Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection 'F'"

Kinda excited, kinda disappointed. Not that I felt like the Freeza Arc should have been the end of the story, but I've always felt that Freeza himself was a nice thematic end for the story of the Saiyans. (At least in the context of Z anyway, GT adding the Tsufruians and Dragon Balls themselves were good ideas too.) So while I'm kinda happy that Freeza is apparently the villain the Z story will end with (for this film, maybe not others in the future), I'm also disappointed that it's not something entirely new.

All in all though, I had a much better reaction to this announcement than I did Battle of Gods' poster. Beerus' design initially had me ranting about how the Egyptian "Cabbit" didn't really fit with DB's style. But that quickly changed into him being one of my favorite antagonists. So I'm willing to see what Toriyama has in store for Freeza in 2015 before really judging...

I second this. I also second the notion of keeping the poor staff in our thoughts, as the siege that is a new DBZ movie finally begins yet again...we feel for ya guys.

As much as I'm trying to stay positive, I also have to say that I'm not sure how I feel about 'God Freeza' being a thing, if that's what's happening, either. I was still hoping for something that's non-God-like to be the issue again, simply because this whole consensus of 'God powers can't be beaten' that seems to be cropping up in the fanbase now.

Dude in green is Gohan, that's for sure. He doesn't have scars on his face, hence he cannot be Yamcha.

Interesting. Initial reaction was disappointment as I wanted someone new but this could turn out ok. Seems like Freeza get's the Godly Ki to make him relevant as a villain again, don't know how I feel about that but we'll see.

I'll be fine with it as long as

1. Freeza isn't really the main villain but causes the main villain to show up.

2. If Freeza is the main villain I hope he get's a new form, I don't mean god Freeza but a completely new design.

Further up in this thread Kei17 said that "new transformation" was noted on that scan.

Aww COME ON... More Freeza? Really? Well I'm not gonna knock the movie just yet.. Cuz who knows maybe those two new guys have something more sinister in mind besides just bringing back they're powerless leader.

Just had another thought. Is there any chance Kuririn's look is temporary and not how he'll appear in the film? I'm pretty sure the original Battle of Gods poster showed him like this too...though to be fair, it showed everyone else in their standard End of Z look (outside of bald Kuririn anyway), so...

My guess is Vegeta defeats Freeza at the end of the movie but tells him to hit the road, he's not interested in fighting him anymore, so Freeza goes off to rebuild his empire.

I just hope Kuririn isn't bald in the movie.

Toriyama must've had fun writing Beers, Whis, and Freeza's dialogue, though.

If that's the case, then it's a poster mistake like Super Saiyan Gohan in the last film.

Kuririn's earliest appearance ahead of Battle of Gods was long before the release of the actual film poster, which this appears to be.

True, I forgot, that poster I'm thinking of wasn't even the official Battle of Gods one, but was a generic 'DBZ'S BACK BABY' poster, wasn't it? Hmm.

As far as the title goes, I'll predict that FUNi will probably go with something like 'Resurrection of Frieza' for the English title. And speaking of, I, like a lot of people, wonder what they'll do about Freeza's voice now...the one clip at the start of Battle of Gods was one thing, but this...is clearly gonna be something very different...if they don't go back to Young, it'll seem weird with their seeming 'Z' branding they like to keep separate from Kai. But if they do go back to Young, even just for this movie, and even if she sounds a lot better now and has better dialogue, just like everyone else who returned for Kai, did...then that's an entire side of the anbase that's gonna just never stop raging.
