Goku even survive it?

I will give Freeza props for getting his head out of his ass and just blowing up the planet when he knew he was gonna lose, didn't save him in the end but at least he was smarter about it this time than when he did it on Namek.

That makes me wonder if anyone saw it coming. Shouldn't Goku have foresaw he'd probably try and do that again. I hope that is mentioned as that was almost exactly what happened on Namek. If Goku cared about earth and it's people, he'd probably know right away that Freeza might try and pull that stunt again.

There's a wonderful interview linked on the main page that features Toriyama talking about his distaste for the anime adaptation turning Goku into that sort of hero. Goku has always been a fairly selfish hero in the original work. He's more concerned about fighting strong guys than saving the world.

I know that, but his family and friends are dead. He ain't a super hero, but I don't see him as that selfish. He should know right away as a Martial Artist of what Freeza is capable of. He should know one of Freeza's tricks to beat him would be to blow up the planet. So he should have thought of that outcome.

No, manga is made solely by Toriyama, new DBZ movies are not. Toei as well doesn't have the exactly same staff as it had while producing Dragon Ball Z anime series, and even those who stayed there have different set of skills now, some became worse, some became better.

So basically the main new info is Goku winning.....through Whis hax? That is disappointing and cheap. Death means even less now.

So when Vegeta takes advantage of Freeza's weariness, that counts as a near victory. When Freeza takes advantage of Vegeta not being able to breathe in space, that doesn't count. I'm not making much sense how this "All's fair in war" works when it's tailored to Vegeta being the only one allowed to take advantage of a weakness that was spoon fed to him by Goku.

Going by the leaks he only seems to go Super Saiyan. No word yet if he just doesn't go Ultimate, or if he can't.
