So...if you look past the part where the animation disappears, it's really good.

Hmm... I would post some pictures from the Freeza saga from the FUNi single DVD I have... If I could find it. It would probably look more like DragonBox than the Remastered sets.

here you are, one screenshot fron the Freeza single DVDs (specifically "Eleventh Hour" - not sure which episode apparently I'd had it in my DVD ROM before so it picked up wherever it was when I last viewed it. I'm pretty sure freeza just death balled Namek though). I'm posting this in link form to avoid messing up the horizontal part of the thread.

How? I don't get it.

Y'know, honestly, I'm done giving a flying feck what people think. I'll keep buying and enjoying my season sets, partly just to be a pain to snide people who think I shouldn't.

this is the exact same frame, and yes, it's cropped compared to the DBOX footage, and extremely altered contrast and colours

Why the hell would I envy something that I will never be able to afford, and wouldn't understand anyway? I wouldn't enjoy the DragonBoxes if I can't understand them, and given that, I'll take these Sets any day.

You know it's not that hard to put subs on your dragon box episodes. Or better yet, you could rip the audio from the season set's and use it in conjunction with dragon box so you'll have the funi dub. The two sinc up perfectly (next episode previews excluded, but meh...)

Why go through all that unnecessary trouble when I can just buy for a fraction of the price and effort something that not only has nigh-perfect subs already, but for TWO lanugages?

Umh... Because it's not hard and it's a 1000x better?

By the same argument, I can claim that DVDs are highly compressed compared to the Blu-ray releases. But I don't think we need to have more bandwidth just to show the same fact.
If you want to make a logical argument and point out a flaw, you at least need the comparison to be EQUAL, or else it is far to easy for someone to say the screencap ISN'T true, because it has clearly been altered for whatever reason.

We are specifically talking about 2 DVD sets, so it makes sense that if you are going to compare them you need caps that are actually AT DVD's resolultion.

And yes, SOME Blu-ray's ARE comparable to their DVD equivalent, hence why people take caps of the Blu-ray and the DVD, then scale the DVD up to the same size to show this point.

Hey, I did post a HQ version of that clip. Go a page back and check it out.

I know you did Toreto.

I was replying SPECIFICALLY to him in that his opinion that the only reason to do a HQ comparison is that the end result might change.

My point being, if they aren't equal (especially with the one being agreed upon as 'worse' being signifigantly smaller in size) then you can easily argue that it MIGHT change, and hence the reason for shrinking the one to remove some quality.

How about this: why in the flying fuck would I pay 1600 bucks for something that I can't undertsand, and then go to the trouble of syncing audio? Some of us just want episode content, not pretty looking colors and 20% extra (and meaningless) footage.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

So you'd rather spend your hard earned money on a release with missing animation, saturated colors, and -20% of missing important footage? (meaningless footage? You mean the same footage that was supposed to be actualy seen as originaly intended? You have weird taste my friend) Oh, and noone is telling you to go out and buy the dragon boxe's. I just wanted to say that the people who don't understand Japanese can add subs to their dvd's and it's not that much off a hassle.
