I wonder though how often he can use this gift though....kinda like Dio Brando and slowing time with ZA WARUDO!

Dragon Ball has his own Dio Brando, namely Guldo I don't think that Whis has any restrictions actually. If he had, I doubt that he would use it to help Goku so casually.

By restriction I mean he can't just keep looping back 3 minutes of time as he pleases. Perhaps he can only do it once an hour...or something like that. Then he can't exploit it in combat. I mean that kind of martial art is deadly since you can rewind your mistakes. If you could spam this move, then Whis could rewind every mistake he might make.

Ah, now I understand, I guess it makes sense for him to have such a restriction. What bugs me the most is Whis having this ability at all... I mean, who is he to have an ability of such a high level which can manipulate the time itself? I still think that he is somehow or in some form related to Time Kaioshin, or even is the Time Kaioshin of the past or from the another universe.

Well so long as it's reasonable I'm fine. We don't know exactly what Whis is. Out of context it sounds random for him to have this gift, however maybe he does for a reason. Maybe someone taught him and we'll learn of that person. I dunno. The multi-verse is a big place.....if we ever get to explore it.

Guldo is a mutant. As for Whis, we don't know Plus while Guldo's skill is very impressive, I think that Whis's ability is of a higher caliber.

Guldo was weak as ****, and his power had a horrible limitation. Whis not only possesses that broken ability, which at this moment doesn't seem to have any restrictions, but also happens to be the strongest being in the entire universe by such an insane margin, Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, and possibly even Beerus are all fodder to him.

I mentioned Guldo. Though I'm sure his powers were very taxing as if he had broken time powers, he wouldn't be considered the joke of the Ginyu Force.

Well one is a comic relief character who's power is completely ineffective due to how useless he is, the other is the most powerful being known to exist who can undo any mistake and change recent events however he sees fit. Whis is Toriyama incarnate in the Dragon Ball universe. Apples and oranges.

Whis time travel powers does in fact explain how he got the flashback of goku fighting frieza via his septre and finding the other saiyans also. So I was never surprised we'll see a further development of this as its simply an extension of what likely existed from the last movie, so it's not as 'made up on the spot' as some might think.

Nah, even after the summary, we'll still not get a lot of small details, besides one thing is reading a summary, and the other is watching the movie by yourself. Completely different experiences. To be honest, there weren't much things (from what we got from spoilers) to be surprised anyway. A lot of people predicted Whis using time rewind when 2nd chapter of FnF manga was revealed. A lot of people expected Goku to win, and Vegeta putting up a good fight. A lot of people expected Frieza destroying the Earth (heck, it was shown in the trailer) and being beaten by Goku again, with him maybe somehow even surviving after that. I personally expected to see someone from Jaco in this movie, and there was a fake art of Tights from FnF flowing around here quite a time ago. So nothing much to be surprised about so far

well, there's the thing about them being pretty normal, except for Cold and Frieza. Of course they aren't going to explain everything about him.

Aren't they just some kind of rare mutants...or something like that? I don't think there is a Freeza race outside of Xenoverse.
