"Dumb" Goku at least seems to have mostly disappeared under this new script writer that we got for the Trunks arc. Battle horny Goku is here to stay though, since it's pretty clear Toriyama really wants to avoid Toei creating a "super hero Goku" again like in the old movies and so that aspect of his character is highlighted a lot.

I do wonder how some of you ever stood watching Dragonball/Z though. I generally agree with the criticism regarding the Pillaf gang in the Super anime, but even the fairly inoffensive scene of them putting out a fire in the newest episode got met with outright hate by a lot of people here. It really seems like you dislike any kind of humor removing the "seriousness" of the series, and the only reason the old shows get away with it is nostalgia.

I don't know I still feel that Goku actual characterization is too much over the top, I know Toriyama don't like that "righteous hero" aka Toei Goku, but I don't see as bad as what they're doing now, he's too dumb, he don't care about being selfish anymore, he didn't apologize Trunks for holding back against Black and letting he escape and I don't think he'll take this whole story serious at all, he's just playing.

Now that cells time machine is in it again that means his timeline is too, and the hero of the arc 'Bulma from cells timeline' if Future Bulma isn't brought back Trunks can just have a Bulma not ravaged by Blacks invasion.


Heck he could go there's and just experience the Rebuilding of the Earth without blacks invasion.

How did Goku let Goku Black escape? He was forced back into his own era. That's quite odd you want him to apologize for something that was outside of either party's control. It's especially telling that you're neglecting Goku took him seriously once his true personality was revealing itself.

Goku's more powerful transformations (SS3, SSB) drain his stamina and have time limits, so when he's fighting a new opponent he starts off in base form to gauge their power, observe how they fight, and look for a weakness. After he's figured out how to defeat his opponent, he powers up. It would be stupid to waste SSB just figuring out how an opponent fights, and then losing that power by the time he figures out how to beat them.

Also, his care free, playful attitude he has during fights has worked to his advantage and made his enemies into friends.

I think the only reason Goku was as hyped as he was before the fight began was because of what Trunks told him. He made it seem as though Black was this high level fighter who's even above or on par with the SS3 stage. Goku even tells Black to use his full power and that he would do everything in his power to make sure Black shows his full strength. That's why Goku got excited when he felt Black's ki increase, the fight was getting more interesting as it progressed because Black was becoming stronger. I don't think Goku was THAT impressed with Black's strength, since he asked Trunks if that was Black's full potential and thought of it as no big deal when Trunks confirmed that Black wasn't that powerful.

Trunks said that Black was more powerful in the future, so he confirmed that Black was strong. Goku and Vegeta just think they can handle him. And Goku's Super Saiyan 2 is way above it was during the Buu Saga. His base alone is on the level of Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks.

He said maybe a little stronger, and then Vegeta said then he shouldn't be a problem. But both Goku and Vegeta note that Black was holding back so they really don't know how strong he is.

It's possible that Black held back against Trunks in the future as well, so his power could be even greater than what Trunks assumes it to be.

Same here! The profile thing being on the right hand corner will take some getting used to on my end but it looks tons better! I will say that this high-tech interface makes the logo and header above look really old
