If Dragon Ball Super was that big a deal for the production committee there probably would have been more time placed into the series before announcing it for a season when they'll already be supremely busy working on a half dozen other series.

Or, you know, they could've been waiting for after FnF's release and first weekend to not take any focus away from it, which would make a lot of sense.

We're not there, so we can only speculate when exactly they started working on it, not take assumptions as facts. I'm fairly sure it is a big deal, though.

Freaking Saint Seiya: Soul of Gold has an English version of the website, and the English-speaking Saint Seiya fanbase is absolutely miniscule.

Although, the Soul of Gold website didn't have any other version until late March, less than one month before the show started. And the website was revamped for the premiere with actual concrete information not much earlier. So let's wait and see the "final" update, as there's nothing in there yet.
Either way, SS Soul of Gold is a streaming series, made with international audiences in mind moreso than Japanese fans, so of course it gotta have an english version. Same for Crystal.

I was expecting Kageyama big return for the opening or ending.

The promotional art doesn't never set anthing for the timeline.
Super will either takes place after ROF or EOZ. Not before any of it.

Still hoping for the latter.

Was never going to happen, since Columbia Music Japan (I believe) works with Toei Animation in that time slot almost exclusively. I believe Hironobu Kageyama is with Lantis at the moment.

Given what they've been doing for the past two or three years it isn't a surprise. It wouldn't be so bad if Toei Animation could actually acquire enough animators to work on their projects but that doesn't seem to be the case.

An intro like that for Dragon Ball Super would certainly be really cool.

Judging how poor Crystal was to begin with, and One Piece looking sketchy at times, it would be no surprise if Super followed suit.

The only Anime that (from what I can gather anyhow) looks consistently well produced by Toei is Precure.

At best should we expect Super to look like BoG? I would be okay with that. This is a big chance for TOEI to make up for Kai (and GT) I wonder if they'll deliver.

Doubt it. BOG was a movie = bigger budget, more time to work at it...

Super will be a weekly series. The only thing we have for sure is that it will get a better treatment than Kai.
I don't expect it too look bad though.

Arc 2 in Crystal is way more consistient and better animated than Dark Kingdom though. But it took alooooooooooooooot of complaining from fans about often disastrous animation in Arc 1 for Toei to step it up

The least I would expect now is for the new series to have BoG quality of animation. I haven't seen the newest Sailor Moon Crystal episodes, but it seems like they have improved. The first season made my eyes bleed.


I really wish they are not hoping the sheer nostalgia will keep them afloat for the first batch of episodes.

If Heroes has the same animation style as the 2008 Jump Special and the 2D video game intros then I will be happy. At least the animation will still look like Dragon Ball and won't have a totally different art direction.

Yes, you are quite right being a weekly series there will be a dip and rise in animation quality, but what I meant to say perhaps I should have been a bit clearer, is that should we expect a few key episodes to look like BoG. From what I read BoG had a budget for $500k surely TOEI could pump that sort of money into a couple of episodes every season (if the show will be long running)?

And RF, which looks far superior in terms of animation in comparison to BOG, had a budget of $5 million. So I don't think we should get our hopes for having that kind of quality animation for a weekly show. But on average, It'll be good.
