Monaka is dull. He's worse than Cabba is, but both are terrible. Monaka is the Mr. Satan joke done a bit differently, except not as funny as Monaka has no charisma unlike Satan. I hope he doesn't return. Mr. Satan's arrogance, cockiness, and wimpiness add to the joke of him being a super powerful guy in the peoples eyes, but is actually really weak. It's made funnier when the people of earth are so stupid that they buy anything he says. His extreme luck also helps add to the joke. Monaka was never funny. The only thing I like about him is that for once the weak looking guy, is weak.Anime Kitten wrote:To me, Monaka is dull and boring. I prefer Monaka. I would've liked him even more if Monaka kept fooling the Z-fighters. Mr. Satan got on my nerves with his cockiness. He keeps getting himself in these situations on purpose and I hope he gets killed one day because of it. At least Monaka keeps doing these things on accident or because he has to. The only time I liked Hercule was in the Boo saga.dbzfan7 wrote:Monaka is dull. He's worse than Cabba is, but both are terrible. I don't think we've seen enough of Cabba to say he's boring. Right now he seems like a duller Gohan, but we'll see.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

I have to agree with dbzfan7 in this regard. Monaka basically existed for the sole purpose of Toriyama swerving the audience in regards to the whole "small and meek looking characters are actually really strong". As far as I'm concerned, if he should never appeared after the tournament. He already delivered his punch line, so to speak.dbzfan7 wrote:Monaka is dull. True. I know this isn't about GT, but Hercule did way too much there. I hope Monaka doesn't do the same thing in Super.

I'd rather see Mr. Satan as at least he can make the joke funny. Monaka's other jokes are fainting, and big nipples, neither of which are really funny. Seeing him win the battle between Goku, Luffy, and Toriko was much funnier than Monaka beating Hit, which was basically the 18/Satan thing again, but with less layers.Lord Beerus wrote:I have to agree with dbzfan7 in this regard. Mr. Satan doesn't get on my nerves as we know he's a loser. He's not strong. He's not actually cool. He's all hype and nothing else. He does have a heart deep down as we saw, but he's never treated as an arrogant awesome person who the story paints in a positive light as the greatest thing since sliced bread. It's cocky characters who are incredibly unfunny, lame, and obnoxious, but aren't treated as such is when I hate those kind of characters. Like douche hog who's essentially became that, and then some. Monaka from what I've seen, has no personality or anything interesting about him. He's Mr. Satan lite. But I understand that cocky characters are annoying to some people. I agree and understand that hate, but I have some exceptions to when I like it.kinisking wrote:I prefer Monaka. I think we've seen enough, but it's not like my mind can't be changed. It's my current verdict, not final say of what I think about him. He's got time to win me over, but right now he hasn't. Only Hit and Magetta I like out of the 5.

Yeah, Monoka really didn't do much
There's nothing about him that's unique. He doesn't have any personality and he's the Mr. Satan joke with everything good about it taken away. Whereas, Mr Satan can be lovable at times. He's like Kagome from Inuyasha. Both can be EXTREMELY unlikeable and can annoy the living hell out of you. At the end of the day though, they both have made contributions to the plot to help it progress.

The underlined misconception is getting out of hand in this place. I'll be creating a thread regarding this in the General section, in the next few hours.dbzfan7 wrote:Monaka is dull. Regarding the topic at hand. I think only Beerus and Whis are the "new" characters with impact enough to carry a special on their own. The others mentioned have so few screen time, that I doubt Toei would think about making a special about any of them.
As for me, the dream is a special about either the original Piccolo Daimao conflict or Kame-Sennin early days. It would begin with Mutaito's training and end with the fight against Gohan.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I know that's not always the case. It is an exaggeration. It's a common trope but not something Toriyama always does.LightBing wrote:The underlined misconception is getting out of hand in this place. I also agree that Beerus and Whis are the only characters strong enough to carry a special out of all the new characters. Everyone else hasn't been around long enough, nor is interesting enough.

By douche hog do you mean sonic? And I agree, Monaka is a more 2-d character than Mr.Satan. I just think Mr.Satan's gotten old and his gags take up a lot of time. While Monaka's are usually faster and still at least a little interesting.dbzfan7 wrote:

I don't really like Cabba either but I think he has potential. I could see his character developing like Gohans so I'm excited. Right now I like Frost and Hit. As much hate Frost got, I think him being deceitful is more interesting than him actually being nice.
I disagree. Hit could definitely hold a special on his own. He already seems popular and I think they'res a whole lot more interesting story lines that can be introduced from his assassin background.Regarding the topic at hand. Yes that's why I had the name in blue. It's my example of where that kind of attitude can be very annoying. Mr. Satan would bug me if he actually was super amazing, could back it up, and always acted obnoxious. He's a loser, sucks, and we know he isn't shit. That's why he doesn't bug me (Hell I deal with someone like that almost every day). The Z Senshi knowing he sucks added to how funny it was to see him fail. They know he's an embarrassment. Yet when he pulls through legitimately, it's even more hilarious. Monaka to me was just never funny, at all.
Like I said, I haven't concluded my final thoughts on him. He could win me over, but I doubt it. I'll see where he goes.

Monaka did what he was needed to do. The fact that he was always so zoned out is what legitimized him in his role. It was like he was "getting in the zone" at all times. I have no problem with Monaka in the role he was used.Bansho64 wrote:Yeah, Monoka really didn't do muchThere's nothing about him that's unique. That said I hope it doesnt become a running gag with a bunch of screen time. I'd be fine with a pop in by Monaka every now in then and/or a run in with Goku in some appropriate spots.
I hated Mr. Satan in the Boo Saga but I've grown to like him.

Just as a reminder.
Battle of Gods was announced/teased on July 7 2012 and Resurrection F was announced/teased on July 14 2014.
If there's going to be a new movie for next year then there might be an announcement in a couple weeks time again.

We should get one on 21 July 2016, going by that pattern. (Edited)

Maybe we will could get another Path of Power type of movie. By re-telling the Pilaf saga with another character. Curse of the Blood retold the Pilaf saga with a new bad guy, Path of Power retold the Pilaf saga with the RR Army and DBE somewhat retold the Pilaf saga with Piccolo Daimao. What if they did it again with Radditz.

I'm expecting something Super related with the Dragon Ball Z label.
But something with Raditz would certainly be interesting.
