I'd chalk that up less to Sabat "getting them back" and more the game dubs not being as high a priority or having the resources and planning needed for the anime, meaning lesser characters fall to the waysides when it makes things easier.Dbzfan94 wrote: Tue Mar 12, 2019 5:18 pm Going by the recent games, Sabat already got Burter and Jeice back. Thing is, the guy already needs $100,000 just to get a chance at this. That's a pretty big gamble if all he's looking for is money. Heh...it WOULD be great to have some closure on everything that happened, though.Gyt Kaliba wrote: Tue Mar 12, 2019 9:44 pm So basically it'd just be money (as I assume he's going for libel against them all?) and the hopes of 'clearing his name' enough to hopefully get re-invited to cons again in the future and be eligible for more acting gigs at other companies?

How am I supposed to know? And it's not like it will be a big loss if Mignogna doesn't voice Omega anymore. Nobody claims to "know it". Everyone here is equally an outsider to the situation. Even still, you're not entitled to a response. If you ask and nobody has an answer, they probably either don't know any more than you do, or don't care enough to answer. Continuing to ask over and over is just annoying, it won't get you anywhere. Again, ask this question on /r/sonicthehedgehog, or really any dedicated Sonic forum. Try The Sonic Stadium. They think they know fucking everything.Young-Jah wrote: Tue Mar 12, 2019 9:57 pm Hey, it just people don't respond to my comments, cause they think they know it, but they don't explain me what will happen.

I kinda happy for the guy. Vic Mignogna's was recently invited to Haiwaii Con so, at the very minimun if this end of the guy's career he's at least recieving one last chance to appear in an environment it look's like he honestly enjoyed.
Re: Vic Mignogna
Mignogna's happiness is irrelevant in the face of his actions, and that con letting him attend was very irresponsible given the nature of what he's done. Yes let’s pretend Mignogna is the victim here and isn’t responsible for what happened to him. That’s the ticket

True. However I doubt anything will happen. Besides the convention said they already looked into it. I doubt a bunch of people telling him they enjoyed his work in whatever could cause that much harm.TKA wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2019 11:56 amMignogna's happiness is irrelevant in the face of his actions, and that con letting him attend was very irresponsible given the nature of what he's done. Sure, and while I do agree that it wouldn't be fair to insult the guy for no reason, he hasn't really shown he's washing his hands and turning over a new leaf on this. It feels pre-emptive to me.Son Dragon wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2019 12:20 pmA straw man's fallicy. Anyway there's nothing wrong with offering a person mercy every now and then. This reminds me of an old Chris Psaros article on DBZU where he was angry because he felt that half the show was voiced by Chris Sabat. Re: Vic Mignogna
For whatever it's worth (probably not much), given how much more extremely public these accusations are now compared to the whispers behind closed doors/rumors posted online and then gone quickly after nature they were in before, I would hope that any con he's being invited to now would at least be watching EXTREMELY closely wherever he went. That and, if Vic really does wish to try and show he's 'changing', then absolutely no new pics of him embracing fans should come out of this new con (since he's already said that's not happening anymore, just 'for his own good', sooo...).TKA wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2019 11:56 amMignogna's happiness is irrelevant in the face of his actions, and that con letting him attend was very irresponsible given the nature of what he's done. I'm in no way defending a con inviting him mind you, I'm just saying that given what a shitstorm this has turned into no matter what side they fall in, I hope to Kami that con is prepared for whatever fallout might come from his invitation, one way or another.

Re: Vic Mignogna
Not to mention doing most of the trailer narration for home releases around that time, as well as being like...half of the background Namekians on Namek, Nappa for a short scene (and maybe in the Bardock special as well, I forget), Zarbon when it got to him in flashbacks/Bardock special, and Guru too. I don't think there was a single episode without his voice in it in the early days (hell, for a while there, I don't think there was a single product out of FUNimation that didn't have his voice in it somewhere, along with Laura Bailey's).MasenkoHA wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2019 3:37 pmI mean in s3 alone he voiced like...most of the Ginyu Force, Porunga, Shenron, Kami, Piccolo, Vegeta, Yamcha

Any time they were in need of a deep voice they went to him. Man their talent pool was shallow back then.

Re: Vic Mignogna
I forget which of the three made the joke, but I remember it being said that outside of Schemmel as Goku and Nadolny as Gohan, basically all the other deep male roles went to Sabat and all the light and 'weird' male roles went to Strait or McFarland. Then all the female roles were one of the like three women they had on staff (prompting one of them to also crack the joke 'got a vagina? We've got a role!').ABED wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2019 4:06 pm Any time they were in need of a deep voice they went to him. Man their talent pool was shallow back then.
I'd probably be among the few who'd actually watch it, and I'm aware they might sugarcoat it to some degree, but I'd actually totally love to see a documentary detailing just either FUNimation's growth as a company from their humble beginnings, or even one just focused entirely on Dragon Ball's struggle and rise in coming to the US. We've gotten DVD releases of documentaries on He-man, TMNT, and the like in recent years, it'd be great to see a similar release happen for Dragon Ball, especially if the filmmakers were able to talk to a lot of people from the fansub side of things way back when too, or even just people that were around in the fandom during that timeframe (like some of the staff on this very site).
