I don't expect anything to be announced next month, we have Dragon Ball Super running with new content, I don't think they/Toriyama are planning anything more. But it'd be interesting if turns out I'm wrong, though. Still, I'll only be excited if it is a new thing, not bringing randomly a villain from the past to do nothing with him.

There was nothing indicating Resurrection F was going to be announced(BoG had that D countdown thing, and then, nobody knew it was directly DB related until Shenlong stuff was unearthed from the site's code). There's actually two things that indicate a third movie could be announced, if you read the last page.

You're right. They're almost guaranteed to be in it.

There's no indication of anything with Super running, but that doesn't necessarily mean there won't be another film.

It's possible Toriyama taking so long to write the Future Trunks Arc of Super was because he was pulling double duty with a film script. It's also possible that Toei may do an original film by a different scriptwriter of their choice, they could remake the Champa Arc or even another anniversary film like Path to Power.

We have no way of knowing right now, but the point is that we're reaching that time of the year where the previous two films were announced. It's okay to keep an open mind about a potential reveal next month, so long as we all keep our expectations in check and don't set ourselves up for disappointment. If you do, that's on you, because there's no promise of a new film.

No, there were incorrect translations of Yamamuro saying that it would be a trilogy of films. All he really said was he would like to make a third film, not that anything was actually in the works.

They said they wanted to make one but didn't confirm if they were already working on one or not and they also said that if a new movie is made it'll be written by Toriyama.

It's flop if they did that. Path to Power was one of the lowest grossing movies itself.

Nah I definitely don't think they'd go that route. If there's gonna be any retelling they'd turn the Champa arc into a movie and that wouldn't do aswell as the previous two movies either.

They tried turning a arc into a movie with two of the One Piece movies and they also flopped.

I'm sure it'd be an original story but whether Toriyama would write it if he's busy with Super I don't know. If someone else writes it he at least needs to do the character designs.

Anything but an original canonical story with Toriyama's involvement is going to be a big step backwards.

I'm not getting my hopes up but if it's a new movie I hope it's an original one unrelated to Super like the old DBZ films. It's not going to end well if they try to tie it in with Super unless it's in a universe we'll never explore, but then again how would that be possible if it's about Goku?

I'm doubting a new movie at this point. But anything could happen. If it's good I'll like it and if it isn't good I'll dislike it.

The focus seems to be on the tv series right now, and it's working for them. They're making more money than with the movies, and barely started to work on overseas licensing. There's no logical reason to expect the extra effort for a movie at this time. Maybe they announce a movie next year, to work as the series finale in 2018 or something like that.

I'm like a 100% sure they won't remake that arc too. To advertise a movie written by the original author when they advertised the tv series the same way would be a tough sell, let alone the cases you've mentioned. Toei is very aware remakes don't bring the same audience, just hardcore fans care about getting better animation. It's a waste of effort.
I wouldn't call OP movie 9 a flop, but compared with the box office from the following movies, with original stories, it did pathetic. There's a strong reason Toei has been keeping their "retelling" movies on tv now, even adaptations of arcs from years ago didn't work on theaters.

Personally hoping for tv special more than movies. I want one with Jaco, Minus, and even Future Trunks if they can make a good story out of it. I wouldn't even mind if they did something like Pokemon Chronicles where they tell different stories from the side characters.

The only new tidbit it says is something like [spoiler]"The battle kept heating up and Goku Black found a time machine!![/spoiler]

Yeah, just a little bit of info in that tidbit. Black suddenly appears in the present and begins fighting with Gokuu. As they're raising their power and the battle's heating up, Black notices the time machine.

So I guess we can infer that Black seeing the time machine is going to be significant...will he just recognize it as the method Trunks used to escape him, or will he do something about it (like destroy it)?

My predictions based on this and the pink card for #50 is. [spoiler]black figures out how trunks got there and may possibly destroy or try to destroy the time machine. I think it will be destroyed, and the ring would be the only way to get to the future. Hence path to the sealed future part of the episdoe title.[/spoiler]
