If it's not against the rules, would anyone mind posting up the DVD to Blu-Ray featurette thing?

Or each of the *.1 and *.2 releases means 9 seasons. The breakdowns in that fashion are very close to the break down of the season sets. So, when they finally start releasing a whole "level" in a single box, they will be ordered close to the season sets I'm guessing.Castor Troy wrote:It looks like we're getting around 18 releases according to the back of the box.

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Good, I'll be waiting for that. I definitely want to own these blu-ray releases, but for know I am content with my Dragon Boxes. I can wait it out for season (whole level) releases. BTW, how's the audio with the American broadcast music? I hope it's good.ect5150 wrote:Or each of the *.1 and *.2 releases means 9 seasons. Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
In an unusual case for FUNi, the back of the box actually goes into pretty explicit detail of the episode counts for the entire release:
1.1: 1-17
1.2: 18-34
2.1: 35-51
2.2: 52-67
3.1: 68-83
3.2: 84-99
4.1: 100-15
4.2: 116-31
5.1: 132-147
5.2: 148-163
6.1: 164-179
6.2: 180-195
7.1: 196-211
7.2: 212-227
8.1: 228-243
8.2: 244-259
9.1: 260-275
9.2: 276-291
1.1: 1-17
1.2: 18-34
2.1: 35-51
2.2: 52-67
3.1: 68-83
3.2: 84-99
4.1: 100-15
4.2: 116-31
5.1: 132-147
5.2: 148-163
6.1: 164-179
6.2: 180-195
7.1: 196-211
7.2: 212-227
8.1: 228-243
8.2: 244-259
9.1: 260-275
9.2: 276-291

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
It's funny, that's a lot of releases, eighteen in total, and if Amazon's price holds steady across all, one could reasonably assume to spend around 370 dollars on the entire series. That's somewhat steep, but that's still lower than people paid for one half of the series in Dragon Box form in the early 2000s! That's sort of mind-boggling that we will now have two high-quality releases of the series in North America that one can get at a reasonable price (assuming you got Dragon Box 2 on time!), releases all segments of the fan base should be happy with since the Blu-Ray has the American score. I'm still content with my Dragon Boxes, but I have to say, it's a very neat time to be a DBZ fan; access to the series in pristine quality has never been easier.

Why do people keep saying this? Is it wasn't for Japanese fans also, they wouldn't include the Japanese audio.dprez wrote:Meh, just a sleek release for the fans of the funi dub who want everything to be as high-tech as possible.
Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
I guess it stems from the assumption that the majority of people who buy this will watch it in English because of the dub. While it's most likely from either wanting to see something in a language they understand or laziness. Psst! It's the latter!Pokewhiz7 wrote:Why do people keep saying this?

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
Because it defaults to the dub and only uses its title cards and credits, and I for one find it quite jarring to, for example, see the words "The New Threat" displayed in the center of the screen in large print, but hear the narrator say "Mini Gokû wa obotchama! Boku Gohan desu.", which doesn't even remotely have the same meaning.Pokewhiz7 wrote:Why do people keep saying this? In general, I don't like the idea of merging any dub-specific element with the Japanese version in any way.

But they obviously know some Japanese fans will buy it, otherwise they wouldn't have included the audio.
Quite honestly, I think there should be Japanese title cards, but I don't really give a flying fuck if there aren't; as long as I have the Japanese audio and the episode content is uncut, I'm good to go.

True enough. I'm just in that minority of picky fans, anyway.Pokewhiz7 wrote:But they obviously know some Japanese fans will buy it, otherwise they wouldn't have included the audio.

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
Well I think this a rare exception. At least in other shows FUNi releases with English title cards the titles at least resemble the Japanese name for the episodes. It can be really bizarre seeing such a contrast between the titles.

Didn't they redo the text for the title cards with this release? Or am I totally imagining seeing the screenshot I thought I saw?AgitoZ wrote:Well I think this a rare exception. It would have been neat if they would have just changed the titles altogether. I can't imagine anyone would be upset if Funimation revised their episode titles to be more accurate.

Just thought I'd mention that Level 1.1 is part of one of the promotional bundles that FUNi will have available for two weeks each over at Rightstuf. It includes the 1st One Piece collection and 1st part of Fairy Tail. So you get your DBZ fix, get another good show, and a, um, another show. I guess the bag it comes with is decent too.
There are couple of others as well.

Seems like a good deal to me. And yeah, I've never heard of Fairy Tail either.AgitoZ wrote:Just thought I'd mention that Level 1.1 is part of one of the promotional bundles that FUNi will have available for two weeks each over at Rightstuf. I have. It's a-- sorta--um, generic? No, it's not bad per say, just nothing really sets it apart.DanielGClapp wrote:And yeah, I've never heard of Fairy Tail either.

Looking forward to it, I didn't get a chance to pick it up yet... last piece of DB merch I bought was Dragon Box 7.. now I'm really on the fence about picking these up.VegettoEX wrote:It's coming this week.
