I don't recall having the VAs do the vast majority of the roles being part of the joke. It was likely a cost cutting measure, and it's not uncommon for actors to play multiple roles. That was my point.

That or they auditioned for more than one character and the casting agent though they were good enough for those roles.

Hey work isn't always easy to find sometimes you gotta take what you can, if I was that person I would be more worried about putting food on my table (possibly for a family) then keeping a childrens cartoon accurate.

What did people think of Kent Williams' Supreme Kai? It's not as good as his Tao or Gero but I liked it. I definitely wouldn't mind if he reprized his role.

Kinda liked everything about the little guy until all his hype and build-up went out the window and he started pissing himself because of Pui Pui... No wonder everyone thinks he's a joke.

I actually like his Supreme Kai better than his Tao from what I recall. Wasn't his Tao somewhat...nasally? Maybe I'm thinking of something else...I was fine with his Gero though, yeah.

Nasally? Maybe when he had his cameos in DBZ but in DB I would describe it as a bit reedy. I thought it conveyed what a condescending and smug jackass Tao was.
Plus it also worked well for after he lost all his credibility as a villain.

That's what I love about Kent William's Tao Pai Pai, it sounds like some voice that comes from a cheesy dub of a 70's B kung fu movie yet it has an awesome delivery which makes him sound smug, ruthless and legitimately threatening. And it also works for when he pretty much becomes a joke character. Kent Williams is one of my favorite talents from Funimation, personally I think he's great in all his DB roles.

You weren't the only person with that idea. Have you ever seen the movie Kung Pow: Enter the Fist?

Great, now all I can hear is Tao Pai Pai introducing himself as "Mercenary Tao... but you can call me Betty."

Yes, it was actually the first thing that came to mind when I heard Kent William's Tao Pai Pai.

Huh, you're right. It was only his voice in Z that was a little overly nasal (IMO). I guess that's what my brain always goes to, cuz that was the first way I heard the character. ^_^;

And I agree with the Betty/Tao referencing. I've long thought that was appropriate. :lol:

This will most likely not end being exactly 66 episodes like Funi has stated. Remember when they said Dragon Ball Kai was originally going to have just 100 episodes? Well it ended up being just 97 or 98, whichever way you want to spin it. So we possibly might be really getting 63 or 64 episodes of Buu Saga Kai in the end. At least I hope that's what will happen.

Wow, I have to give kudos to that Japanese dude on 2ch. Four years later, this rumor is strong and even permeated the language barrier.

There was never an announcement on how long exactly Kai was supposed to be. A post on the Japanese text board 2ch started the "100 episodes" thing and it snowballed, like all things anyone says about this series ever.

Wow, if they're recording in a few weeks...we could have sets by early/mid Fall.

Between this, the Schemmel interview, and Hebert's Facebook post, I'm glad to see that we are starting to slowly get closer to the rest of Kai coming out. I really need to get that Season Four set so I can watch all of the 'original' set of Kai stuff again before it gets here.

I really don't see how it would take even that long for the first set of Kai Buu arc going by Sean's tweet, I'm thinking summer at the latest.
