Okay, gotcha. I too would prefer seeing Trunks and Goten showing their age more this time around, at least as developed as Gohan was during his fight with Cell.MCDaveG wrote:I meant retarded metaphoricaly as being not fully developed for their age and still looking as 7 and 8 years old.

I just heard there was going to be a new movie. Is it true it's Freeza related?
EDIT: A quick skim of the posts here reveals that it's true.
But I wonder how Freeza will be able to do anything without getting killed instantly.

Considering Beerus and whis will be in the film, this takes at a minimum 3 years after BoG, that's about 3 years from the end of z

Well, looks like I'm late to the party again....
This is seriously the best news ever! When you come down to it, Frieza really is the archenemy of the Saiyans. I could see Vegeta getting a lot of focus in this one. Nice to see Beerus and Whis back, as well.
Fukkatsu no F...I guess we'll be getting a different title from Funimation. As far as the dub VA goes.......Chris Ayres for being more recent or Linda Young for consistency under the "Z" name? Well, I'd be ok with it either way. The dialog likely won't be influenced by the VA choice, and what if Young's improved considerably?

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
Well, this exploded quickly (and understandably so)! It's still too new for me to make a full judgement on, especially since we still know so little, but here's some initial thoughts I have.
- Freeza coming back? I...huh. I have to admit, I'm a little happy that it's not just 'another God of Destruction', or 'original Super Saiyan God', as neither of those ideas intrigued me that much...but...Freeza? Huh. I wonder how this is gonna work out? As long as the story is enjoyable and there's some kind of reason given for his newfound strength, I really don't care too much on the power side of things, but this is still a really bizarre choice.
- I'm kinda disappointed that they're re-treading the 'remnants of Freeza's empire' thing again though. This has been done too much. Mostly in side non-anime projects, but still.
- Goku's new gi and Vegeta's new armor intrigue me. Did they really go off to train with Whis after all? That symbol on Goku's gi is especially interesting.
- Beerus and Whis looking concerned about what's going on definitely interests me, considering that Beerus wasn't even beaten in the previous film, and Whis didn't fight at all and was implied to be even stronger.
- I thought that was Yamcha at first too. Whoa, Gohan...you're...changing looks only to change back to your previous look by the end of the manga? That's different. Then again, Kuririn seems to have shaved his head again for some reason, so...
- Not really sure how to feel about the two new henchmen designs. They look a little...hokey.
- Overall, I'm really not sure what to make of this yet. It seems so random and out of nowhere, but at the same time, that was a big part of what I loved about Battle of Gods. It was so unexpected. This...this is unexpected. And that one editor of Toriyama's, the one that was hardest on him, was impressed, so...that bodes well still, doesn't it? If it was just something as simple as 'Freeza comes back lolz', I really don't think that editor would have been as impressed.

Sweet! I've always felt like Vegeta should have been the one to end Frieza for good.
Maybe he'll be the hero in this film.

Freeza coming back is probably just a catalyst for something bigger happening in the movie.
Toriyama proving once gain he knows how to surprise people, for good or bad reasons. Freeza coming back, I would have never expected. Considering the anime team did a shitty job of handling previous villains being brought back to life, let's see how Toriyama does it.
Oh man, this to divide the Dragon Ball community even more than Battle Of Gods did. The next few months are going to be interesting.

It would be cool if Freeza took the position of a kind of lordgenome type advisor like in Gurren Lagann.

Perhaps he'll get the immortality wish he always craved for, but in the form of a God power-up somehow.

Geez, you go to sleep for a couple hours and BLAM!
So, the consensus seems to be that the guy in-between Piccolo and Kuririn is Gohan, right?
I find it interesting that the only characters present on the poster are characters who were prominent during the Freeza arc (sans Bulma). Perhaps the wish alters more than we realize. Like, instead of just reviving Freeza, we get an entire alternate reality with a grown-up Gohan, a still-bald Kuririn, Goku and Vegeta with different outfits, and... Piccolo. All still suffering under Freeza's reign.
Which sounds stupid as hell on paper, but hey!

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
Hmm...on the one hand, I'd be interested in seeing something like that...but on the other hand, that lends itself way too easily to the 'the other universes are just alternates of our main one', and I really don't like that theory. Gah, as happy as I am to know more, now I just want to know even MORE! It's going to be so hard waiting for this film to be out and for us to get full descriptions on what it was like, much less how long I'll have to wait to see it for myself.
I also just had a thought. Toriyama says he thought up the idea while listening to 'F'...do you think there's much chance of that song playing in the movie? As much as I like the song, it seems to clash a bit with Dragon Ball proper, and the song is a good few years old now, but if Toriyama likes it...

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
Dragon Ball has a history of having ideas that are stupid on but in practice are awesome. Even as much a I hate GT, the ideas and premises around it was so awesome, and if handled correctly it could have been as good as Z. I really think that as stupid as the premise of this movie may sound how it's executed will be vital to how good it is. If Toriyama has really put in genuine effort to make this film as enjoyable as possible, we're in for an awesome Dragon Ball movie. We'll just have to wait and see.

Still sounds like a much better concept than just "FREEZA IS BACK OH NO!!" Because at least it sort of gives an excuse for how this guy who's been outclassed so badly it's not even funny by this point in the story, is somehow considered a threat again.MagicBox wrote:I find it interesting that the only characters present on the poster are characters who were prominent during the Freeza arc (sans Bulma). Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
Interesting. Initial reaction was disappointment as I wanted someone new but this could turn out ok. Seems like Frieza get's the Godly Ki to make him relevant as a villain again, don't know how I feel about that but we'll see.
I'll be fine with it as long as
1. Frieza isn't really the main villain but causes the main villain to show up.
2. If frieza is the main villain I hope he get's a new form, I don't mean god Frieza but a completely new design.

I'm sticking with my "the wish alters all of reality" hypothesis. Alternate Gohan, alternate Kuririn, alternate Piccolo, alternate Goku, alternate Vegeta. Possibly the same Beerus and Whis? This'll be interesting.
I'm not hard to please. Just let Kuririn beat a henchman for once. That's all it would take. Best movie of the year, all years.
