Yeah, I guess I don't spend much time at forums other than this one. Maybe I would see that done elsewhere. Makes sense when you bring in Steve Blum. That guy is cool.

The only English VAs I would put up with Wakamoto are Steven Blum and Wendee Lee. But it's not really a sub elitist thing, since I wouldn't put too many Japanese VAs up there, either.

I know you weren't implying this, but I'm trying to imagine Steven Blum as Cell. It sounds even funnier in my head than when he played Goku!

You think that's funny? I had to re-read that a couple of times, while scratching my head and thinking "Wait, so he wants Wendee Lee to voice Cell? Whaaaa..." and then it slowly dawned on me what he was talking about.

There are plenty of English VAs who are way better then Steven Blum and Wendee Lee, they just don't do anime.

Yeah, that's probably true.

I think that Willingham sounded like Clarke's Cell in Raging Blast only. I think by the time we see Cell in Kai that Willingham will do his own thing in the role.

Yeah, I have a feeling he will do the "Perfect" voice throughout all forms for the most part, so that in future games they won't have the wrong sound bytes with the wrong forms (such as Perfect Cell with 1st form Cell sound bytes), due to only being able to record one set, as his voice is mostly the same in all forms in the Japanese version.

You think they would've fixed that by now. It's been like that since the first Budokai. That was 8 fucking years ago.

But I don't think they even care to alter the game code by inserting more voice samples into the game, and then adding code to activate whichever set depending on the form. Do we even know if there is room in the games for more samples?

That glitch always annoyed the shit outta me...

As I've mentioned before, I didn't know Willingham voiced Cell until someone here brought it up, as I was so fuckin' sure it was still Clarke pumping out the work.

Whether or not he continues to immitate what Clarke did or not by the time the Cell games rolls around, I'm positive he`ll bring his A-game.

It's not a glitch. In the Japanese version, Cell's voice itself remains pretty much consistent throughout each form, so in the games they only record one set of voices, and so they have to deal with that "limitation" when recording the dubbing for the games. It would probably be too much effort to have to recode a portion of the game just to get the voices to be consistent with the show for one character.

It's not the "Japanese Cast", it's... Norio Wakamoto... He's just... Norio Wakamoto...

And he's Not a "God". He's a Man of God.

But Tatum, he IS God... Both figuratively, and Literally.

Are we sure Willingham is doing Cell? I mean, the guy who did Dodoria (I think it was Mike McFarlane) in Raging Blast didn't do him for DBZ Kai, so the fact that he voiced him for the game doesn't confirm anything. Is there some other source?

Willingham's website states he is playing Cell in Kai. Can't get more official than that.

Well, that would be the source I was looking for. Thanks xD

And I found this on the Tube...don't know if he'll use this voice but if he does it doesn't sound like Clark.

Kind of unusual that FUNimation doesn't dance around the concept of "God" in their production of One Piece.

Not really, Kami as Guardian of Earth is just one of those few holdovers from the old dubs. Aside from the edited dubs, they don't really avoid any such references that I've seen.
