Hey, Kei, you said the animation was better this time around. We there any bits of animation that stuck out at great? Anything to match or top Shida's work in the last film?

Just figured I might as well show you this quote Rozay
I saw it, but that sounds like overanalyzing to me. The most likely scenario is that Shisami and Tagoma rank with Zarbon and Dodoria in terms of power, even if the wording is not as explicit.

It was thanks to that picture that people learned about the transformation in the first place, so I assume so. =P

It was out before the screening of the movie? I'm really out of the loop it seems, I just found that picture now. This thread moves so fast, though, it's almost impossible to keep up with unless you monitor it around the clock.

Too bad? No. As long there's no official statement what is "canon" for the series, I can consider what I want, if they pretend to do a third movie about the plot introduced in BoG it would be like RoF never existed. We could say that Goku and Vegeta got stronger in a "off-screen" training with Whis, why not? :)

After reading the summary, I think I'll be very happy with this movie.

Plot-wise there's not much there, but I don't really mind. Whis tells Goku and Vegeta that they have things they need to work on for training, they don't take it seriously, bad things happen, and then they have a chance to make up for it. Lesson learned...maybe. Think of it as a few chapters/episodes. I think it's pretty safe to say we'll get another film after this, so if this is nothing more than a glorified training montage with characters interacting in interesting ways and a bunch of cool action scenes, is there really that much to be disappointed about?

I LIKE that Freeza comes in and does his bit, but his appearance is ultimately of no real consequence/significance. His revival adds to the depth of the Dragon Ball universe; that Freeza's forces didn't completely dissipate after his death. In the end, this amounts to a threat only slightly more serious than Abo and Cado, which I think is appealing considering Freeza's personality. I like that Freeza got to explore a new form, and I really do buy that he could get significantly stronger with 4 months of training.

I LIKE what we've heard about the Super Saiyan infused with Godly ki form. I like that they had the form going into the movie, and when Goku reveals it, he's just like "yeah, this is a thing now". It's just a natural progression of the form, and I like that it's very down-played. If it were played up very dramatically, I don't think I would've been as happy with it.

My main gripes; Gohan, and the complete absence of Goten and Trunks.

Gohan goes Super Saiyan in this film, and nothing is (based on the notes) really said about it. In the comic at least, he seems to assume that going Super Saiyan would be his best option ("I can still go Super Saiyan...probably"), as if his elder Kaioshin power-up is no longer a factor. If it has worn off at this point, I'd at least like a one-off line said about it. I don't mind that he is so weak because he has not trained at all and he was caught off-guard.

I get that Gohan didn't tell Goten and Trunks about the fight, but come on. They have the ability to sense Ki, and they'd surely be able to sense Freeza (maybe not Goku and Vegeta because they're using Godly ki). Maybe Bulma forced them to stay home, maybe they were doing something else and were completely distracted somehow, but with the current explanation, I don't buy it. Even if they knew about the fight and decided to stay home because their parents wouldn't let them, that still seems odd to me. Even so, if something as stupid as Bulma threatening to take away Trunks' video games was given as a reason, I'd instantly accept it. I just would have liked a little more.

Can't wait to see this thing in person.

Although I don't like the idea of Gohan getting one shotted, I don't see why people are surprised that he's lost his Ultimate Power Up. It wasn't a transformation, his power was awakened and because he hasn't been training it's gone. It's no different from what when he was sucking it up against Dabura, the kid is just not really a fighter anymore.

Like most people, I really would've liked to see Gohan take the mantle, but his current state actually fits with his trajectory as a character. Goku died and there were no planetary threats for him to train. You would've thought that he would've did some training after Majin Buu, but apparently fighting wasn't that important to him anymore. And with no one left to push him, he had no incentive to train.

The 11 year old Gohan who was the strongest person in the universe is gone and has been for a long time. The one shot by Frieza is a little crazy, but he just isn't necessarily a powerful fighter anymore.

"Off-Screen" training? Ok, so you're taking ideas from this movie which you consider non-canon and using it in one that will be? Let's say I hated BOG and said it was non-canon because I hated it and I ended up loving this movie and want it to be canon. Would that really make sense considering there are characters and ideas from the past film? Nope. However you can consider whatever you want, I'm just throwing some Ideas out there.

The biggest thing I feared from the onset was that this would be one of the original 13 movies on steroids in terms of structure, and that appears to be the case. However, if it's as good as the high-end versions of that formula, such as Movies 1, 2, 5, 9 and 12, that's a good enough success for me.

He has it when Uub arrives. And it was outright stated that Mystic changed Gohan's personality, turning him colder and willing to fight, so making Gohan a chump again contradicts the manga.

Julian said it was fun, and it's not COMPLETELY like those movies because it expands the story in a more training style way, not universe exanding like BOG.

Some points of mine:
+ Frieza is brought back and humiliated by Goku again. What a worst wish. Bring him back and kill him again. The worst wish=the most pointless wish
+ Goku gets hurt from Sorbet's beam? Now we can compare this to that Goku SSJ4 got hurt by glass  One stupid thing
+ Piccolo is beaten by a red guy of Frieza's army? So this red guy could kill Frieza's family and is the most powerful being in Namek saga. Another stupid thing
+ Vegeta is killed by Frieza's earth busting? Even Vegeta could blow up earth when he arrived here the first time himself. Then he dies because of this? Another stupid thing
+ Rewind time and win-So cheap
+ Blue Super saiyan-the worst super saiyan transformation so far
+ Battle of gods built a lot of mysterious things, however, Revival of F throw them out of window.
+ Never believe trailer,rumor,interview
+ We should support this movie, otherwise they may quit Dragon Ball

I've been one of Gohan's biggest fans and is character is the reason why i got into the series, but I really don't understand why so many fans are so defensive and protective of him. Aside from when he was Super Saiyan 2, Gohan was never a badass who enjoyed fighting unless he had to, and we already saw once in the show how slacking off from his training to do stuff he enjoys like schoolwork made him weaker.

I'm fine with Gohan not particularly being a tough guy anymore; his character has come a long way from the kid who had to suck up his fears with his back against the wall and his friends getting picked off one by one. Now he's a dorky scholar and a family man and has weaned off of combat even more than before. Of course he'd lose his ultimate form in the process. You do steroids but don't actually hit the gym, you get flabby and bloated. The only thing that wouldn't support the notion that Gohan loses his ultimate form are the way his eyes are drawn. But the thing is, the "ultimate form" was never really a "form," was it? He just powered up after Old Kai gave him the big boost.

Don't try to authorize your personal standpoint. You always throw in agressive comments that solely stand on your own opnion as if it's the absolute fact, which contribute nothing to our discussions.

I think it's pretty evident that Toriyama completely ripped up and tossed out End of Z. There is nothing that can be done to even make that work as Uub would be no where near worth Goku's time.

Great rebuttal to that, also shows there was some foreshadowing to it. I think it's plausible the beam could pierce Goku, something about Sorbet's very interesting to me - would be nice to see him again but I assume we won't be seeing him anymore outside of video game appearances.
