Yeah, ANN does that. They've written that based on the press release, and they'll keep using that text at the end of every news about Super (sometimes even if some new information contradicts it). Like when Ace of Diamond was already getting close to episode 60 or so and their news still claimed it would have 52 episodes.TripleRach wrote:The image in the article doesn't say anything about the timeframe for the story. Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
That's kinda standard for news reporting. We do the same thing. Every article is someone's first exposure to that specific realm of news. It's all about providing the necessary context for them.
(But yes, you should of course continue to be aware of what the news is, what the context is yourself, and be able to update it as time goes on and new information comes to light! Part of the "problem", I guess you could call it, with ANN is that they're so broad that they don't/can't have the granular understanding of each piece of news for each and every story about everything under the sun. That's how we ran into things like "The F in Fukkatsu" prior to this.)
The part about the time of peace comes from the original press release announcing the series.

And on the other hand it will follow Kai EOZ episodes directly. Pretty much why it's logical to asume it could be either. And honestly, I don't think they can keep adding in that 10-year period forever. It's gotta move forward eventually. Not to mention we ALL need more EOZ Goten in our lives so hurry up Toei/Torigarnetjester wrote:I think the most logical way to do it is after F, doing it after EoZ would be quite risky because it would involve putting other characters in the spotlight and testing the waters to see if fans would accept them or not.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I think that's probably more to do with advertising it for when it begins, as they mention it will get the same timeslot (which I think we pretty much guessed it would) so I don't think they're hinting at anything there.TripleRach wrote:The image in the article doesn't say anything about the timeframe for the story. In other words, we still don't know exactly when the story is set. But it may be worth noting that the page makes two different mentions of Super following Kai.
I would think we will know before V-Jump when it's set, the wait is hard lol. Post Z means zimmerframes lol.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
This is why I'm getting my hopes up. I really want them to move post-EoZ. We need older Goten + Trunks, new and improved NotGT!Pan, Uub, Bra. And of course, Marron. The poor girl needs to grow up soon.Basaku wrote:And on the other hand it will follow Kai EOZ episodes directly. Pretty much why it's logical to asume it could be either. Check out Journey's End, a short story of Goku and Vegeta's final days. "Time is running out for the last two Saiyans"

I'd love to be a fly on the wall at FUNimation right now. How are they going to tackle "Super"? I really hope they go all out and broadcast dub it, but for the immediate future, I'd happily settle for a simulcast.

I just want Funimation to have subs out while it airs in Japan on sites like Hulu and their own web site. I don't think a English dub will be out until next year. I know a lot of casual American DB fans prefer dub over sub, I think waiting a bit longer for a English dub won't kill them.

A simulcast would be amazing, I hope Toei would let them do it, I don't see no reason why they wouldn't. I do prefer the FUNi dub, but I fully expect to have to wait until next year at the very earliest for it.Hellspawn28 wrote:I just want Funimation to have subs out while it airs in Japan on sites like Hulu and their own web site. A simulcast is all that's needed for the immediate future.

Well yeah, it is most likely just a reference to the production and airing schedule. But it's done in large text and they do it multiple times, in addition to large text that states when and where it will air. I'm sure it's somewhat wishful thinking on my part, but I can't help feeling hopeful for post-Oob content after seeing this.DBZ_Lee wrote:I think that's probably more to do with advertising it for when it begins, as they mention it will get the same timeslot (which I think we pretty much guessed it would) so I don't think they're hinting at anything there.

How would you feel if it was right after F? would you still be looking forward to it as much?.TripleRach wrote:Well yeah, it is most likely just a reference to the production and airing schedule. I'm excited for new Dragon Ball no matter what, but no, stories set directly after F would not be nearly as interesting to me.DBZ_Lee wrote:How would you feel if it was right after F? would you still be looking forward to it as much?.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I see what you mean, I on the other hand, would love it to take place after F, there's so much room for growth with SSGSS and the fact Tien, Roshi and Krillin are back in action, I feel it would be a missed opportunity somewhat to jump that far ahead.TripleRach wrote:I'm excited for new Dragon Ball no matter what, but no, stories set directly after F would not be nearly as interesting to me.DBZ_Lee wrote:How would you feel if it was right after F? would you still be looking forward to it as much?.
It would be strange to think that due to them being trained by Whis for (what I am assuming) a long period of time, the Saiyans wouldn't surpass SSGSS in 5/6 years, would seem a bit strange to me, seeing how much Toriyama Sensei has really built up both Goku & Vegeta in these movies.
If Toriyama Sensei does go EoZ, and this new enemy is the strongest ever in DB, then they are going to have to have the other characters such as Goten, Trunks, & Uub be more stronger than SSGSS (assuming that is still the highest form at this point in time) in order to be able to actually hold their own against this new foe.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
While I do want to see Uub, I find it unlikely it will start out after EoZ because Toriyama has said he prefers the cast before EoZ. I guess it could lead into EoZ eventually, or they could slowly introduce new characters that will eventually become the focus of the show post EoZ along with Uub.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Toriyama Sensei was asked in a V-Jump interview (about Battle of Gods) why he chose the period he did, and he answered the following:
Then you throw GT into the mix, and things just get messy, if they do go EoZ, I will be surprised, but again, I'm still looking forward to this a hell of a lot, either way, I am still in shock, it is incredible we have a new DB Anime series
I'm amazed that Toei have managed to get Toriyama to do it, considering he wanted nothing to do with DB 7 years ago. (the last time Toei asked Toriyama to write a Story for a new DB Anime TV Series)
Given how popular Goku & Vegeta are, and with all of the development they were given in these movies, I just can't see them taking a back seat, and giving way to Teen Goten, Trunks et al.The fact is, I thought, “Man, I really made everyone old in the last chapter of the manga”. I even gave Vegeta a mustache (laughs). So, I chose this period because everyone had got to maximum strength. A few years after the “Majin Buu arc”, and before Pan’s birth.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
That's a moot point though because that's why he chose to place BoG where he did, but BoG is used to introduce a whole new world of power so that Saiyans can be much stronger than ever before, Resurrection F then shows that Goku and Vegeta are now growing stronger within that world of power and also serves as a great send off (as far as being fighters goes anyways) for the extended cast characters, like Kuririn, who have been irrelevant in fights for a long time and will now only be even more irrelevant. There is no reason Goku and Vegeta can't get even stronger after the end of Z, they even look as young as ever at the end of Z.DBZ_Lee wrote:Toriyama Sensei was asked in a V-Jump interview (about Battle of Gods) why he chose the period he did, and he answered the following:

Also he seems to weirdly be mixing up End of Z and GT, as Vegeta didn't have a mustache at the end of the series and other than his outfit he looked exactly the same as he did during the Buu arc.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I just found out High School DXD Born is getting a simulcast so if that can get a simulcast I wonder if it increases the chances of Super getting one.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Goku & Vegeta can still be main characters WITHOUT having rest of the cast be relegated to gags or fighting unimportant random henchmen. Look at Namek arc, Goku was still 'the main' character and everyone was waiting for him to arrive and beat Freeza, yet at the same time Krillin, Gohan & Bulma were actually driving the real plot and what they're doing is infintely more interesting than Goku's training in the Capsule. Trunks and Gohan had massive roles during Cell arc, Trunks carried so much of that story arc by himself the entire special devoted to him. Krillin/18s mini-romance plot has massive consequences for the course of the action.DBZ_Lee wrote: Given how popular Goku & Vegeta are, and with all of the development they were given in these movies, I just can't see them taking a back seat, and giving way to Teen Goten, Trunks et al.
Meaningul screen-time. This cast of characters is too big and interesting to give everything important solely to Goku/Vegeta.

Personally....i didnt really catch on to EoZ Goten. Maybe we dont really know much about him but I dont want a playboy Goten...I want the naive and innocent one.
Maybe its just me

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Playboy thing comes from GT. The only thing EOZ has is that he was suppoused to go on a date. Super can literally do anything with that 1 comment and develop Goten's character in many different ways. Quite exciting actually, Trunks doesn't have that 'luxury' as he's 'bound' by Future Trunks in some part. As for naive/innocent ehm he's a teen/young adult, let's not get too much into this nonsense western idea of "sex/romantic feelings = unpure, innocent & purity-robbing evil!" too muchchizzielamer wrote:Personally....i didnt really catch on to EoZ Goten. I think it has something to do with the way Fox treated him when he tried to give them advice regarding DB evolution.DBZ_Lee wrote:I'm amazed that Toei have managed to get Toriyama to do it, considering he wanted nothing to do with DB 7 years ago.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
