Dogshit is a bit of an exaggeration for whoever said it, but really, a good chunk of Faulconer's music tends to sound alike due to the "instruments" chosen.
Hell, Super Saiyan 3's theme (I'm assuming is the one used for when Goku first turns SS3), sounds pretty damn close to being another god damned remix of the opening FUNi went with after ditching "Rock the Dragon."

Not really, that song was pretty bad. In fact a good chunk of Falconers stuff is awful. Thev man was not talented enough to score an entire tv series. But he was capable of oroducing a good theme every now and then, He is certainly worlds better than Menza or Menza however you spell it. That guy knew one note and was not afraid to play it a billion times.

If Falcouner was as good as you guys say he is, he would have found no trouble making cash after scoring DBZ.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I'm not saying he's good.
I'm just saying I actually like some of his garbage.

Oh god you brought up a really good point. Has this guy made any music outside of DBZ?

Question regarding the older and younger fanbases. As the entire board is part of the older fanbase I must ask, if any of you ever got people to become members of the younger fanbase or acknowledge their existance? In other words any of you guys ever watch DB/DBZ with anyone under the age of 13 at anytime, or do you think of the younger fanbase as know-nothing brats who don't matter? (Know not everyone is mean like that, but it does happen).

My friend and his little brother who was 8 at the time and I always used to watch Dragonball together and we would have fun answering his questions about the show. We'd even quiz each other while watching it, good times although we had to watch the dub which made my ears bleed. My friend could go either way but he didn't care for subtitles and I didn't care for him reading them out loud every time it was a longer sentence. His little brother wasn't a great reader and found it to be too much work so we stuck with the English version. Every once in awhile I'd have fun pointing out how the dub changed a certain scene or which part was filler according to the comic books.
Hearing a kids take on Dragonball is great. It was made for them so it's always nice to see the core demographic so excited about it.

I'm 16, been a fan since as long as I can remember, never watched it with anyone who wasn't around my age.

Will say when I first got into it when I was 15 going on 16, I got my cousins who were then, 14, 12, 9 and 6 into the show. Funny thing was they would later watch the episodes on International Channel, while I wouldn't to avoid spoilers, but they would hate to watch it with subtitles when I got the dvds eventually.

I was 13 when I first saw the show a year and a half ago. At the time I occasionally enjoyed the show with my 11 year old brother who had gotten me into the show and his 11 year old friend who had gotten my brother into the show.

Hello all. First time poster, longtime lurker. I do pretty much agree with most all that has been said, especially in regards to how DBZ was marketed in the US and how adverse an affect it has had on the product as a whole.
I hope this does not take things too far off topic, but I wanted to bring up another anime that was on Toonami during 2000 alongside DBZ. Gundam Wing was extremely successful on CN, second only to DBZ itself (In fact, I was a Gundam fan before a DBZ one). Gundam Wing was a hit and painted a picture in the American minds of a flashy, action packed show loaded with Gundams that could blow away whole armies of badguys. The Gundam Pilots hardly ever doubted themselves and the lead was a total badass.
Now, Wings success prompted Bandai to release other shows over here, with the first one broadcast on Toonami, replacing Gundam Wings timeslot. Mobile Suit Gundam did not fair as well with younger fans had Wing and it was promptly cancled before even finishing its first run.
a lot of people claim that 9/11 was the reason for its early cancelation. others say that the animation was too dated. While those elements may play a factor, I think that the series must have seemed so. . . small compared to Wing. Instead of five flashy Gundams we get one more simplistic design. Instead of quick, kewl battles we get brutal wars that the protagonist must struggle to get through. Speaking of the protagonist, Amuro Ray was likely seen as too whiny and wimpy compared to the kewl, "badass" Heero Yuy of Gundam Wing.
Again, I hope this isn't too off topic, I just was thinking of this the other day and thought I would share. Do you think that this situation parellels Dragon Ball's at all? Certainly Gundam has always had better dubbing than DB, one must admit that it never really took off once they took Wing off the air. Not even Gundam SEED has done well.

I sure as hell know I wouldn't. I just
like the music. Sue me for having a positive opinion of something the rest of the board hates.
