I agree. I'm not expecting the ads and "OVA" and what have you. The TV specials would be nice, though. Honestly, since they aired in the TV show's timeslot, I would have preferred if they had been included in with the TV show in the places where they aired, but not even TOEI arranged them that way, so I knew FUNimation wouldn't. However, if they were there at all, I'd be pleased.

While watching my Dragon Box vol. 3, I noticed some very awful compression artifacts:

That looks nearly as bad as the old FUNimation single DVD's encoding...

Yeah, I've noticed them on every Dragon Box but only very rarely and in the highest-action sequences. Can't say if I remember noticing them at that precise moment. But I suppose it's practically unavoidable on occasion, isn't it, considering the strobing and other extremely fast-moving moments the show has?

As I didn't stare at the TV throughout all Three discs of the Freeza fight I didn't notice that!

Oh well. It's still a really good release.

If I saw that, I would have just assumed that they were moving at highspeeds and were like afterimaging or something.

Well... they are. The random arms and heads are part of the picture, but all of the macro-blocking and pixelation is not.

I think that might be the encoding problems we were all worried about when they decided on 7 episodes a disc.

The terribly microblocked frame of Nappa's face from DBox one was also on the Japanese release. I wonder if we can get one of you cool cats with the real Dragon Box to spot check that scene and compare it with the American Dbox.

My Box 3 is afflicted by the tape issue as well. Fortunately, only a small piece came off and I plan to color over it with highlighter. But still, quite a bummer for a release that is so perfect otherwise. Watched up until the conclusion of the Freeza Saga so far and loved it for the most part. It's been like eight or nine years since I watched this part of the Freeza Saga and it blows my mind how much the conclusion of Goku and Freeza's fight was bogged down by filler. Just re-watching that much has more or less convinced me to buy the Kai BD's in the future. Looking forward to Trunks, not so much the 10 episodes of Garlic Jr. to go through to get there.

Hi guys.

Sorry if it's a silly question, but does the purple portion of your Dragonbook/disc holder peel off? It's like the shiny purple colour paint will peel off if you kinda scratch it. Does it happen to your DBox or it is just mine? Thanks!

Well, mine is definitely going back, but I'm seriously pissed! Now I have to send it back to America and wait untill a new one arrives :S Plus new chance of taxes to be paid :S Fuck this, Funi! Fuck this! They really know how to screw an otherwise perfectly good release up!

Sorry for my outburst... I just had to let this out...

Yep, I recently noticed that exactly on my third Box and was about to panic, but soon realised that it's not that big of a deal.
What still annoys me a lot is that they forgot to colour Freeza's nails on the second Dragon Book!

This just seems like one of those moments where I'd go, "Hm. This is looking a bit difficult to take off without damaging something. Maybe I should look up a way to remove tape without damaging the packaging."

Indeed I do take it seriously. I don't pay for damaged goods when I buy something new.

Plus, I collect DVD's and Blu-rays, so not just DB(Z/GT). So, to me, the packaging is just as important as the discs. For instance, I'd gladly pay more for a Steelbook case of any movie instead of an Amaray case.

But still, something you buy new should look new. This is just damaged goods.

The other thing is, this tape issue isn't affecting all boxes. If this was just a standard "feature" there may, MAY, be some justification to saying "deal with it." But apparently only a small number of boxes are affected this way for some reason. Most of them still have the easily removable sticky globs. It's like a lottery, except instead of a prize you get a boot up the arse.

It's not like Dragon Box fans haven't dealt with less than perfect aspects before. A lot of us had to glue some of the packaging on the first Dragon Box on due to problems with that and we pretty much just got on with it because it was repairable. Having to colour in a portion of packaging with permanent marker is another thing entirely.

Just signed up to let people know that a heat gun or hairdryer can help get tape off. You still have to be careful but it's a lot better than just pulling it and hoping for the best.

Oh, it came that way? I thought you were saying you accidentally ripped it when you tried to take the cover off.

Well, it's kind of supposed to be removed. That's why it's attached like that, rather than printed on the box. You get the 'sell' on the back about how awesome it is, then you buy it, take it home and remove the wrapping and the sheet.

Not that I'm saying you can't keep it attached if you prefer it that way be it keeping things in exact condition, personal preference or whatever reason you have, but it's not like people are deconstructing the box then whining when they can't put it back together. It'd be like if tearing off the shrinkwrap damaged the box.
