You are exactly right though, without Whis time travel in the end Freeza does in fact win.
But he doesn't win. That's like saying that without everyone's energy kid Buu wins.
What they mean is that without time travel the heroes lost. Yes Freeza looses in the end but he beat both Goku and Vegeta, one after the other with his own power. Goku only wins in the end because he used a senzu and had Whis use time travel. So Goke had to cheat to beat Freeza.

I assume from the spoilers that there is no set-up for EOZ to follow this movie right? Meaning that the 3rd movie will most likely take place before EOZ?

I'm VERY happy about it.
Even since Vegeta didn't get the win, I'll be happy if Freeza serves as Vegeta's punching bag for a while.
Well at the very least you'll get that for some period of time as Vegeta does get some hits in this movie to say the least.

I'm here!
I do like that magenta Gokû in F outfit. Very much. :3

Caught up!!
Wow is this a lot of pages since this morning.

-So, I can deal with the blue ssj, but I'm still sticking with low power ssjg Gokû as my avi.

-of all things, I'm curious about that spoiler art in Julian's twitter feed with the hand holding. I'm so far from those days but man does that bait my curiosity. I'm sure it's something dull like they just teleported that way, but it still makes me grin and I want context.

-the idea of only Gokû having memories of what originally happened (aside from Beerus and Whis) is hauntingly intriguing to me.
On hiatus.

Wasn't there a comment about Frieza "losing the battle, but winning the war"?

Good point you're making, if he's dead either way how does he win. Maybe before the time travel Freeza atleast ties but not wins, Interesting thought.
Well, Dr.Gero kind of died in Future Trunks' timeline. But he also kind of won :(

Maybe what that dude meant when he said "Frieza lost the battle, but won the war" was that Frieza actually did manage to defeat Goku and Vegeta, and blow up the Earth. He got his revenge. It just so happened these guys are ****ing cheaters and no longer have any pride--unless they were holding back, and that's where blue SSJG comes in. : D

In the end, Whis had to step in. Neither Goku nor Vegeta properly defeated him... based on the leaks, anyways; they failed on their own.

Goku "won," but only with help from Whis. Everyone got help this time around. Sorbet helped Frieza, senzu beans were a thing, etc. I guess I was hoping for something more elaborate.

Freeza didn't die from the planet bust. So in the end he beat Vegeta. He beat Goku before that. If not for turning back time, he won. Vegeta didn't win as he couldn't stop Freeza.

Things to ask Julian:

- What's the deal with that pic of Goku and Vegeta holding hands? xD Is that how Vegeta gets his power up?
- Any mention of Bulma being pregnant or she wanting another baby?
- Do Trunks and Goten appear at any point of the movie? and if yes, do they look a little more grown than before? Do they actually join the fight?
- Do we see more than a flashback of Future Trunks?
- Any mention of what Tights is doing right now?
- Does Bulma actually join the fight with advanced weapons vs goons?
- Do the cast interacts with Pan?

This movie has definitely defied my expectations from what I've heard. Nothing has come out of left field.

Piccolo interacts with Pan in a cute way. That's about all I can say for sure from those questions as he did in the manga, and Kei said something about it.

Nothing big, Goku and Vegeta are seen holding hands to trigger the new blue-haired Super Saiyans. Sharing Saiyan energy likely helps them start things up, even when it's just two Saiyans instead of six.

That's progress in the mastery of that form.
The first Super Saiyan God attempt (and as base form) required Saiyan energy to circle through six Saiyans.
Now they can trigger the Super Saiyan God as Super Saiyans by making the energy connect through only two Saiyans.

Frieza blowing up the planet because Vegeta was winning is essentially disconnecting in an online matchup right before you're about to lose. I don't see it as a win for him at all.

Or like in wrestling, when the heel champion hits a guy with a chair to get disqualified because he knows he'll lose and wants to keep his precious title.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

No that's not it. It's the same as a UFC fighter dominating an entire fight, and then one lucky punch knocks out the better fighter who was winning. The worse fighter still wins even if he clearly couldn't win without being lucky. In this case Freeza is lucky Vegeta can't survive in space.

Not really, theres a rather big difference between rage quiteing and planetary annihilation.
