Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ in July
I dunno... the listing there specifically refers to this as a "redub," but the box art refers to it as the "original broadcast." Those two things are wholly incompatible. It can't be both. Oh, wait, what am I talking about? This is FUNimation. I could totally see them redubbing something and then referring to it as the "original broadcast." It wouldn't be the first time...

If it is coming out I hope they include extras of some sort that no one's seen before. Not exactly sure what they could throw in but it would be nice to differentiate this from the original release besides just video quality.
Edit: Now that I think about it since this is advertised as "the original broadcast" maybe they could include all the old Cartoon Network/Toonami commercials in high quality.

But they weren't originally broadcast on Cartoon Network.

Ah I guess you're right. Though here in the UK I believe it did broadcast first on Cartoon Network. At least that's how I remember it.Gaffer Tape wrote:But they weren't originally broadcast on Cartoon Network.
Well anyway it's just an idea. Hopefully they include something special with it.

Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ in July
maybe textless endings? It is a FUNimation release lol
Well..if It's uncut (and Z) it would be cool to see a side by side comparison of edited vs uncut. If this is a redub...is there a new Goku? Is it Kai goku? Is it kai?? It so very confusing!
If it's incut Z..I'd assume they'd use the FUNimation title cards so maybe all the old title cards could be a special feature, since they were visually interesting.
But what confuses me is that we know they've done Kai because a member here found someone who was not Scott McNeil and they mentioned it and Scott McNeil talks about it openly. I would of thought that since he coulda gotten confused since he mentioned Kai Buu way before it was announced...but it was announced and he talkins about how it doesnt take 20 episodes to throw a punch.
Maybe....It's kai and there going to show it uncut in Canada (I doubt it) or it'll be an edited DVD release?
Or were gonna get Ocean Kai, and Canada will get a new Ocean Z and Kai (which would totally rock!)

Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ in July
As I mention before, most likely due to fan demanded. Not to mention it seems like they are running out of things to releases since they need to keep their DB rights by making more DVD and Blu-Ray releases. I'm pretty sure we will get the DB movie boxsets and the GT boxes someday.Super Saiyan Prime wrote:

I'd love to see the concentrated fan demand that resulted in this potential product release.

Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ in July
You can never know what type of request that they get. They could have got e-mails over the past decade asking for the old dub back. Not every dub fan in the US is a fan of the 1999 - 2005 dub. I remember when the older US DBZ fans would bash on the Funi 1999 voice cast and were like "I wish they got back the old voice actors instead of this garbage".

Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ in July
I understand when people say ''Funimation is milking the series to death!'' and honestly, I'm okay with that.
Why wouldn't I want my favorite series released to me in every shape or form possible?
When Funimation releases those Dragon-boxes, or possibly this release, I'll buy them up. and I don't believe by doing this it will create bad products. sure the orange bricks sucked! but just look what we got in return
The level sets - which got canceled sadly
the Dragonball Z Dragon-boxes and possibly more!
I'm fine with the Blu-ray movies. I'd like to have Dragon-box: The Movies even more though
Dragonball Z kai - which to some people or many may be considered a failure, but I still bought them and loved them! and now I believe were going to be getting the boo saga of Kai?
for a long time I read some fans hated filler with a passion! then we get a release that cuts out the filler and people talk crap on it because of a musical scandal? I loved the Yamamoto score too but at-least now If I wanted to have a filler-less watch-through I could just switch to the Japanese language track and have the original music on Kai and be good to go.
I also hope ''IF'' this release is real we can get the 3 ocean movies re-released in great quality!
I believe I've gotten a little off topic again

I think the main point I was trying to make is ''Us Dragonball fans are never going to be satisfied...were a beast and that beast needs fed''

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

You can say that with any fan base. I remember some people were still bitching about the Dragon Boxes and how much money they were. Personally I'm a type of person that is happy with the stuff that we get.samuraix123 wrote: I think the main point I was trying to make is ''Us Dragonball fans are never going to be satisfied...were a beast and that beast needs fed''

Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ in July
I think it's like the Birds of Prey DVD set. The show failed but there was enough people to get a DVD release later on.
So..if FUNimation thinks there are people out there (this would *i assume* cover Canada as well) then there gonna make it) heck, maybe there will be a season 3?
More power to FUNimation if thats the case
However...get it quick! Cause it's gonna get canceled. It's very hard to go past the Saiyan saga test

Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ in July
I wonder if they will dub the Freeza saga - Buu saga with the Ocean cast if it sells well?
Maybe. Saban has been trying to get back their old franchises. The recent Digimon show (Xero Wars, I think I spell it right) is going to be on Nick soon and rumors that Power Rider might be another Kamen Rider show. Anything possible.eledoremassis02 wrote:Do you think this has anything to do with Saban working with FUNimation again?

It would be awesome, especially if it means getting more Shuki Levi music for new episodes (if it happens).Hellspawn28 wrote:I wonder if they will dub the Freeza saga - Buu saga with the Ocean cast if it sells well?

Close - it's 'Digimon Xros Wars', at least in Japanese. The English dub is calling it 'Digimon Fusion', most likely because fusion is easier to explain to kids than 'Xros' probably (and it's the same thing really, so not too big a deal in the long run).Hellspawn28 wrote:I wonder if they will dub the Freeza saga - Buu saga with the Ocean cast if it sells well?

Still not really sure what to think about the likelihood of this set. It's weird, I'm interested in seeing if it turns out to be true or not, even though I know it's not something I'd ever buy.

It would be cool if this dub was on Toonami. People been wanting DBZ back on Toonami for a while since I saw people saying "Toonami is not the same without DBZ".

I don't mind Funimation milking the series, because it will mean they can afford other licenses.
The problem is reintroducing that terrible cut up version and bad English dub into the market and effectively taking a step BACKWARD.

If that was the case, of which I am not sure, wouldnt it be funny if Ocean replaced FUNi...I totally doubt it but it really made me realize how milked the franchise is

I hope that it's uncut and not cut up as well. as for the bad English dub, that's your opinion. me and many others love the ocean dub and I think the first 53 episodes and the first 3 movies are light years ahead of Funimation's dub. I asked you a few pages back but it probably got buried uppenguintruth wrote:I don't mind Funimation milking the series, because it will mean they can afford other licenses.
