I always wanted the VHS tapes when I was younger but ended up not getting any, now that I have my own job and money, I decided to make it my mission to collect every single Dragon Ball/Z/GT tape from Funimation ever released. I was originally going to collect the DVDs, but I have the DragonBox, and the VHS tapes are older and seem more interesting to collect.

I'm all out of money now, but in the future I will be looking to complete my collection once I find out what I'm missing.

The only DBZ tapes I had were the Ocean dub taped off the TV. Which I then sent to kei17. But we'll not talk about that.

The VHS were worth having for the spine mural but now I just do not have the space for them.

Anyone want to negotiate their surrender?

I got some of the VHS tapes too due to the spine art, but I eventually gave them up for their DVD counterparts because I knew they'd last a lot longer. It sucks that I never completed my DBZ DVD collection, but I will be able to now with the DragonBoxes, though I still wouldn't mind finishing up my singles.

Anyway, my Mom surprised me with two late birthday gifts last night. They were DragonBoxes 2 & 3. I'm only halfway done, literally I'm on episode 21, with the first DragonBox, but it is nice to know I'm all caught up. Unfortunately she told me the store had Part 1, of DragonBall Z Kai on sale for $27.99, so I may just have to go pick that up before the sale goes off.

The first box is the only one that's open, so if you see weird marks/reflections on the second and third Dragon Box it is due to the shrink-wrap still being on.

My father bought me Dragon Ball Z Kai - Part 1 today, because Best Buy had a sale, which lowered its price to $29.99, which for once beat out Rightstuf!'s price. Usually my local Best Buy charges nearly the MSRP for anime DVD's and seeing a good deal in a store near me for once was awesome!

I can also finally let my Dad watch the dub and let him get an accurate script for once! Even after explaining all of FUNimations dialogue changes, he still would prefer to see a dub, but would watch in Japanese if that is what I wanted. That always made me feel bad, and I couldn't really bring myself to put my preferences before his, so now he can finally watch the show the way he wants to with the story being told as it was in the original Japanese scripts.

I got Dragon Ball Movie 3: Mystical Adventure and the remastered single for "A Final Solitary Battle ~The Z Senshi Kakarot's Father Challenges Freeza~" or as the dub calls it Bardock: The Father of Goku.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

At some point I think I would want to sell all my singles for DB/Z/GT and the movies [I've got everything that was releases] but now that there is Kai, the brick sets, and the DBoxes....I doubt anyone would give me anything decent for them. >.>

I finally broke down and bought Z Kai on DVD and I LOVE IT!!! It's like a brand new show, as far as the Dub and the Music goes. I even used it in (re)introducing my girlfriend to DBZ and she got so into it! She was super upset with how many of the Z Warriors died at the hands of the Saiyans. We finished Part 1, but it's just too bad the next set into due out untill September...

Boy, it's gonna be tough affording these sets AND the Dragon Boxes. After seeing Z Kai, I'm really not sure which has my priority more. Ohh, decisions, decisions.

Well, I'm focusing mostly on Kai. I mean, I love the Dragon Box footage, but I already have the first three, which were more than mandatory due to the first three "seasons" having eye-searing picture "quality" (more like a lack thereof). The Orange Bricks after that range from passable to pretty decent, so I am not in as big of a rush to own them. Kai is a much fresher product in terms of presentation, and so I'd much rather focus on Kai for now, and then pick up the Dragon Boxes down the road, since double dipping isn't really my highest priority right now.

There are also many other things I have to pick up, like the new Slayers series', Fist of the North Star volume 1 and One Piece, so I need to catch up those releases before I can even think about double dipping (even if the footage is gorgeous).

Another major reason, is that no matter how hard I try, I simply cannot get the "Season Three" dub out of my head! :P Seriously, whether I read the manga, or watch the series in Japanese, I always hear the "Season Three" voices and dialogue in my head, and it kills my enjoyment of that portion of the series!

I'm hoping Kai's dub will be able to kill that effect off for me once the dub reaches that point!

Gaffer Tape wrote: Oh, and Velasa. Why do you have that one tape turned opposite the spine art?
That one actually doesn't have the continued spine art because it wasn't bought as part of the normal release- I mailed away for it :D I can't remember the exact circumstances anymore but I sent some proof-of-purchase type things (likely from action figures or other tapes) and received that tape in the mail. It has two eps: Driving ep and "Z Warriors Prepare" which is mostly training for the Androids, and a recap featurette called "The World of Dragon Ball Z" on it. I'm quite fond of it despite being dub-only because I had to work for it.

EDIT- Oh yes, and on topic, this came in the mail today-

Gorgeous. I love the movies so this is a gem to have. That and I'm only missing #7 now ^___^ They look so purdy together on my shelf.

The tape you're referring to was the Burger King promo tie-in, wasn't it?

Quite possibly, around that time sounds right for when I got the tape.

Shin Budokai 2.

Fighting's alright, mostly got it because I can't play any of my PS2 DBZ games at the moment. The story is pretty much the dumbest DBZ-based story I have yet seen. Holy shit, i thought people were joking, but no.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. Would have been a lot better if they didn't try to cram every. single. playable. character. into the story mode. Enjoy it for the fun, fast, portable fighting system though.

"Fast" is debatable seeing as how the load times are worse then in Sonic 2006.
