Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

You had me til the last one....that really doesn't matter.
Besides it's not really a new form. It's the god power affecting his usual SSJ form. I'd be pretty ticked if this was called SSJ God 2, but it's not. At least it's not really calling itself a new form, just an affected old form. Unlike SSJ God which really should have been called Saiyan God in hindsight.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.

Toriyama wants to keep it to the Super Saiyan, and even wanted the Super Saiyan to feel new after all those decades to show Goku and Vegeta's evolution to a divine road apparently.
I bet it will stay like that for remaining movies, with the color being used as a mere indicator to remind you that Goku and Vegeta are in the God category, not the other Super Saiyans.
No more mystic forms, no more Super Saiyan 2, no more Super Saiyan 3.
Just Super Saiyans, the Godly ones and the non-Godly ones.
Hope you are totally right. Though the other Super Saiyans not even like fighting... So, it kinda makes it looks pointless.
I hope Toriyama retcons the "Mystic" by making it the "god" form of Son Gohan, thus tapping it with Super Saiyan... That would be cool.

Nah I like how it's just his hidden power taken beyond it's limits, rather than be a god thing. Though if you mean SSJ on top of that, then the crushed childish thought of that blowing up the planet will be ruined .
Though really fat chance. Gohan is Saiyan Yamcha at this point. He even took Yamcha's role of bench marking, which I don't think Yamcha minds since that role sucked.

I know. It shouldn't matter if it's cute or not. (╯︵╰,)
I'm just disappointed and taking it out on possible replacement form. Uncool, I realize. I need to stop doing that.
I wish they could've called ssjg something else. I feel like Toriyama was stuck with it because Shueisha probably had the babe ready to go before Toriyama saw the old script and went through it with his rewriting.

No one was stuck with anything. They could've change the name hundred times before the script went into production, let alone voice recording stage. Heck, they could've change the name in post-production by simply cutting out "super" word from recorded lines. This is just classic example of not planning anything ahead. Nothing to be praised or regarded as "DB style". Just poor planning.

Sorry, EOZ Goten already owns monopoly on these words <3

We can see too cover of "Dragon Ball - Fukkatsu no F" special Manga by Akira Toriyama. There will be 1,500,000 copies for people that goes to the cinema.

While I agree with the idea that 'Saiyan God' probably would have been a better choice, and that they could have easily changed it at any point in time during the writing of the movie, the bolded part...probably wouldn't be a great idea. It would no doubt have made the audio sound really, really choppy.

The color looks the best when it's on the gray-ish side. In 1 screencap it's skewed more towards purple and it looks much cheaper
Also, wait a sec? This F special manga is actualy done by Toriyama?

Lol, ssj Gokû could be called handsome, yes.
He does have some money shots in the manga in ssj and base (there's a really good one after he heals from the virus and is healthy again) but I'm nowhere near my volumes atm.
Huh. The cover for Toriyama's special thing there is reminding me of one of the chapter covers from...uh...somewhere in the Cell Games. Fairly confident it's in Volume 17 (or 33 if you ignore the DB/Z split from Viz).

They've yet to reveal that Vegeta also gets the form. I wonder if they'll spoil that, too.
It always blows my mind that Japan does not care one bit about spoilers for battle shonen. They use that shit to sell the film so hard. It's very bizarre.
I'm just sticking with "Golden Super Saiyan" and "Blue Super Saiyan" because I simply can't be bothered with the name they actually chose.
Good thing Goku never transforms during the series epilogue... He does transform in Neko Majin, though. I wonder how the Blue Super Saiyan would look in a black-and-white manga. Would the hair simply be white, like Golden Super Saiyan? If so, then I guess (the non-colorized version of) Neko Majin could still work in that regard.
Getting a little disenchanted by all these transformations. I wasn't crazy about Super Saiyan God (or the ritual), and I can't say I'm too crazy about this. Not a dealbreaker, and it's not that I'm opposed to new ideas or anything like that. This is just overkill. Hopefully we don't get some new transformation with each film.

I'm glad we found out about Vegeta when we did. Everyone would complain about him being left behind if we thought it was only Gokû getting the power up again.
Especially after all those The Vegeta Move rumors.

Dragon Ball Volume 41.
So is the Volume F an actual manga drawn by Toriyama or just a cover for "movie guide" styled after old manga covers?

Spoiler:
But as the poster above shows, vol. 41 has a closer resemblance to this Vol of [F] cover as they are both volume covers rather than title covers and also don't feature characters above the title.
More importantly and intriguingly, however, is a special book labeled as “Jump Comics Godliest Edition” (JC最“神”刊; janpu komikkusu sai-“shin”-kan) — a pun on “the latest volume” (最新刊; saishinkan) — and entitled Dragon Ball Volume “F” (ドラゴンボール 巻『F』; doragon bōru kan “efu”) — a pun on how the original tankōbon volumes of the series were labeled. While it should be noted that it is not advertised to contain any actual comics, this booklet is set to compile the complete script of the film, along with conceptual material and commentary on the film itself. As this booklet will touch on the plot of the film in detail, the packaging advises attendees not to open it until after seeing the film.
