He would know that only if he spoke directly with Saligar. It's going to take word directly from the author to get me to change my mind on this.
French quote: "Je ne te connais pas, mais je connais ton ami sayan"

Translated to English it means: I do not know you, but I know your Sayan friend.

The english translation should have "sayan" before "friend" to sound better. Instead they left the "sayan" exactly where it is in the french sentence.
THANK YOU!

It makes so much more sense when put that way. I guess I'm just not good at reading shoddy French translations

"32nd Finals" in this context means the first round of a six-round tournament. They seem to be trying to do the 1/32th equivalent of "quarter-finals" or "semi-finals" expression.

I'm loving the gag-manga-verse's cameo. I hope they're not fogotten.

@Senzu-Bean: As mentioned, Arale is originally the main character of Dr Slump. The reason tons of other characters get shoved into fan-manga as well is because a LOT of them had cameos in Dr Slump. There's actually a good half of Toriyama's works all sharing the same continuity as Dragonball.

Wait...am I seeing a different version to you? The one I read says "I know your Saiyan friend." Actually, that's what SSJ2bardock said to begin with as well. It still makes perfect sense to me. Oh well.

SSJ2bardock: I can't help but feel a speckle of offence with your comment, since I do make the biggest of efforts to translate the comic from it's original source in French. And the English version was actually clear and accurate, your confusion was unnecessary.

The confusion was unnecessary because you feel offended now? Sorry, but that is ridiculous. Kuririn says, "I know your Saiyan friend" and then it completely cuts off from there and goes to them eating lunch without showing who he was talking about. You can't try to sit here and tell me that it's "implied" that he was talking about Vegeta because we just don't know that. For all we know Vegeta never came to Earth in Kuririn's Universe so how is he to know that Vegeta is a Saiyan or what a Saiyan even looks like.

The way I saw it was that Kuririn did not know Goku, but he knew that he was a Saiyan and made it clear that he did not like him by calling him "friend" in jest. I simply thought that the translation of -your- was a mistake, which has been known to happen in this fan comic. So at an end, no the translation was actually not clear and accurate do to the vagueness of the images themselves. It would appear clear and accurate to you because you're the one who wrote it, to think that every person has the same thought process as yourself is foolish.

I assume it's Vegeta, because I figure this is how their universe panned out. Either Goku wasn't sent off of planet Vegeta before it blew up and died, or Freeza decided to destroy his pod as it was flying off. Therefore, Krillin is the only one to receive training from Roshi, which starts the process of him taking over the position. Earth is still a hot commodity for the planet-selling business, so Vegeta is sent there. Of course, it could be Radditz as well, but I figure Vegeta probably would have killed him at some point. And this is "our" Goku Krillin is talking to, and Radditz isn't with them, so it's pretty logical that he's talking about Vegeta in that case.

Honestly, it seems rather obvious it's either Radditz or Vegeta, simply for the fact that there aren't two commas in the original/French version. Writing dictates that if you were making a sarcastic "friend" comment, you'd put a comma just before it, like "Great job with the comic, friend."

But seriously, he said he doesn't know Goku, but he does in fact know his Saiyan friend (only one there is Vegeta). Besides, he addressed Goku with "Saiyan" so there's no point to then tell him he knows he is a saiyan. I don't see the confusion and the reason for bitchiness.
Not a problem.

You`re right! I must have read it wrong somehow.

Then the translation on the site is accurate.

Wow, you really do have a problem understanding people. Try this, after reading, think of the meaning of what you just read. That will probably help.

I do not do the English version, I do the Portuguese version, and I'm sorry, I still think all of them are clear, when Kuririn says "I know your Saiyan friend" he obviously means Vegeta, because, oh I don't know, the only Saiyan that is Goku's friend is Vegeta, which clearly implies that Kuririn already saw them, despite the fact that Goku didn't realize that he was there. It is all quite clear, you just need to understand what you just read.

I felt offended with the fact that, despite me being a translator and quite clearly telling you that he meant Vegeta, you still didn't believe it, basically meaning that I'm doing a bad job with my translations, that I didn't understand the meaning of the phrase itself. Thanks for that.

Seriously, it's such a simple phrase that there is no room for confusion, I am baffled at how you managed to create such a big discussion over such a simple and clear thing.

I'm not trying to argue, I'm just throwing in my two cents. In English (I don't know about other languages), but it's common to call a person you consider similar to another person their friend, regardless of whether or not they know each other. It's often used in a manner that isn't polite.

For example, if a Mormon comes to someone's door and tries to convert them, more often then not, they're treated with disrespect. If, on the same day, another Mormon comes to the door, they might be told, "Listen, I already spoke to your friend..." The person who said that does not know or care if the other is their friend, he's grouping them together in annoyance, and possibly to offend.

The way it is written, at least in English, it could be inferred that Krillin is talking about any Saiyan, not necessarily Vegeta. He could be referring to Radditz, Vegeta, Turles, or any of the other few remaining Saiyans.

No, the way it is written in English implies that Krillin is refering to the Saiyan present among Goku's friends at the tournament. That Saiyan is Vegeta. There's absolutely no ambiguity here, guys, be it in the original French or the chosen English translation. :?

Does it really matter? Of course one of them is right and the other is wrong. But I'm sure we will find out who it is.

It's the same in my language, although, grammar dictates that in order to have that meaning, you would need a comma, which that phrase does not have, thus, as I stated time and time again, the only logical answer is that Kuririn is referring to someone else, and the only possible candidate is Vegeta. I'm sorry, but quite simply, there is no possible argument about this. At least Dayspring understood.

It could have been any Saiyan, I doubt this Krillin knows who is who.

Well, he quite clearly recognizes demons, androids, Coola's empire, saiyans and Babidi, and yet, somehow you're trying to tell me he does not know who the prince of saiyans is? It's not like Vegeta is a quiet guy about it or anything, I'm pretty damn sure that it is implied that this Kuririn fought Vegeta.

Any Saiyan out of Goku's group of friends present at the tournament, but there is only one other Saiyan there. Hence it's Vegeta.

I wrote a long explanation, and even provided an example, in why he could have referred to any of the living Saiyans instead of just Vegeta. Did you not read it?

I guess I should have specified. If he knows about the Saiyans, and he knows Goku is a Saiyan, then he has reason to group him with any other Saiyan he had met. Be it, Radditz, Vegeta, or Turles.

There is virtually NO implication that he's referring to the group Goku is with. That could have been what the author intended, but it is not written in a way that makes the reader automatically assume that Krillin is talking about Goku's group of friends. He uses the word "friend" but, like I explained earlier, he could be referring to somebody he previously met, maybe on his planet, and didn't like. That's how I first interpreted it.

I'm not saying that it's incorrect to assume he's talking about Goku's friends. I'm saying that it's not specified which Saiyan he's talking about.

EDIT: If he had said, "I know your Saiyan friend, over there." Then nobody would have been confused.

He could just as easily be talking about Gohan and the reason for the attitude was because you whipped out the "there's really no reason to be confused here" line as if I'm some kind of fool. The line was taken quite easily out of context by a native speaker of the English language.
