Vegeta'd be short for a guy even in Japan. The average for men there is 5'7, right?
What's the average for Saiyans (who are aliens so Earthly averages don't matter)?
I don't think it's ever stated anywhere. The height thread above puts Gokû at around 5'8 and Gohan around 5'9 though.
Officially Goku is supposed to be 5'9 (the global average for a man is 5'9, for Caucasians it is 5'10). Gohan is 5'9.25. Goku however, appears to look more like a guy who is 5'7 or 5'8 in most cases. Vegeta is crazy short for males! Saiyans appear to be taller on average from what we've seen, where Raditz looks to be around 6'3 and Nappa almost 7 feet tall. King Vegeta is just as tall as Tenshinhan if not taller if I'm not mistaken. Vegeta is just a really short guy.

Officially Goku is supposed to be 5'9 (the global average for a man is 5'9, for Caucasians it is 5'10).
Global average is 5'9? That doesn't seem right. Average in the US of A is 5'9.5, and it's one of the tallest countries. The average male height in India (population: 1.25 billion) is only 5'5, while the average height in China (population: 1.35 billion) is 5'7 or 5'8. In fact, besides the USA and Russia, none of the world's top 15 most populated countries have male averages anywhere near 5'9 or 5'10 (Indonesia = 5'2!, Bangladesh = 5'3, Japan = 5'7, Mexico = 5'7, Nigeria = 5'5, etc.).

Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

So, just finished listening to the podcast. Julian's opinions on the movie were welcomed, but I found one tidbit particularly interesting. That being Julian's statement that the film hints/suggests that Freeza was able to control/pick the color of his new form. I'm seriously wondering if he didn't go with gold in-universe just as an attempt to mock the Super Saiyans.

There are none. The film is not out yet. The synopsis came from a preview screening.

It only hit me now that I'm looking at it after making it my phone's background, the reason Gokû looks so short--they drew one base for Vegeta and just flipped it and switched up what the hands were doing for Gokû! They didn't bother drawing a new base when it was time to draw Gokû. That's Gokû with Vegeta's body build!

Good eye! Going a step further. Their hands(Goku right and Vegeta left) are 100% alike besides the mic. Damn they were lazy.

Thank you!

Whoever drew that chose a bad spot to cut corners. A character who's 175cm tall is not the same as one who's 163cm, and it shows.

Well, now I know what Gokû would look like at 5'4 instead of 5'8, I guess.

Toriyama is a complete hack now.

When you say "marginally superior to Fusion Reborn," are you referring to how Frieza's revival is handled, or the plot in general?

The summary is explicit enough with regard to the grievances I'm airing.

I actually think that the GT version of this is better.

Here's the thing which I find to be equal measures of hilarious and exasperating, Battle of Gods received such a negative response from the portion of fans who preferred Dragonball Z at its more action-orientated, as opposed to light, comic and plot-orientated extents, and it honestly feels like the very people who were calling for a mindless action flick are now berating the guy as being totally out of touch when that's exactly what he's given you.

I honestly get the feeling that Toriyama was under pressure from Toei to deliver something with much more action, so essentially, he's dialed it upto to 11 as a mischievous 'two fingers' to those people.

That is absolutely something Freeza would do.

That would be hilarious if true.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

That's just your perception. I don't think anyone was calling for a "mindless" action flick. There are good ways and bad ways to do an action movie. Dragonball at its most serious and action orientated is the Saiyan or Cell Saga (but it still has comedy obviously); assuming people want something of that kind of tone, doesn't mean the movie successfully pulled it off. Don't strawman people's preferences.

No, I wanted a good movie.
