Re: higher quality when aimed at tv

Sailor Moon Crystal has definitely improved to a degree since they announced they will be airing it on tv after all. The second arc does look better than the first, art wise imo.

They keep their F outfits and reaching shirtless Gokû status will be incredibly easy. He's only got one instead of two.

Also, the design Bulma in universe came up with for Vegeta's outfit in F lends greatly to such things. One could easily believe she was thinking of him when she designed it. There exists both serious and cheeky fan art on Pixiv regarding that grey top under his armor (of which I plan to contribute to later today). X3

I expect Youtubers to comment about how terrible Super is compared to DBZ after watching only 10 minutes of the first episode. And this will go on in every comment section of every clip of it until the series ends... ;_;
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

Yes please.

A dream come true would be a release of vinyl figures of the cast in their EOZ outfits. My life would be complete with a brown leather jacket-clad Vegeta in my collection...

Will post a link after it's drawn/up. :3

It probably won't be drawn until late afternoon when I get home, but it'll definitely happen.

I'm paying attention to the available facts.
Btw, Saint Seiya Omega wasn't announced until less than two months before the premiere. And the first episode (the first season, in fact) was far from a "piece of crap quickly put together". We've learned later it was in the works much, much earlier, including reunions with the original manga author, so that alone means absolutely nothing.
The first season wasn't made during a time when Toei Animation was supremely busy on seven series a year, specials, movies and in the middle of a such a large number of projects being made around the industry. It also had main staff members, specifically Umakoshi, with connections to talented key animators. That's why it had a lot of good action animation.

So far all we know about Dragon Ball Super is that it is being produced on the heels of seven series with any number of movies in the pipeline of the next twelve months from Toei.

Dragon Ball Super is being produced for 9AM on a Sunday morning. An episode anywhere near as good as Saint Seiya Omega Episode #51 would be a miracle from God. A smooth production not hindered by a lack of staff or weak staff is even less likely.

I look forward to seeing it! But also, for the existing FnF V/B art on Pixiv, if you could give me a link to that, I would appreciate it. (I'd look it up myself, but it's all Japanese, and, yeah xD)

Someone, y'know, professional? There's only so far you can get as an imitator.
1) He's Professional since he's being paid for it.
2) Name someone, don't just say "someone". Frankly, if someone else drew it, it would be Dragon Ball in another style, because as far as I know, there's nobody who can do the Dragon Ball style better than Toyble.
I didn't realize professional had one concise definition, and that clearly any other definitions, that would make sense in this context, are nonexistent.
a person qualified in a profession.
I do not see him as qualified, I find him to be a lackluster artist; an imitator. Like the guy at your local karaoke bar singing "Billie Jean", but falling flat on his face due to his 1.3 octave range and inability to dance fluently.

Nobody better than Toyble? Ridiculous. The art style has consistently changed from beginning to end. If Dragon Ball ended with chapter one, and someone made a side story in the art style it currently has, it'd be viewed as something entirely different. Whether or not that's an issue is completely irrelevant. Why should I have to name anyone at all? I don't have to name a better president just because I've come to the conclusion Obama is mediocre at his unnecessary job.
Most Dragon Ball fans are incapable of making a logically sound argument.

Would you rather see a drastic change in the art style for Dragon Ball, or just a better imitator?

You know I really want the animation to be top notch, but I was thinking about how much more I like DB/DBZ then GT and I guess you could argue that GT has far better animation quality then those series did but yet it's a good story that matters most. I think what people don't like about GT animation is more of a style choice then actual quality of the animation itself.

That being said... when DB/DBZ were at their best it was better then GT over all. I hope that we at least get important episodes that look amazing.

I haven't seen GT in so long I don't even remember what the quality of its animation was like. I know I didn't like the new art direction like in that Freeza and Cell team up episode. Didn't care for the muted color palette either. I did like Gokû getting a tan, that was about it. It's just been too long for me to accurately talk GT.

Yea, i guess even animators have their off-days. Lets see what story Toriyama-sensei can cook up this time!

Theme Song artists comments:
Kazuya Yoshii

I wanted to create a tune that kids would hum as they went home from school, and as they hummed it, it would feel like power was welling up inside them.

I also wanted to convey my image of Goku: kind, powerful, and sexy too.

The intro up to the first verse have the image of flying together as a family. Yukinojō Mori is someone I really admire and respect as a songwriter, so getting to make this song with him was absolutely super! I feel like I grew stronger and stronger while making it.

The recording was handled by LA’s trusted musicians and staff! Fantastic!! Look forward to it!
Good Morning America (Vocals/Guitar: Shingo Kanehiro)

Dragon Ball. I was involved with Kai last time, which was a digitally remastered version of an anime I’d seen once back when I was a kid.

Back then, the ending theme was sung by Hironobu Kageyama. Since it’s something I’m so familiar with, on the one hand I’m very happy that we’re getting to do it ourselves, but on the other hand it doesn’t feel quite right; it doesn’t seem real yet.

Still, this time it’s a completely new story. An unknown adventure that’s not even in the manga. I’m really looking forward to it and totally excited.

In order to go down in Dragon Ball history, I’ve brought my ace-in-the-hole “super” new song, so look forward to it.
Fuji TV Producer Osamu Nozaki

When deciding on the theme song for Dragon Ball Super, the first new Dragon Ball TV anime series in 18 years, I thought that the main theme should be a breath of fresh air for the Dragon Ball world, something that would be popular with both children and adults, so I entrusted the opening theme to Kazuya Yoshii-san.

This is Yoshii-san’s first time singing the main theme of an anime solo, and also his first time collaborating with songwriter Yukinojō Mori-san, so I’m sure the two of them will take on these new challenges together. Good Morning America all sang the initial ending theme for when Dragon Ball Kai started up last year. They also performed with Masako Nozawa-san at an event, so overall they’ve been heavily involved with starting up new programs. I hope they’ll help us kick off Dragon Ball Super as well.

Please look forward not only to Dragon Ball Super, the first new series in 18 years, but also to the new theme song too!

>I also wanted to convey my image of Goku: kind, powerful, and sexy too.

Very interesting.
