I would love for something like that to happen! :D but I wonder how much money it would cost for them to licence it?
Me too, I don't think it would happen with Nick Toons still owning the TV rights to Dragon Ball. They still play re-runs of Kai and the movies.

I had no idea Nicktoons was still airing the movies

If this was fake, Funimation is certainly taking their time saying as much.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

The UPC code, supposedly, is legitimate as it is coming out of Decatur, Texas where Funi DVD's come from... huh. Can anyone confirm this?

I finally got my account approved so I can start commenting on this!

Anyways, this seems to be looking real by what we have to go on so far. I wonder if FUNimation will also release this on Blu-Ray like they do with most, if not all, of their titles now a days.

Welcome to Kanzenshuu! I kinda doubt this would get a Blu-ray release. The only way would be if they did a new transfer or used the level sets quality. and I honestly don't see that happening. :( we'll be lucky if this is even real :P

Even though I'm not a dubbie, a full-series, Dragon Box-quality dub with a faithful script and Japanese music is a very intriguing prospect indeed.

I still remain skeptical until something official comes around, but it's still very bizarre. I feel like the market for this is, what, 25-years-old and up? Shit, it was certainly before my time. I just can't imagine that there's a market large enough for 15-year-old nostalgia. After all, most of the kids who started on Kai weren't even born when this cast was dubbing the series. :o

The cover has to be fake. With the vast amount of renders out there, this could've easily been put together by anyone with an ancillary knowledge of Photoshop or even Gimp. I can't even fathom an official product sporting DRAGON DRAGON, ROCK THE DRAGON, DRAGON BALL Z as a header. If it is, though... god help us.

From the locked thread, here's another source for this:

Pretty much. I figure if this was a hoax like that blatant Dragon Ball Blu-ray hoax recently, I'd imagine it would've been revealed as such by now.

Nah, you oughta thank coola for bringing this up.

Huh, well I was talking with Vegeta... and he said something along the lines that he wish he could do "a serious dub of Dragonball, straight to DVD. A more adult version with more of the swears and a better script." Seriously, that's what he said. I don't know if he is alluding to one that he did uncut or he is being literal and the dub is heavily censored. Ah well.

Saying "I was talking with Vegeta" kinda makes you look a bit insane.

Keep in mind that DBZ Level 1.1 had "I am the hope of the universe" on its box. Honestly, I find it weirder that something official would refer to this as "the Ocean dub".
Attitudefan wrote:A more adult version with more of the swears and a better script."
Because swearing makes something "more adult", right? To me, it seems like they're just pandering (is that the right word?) to 12 year old's.

I'm gonna stick to my theory that the product description is just a mistake, because honestly, having the Ocean Group redub both Z and Kai doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Maybe. Still kind of true... kind of, in a weird way hah! Yeah, but I think the script is for sure censored. Brian Drummond, I guess, is disappointed that maybe he wasn't given the same opportunity as Sabat and Schemmel?

They should do a full "fifteening" and make it sound like the dub of Cyber City Oedo, with characters swearing like Anime Labs wrote the scripts. It'll be like DBZ meets Tarantino. Get Christoph Waltz to voice Freeza while you're at it. Make it seem like Black Lagoon is for pussies.

In fact, get Maryke Hendrikse for Bulma and have her swear up a storm around Gohan. Make it seem like she's trying to seduce him.

Really spice things up.

But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

Are you saying you don't think Ocean did a "serious" dub of DBZ Kai?

Although I already own all 17 DVD volumes of the Ocean dub that Pioneer released (plus the first three movies), I wouldn't mind purchasing this, and putting it in my Dragon Ball collection. :D

I might go back and watch the Ocean Dub of Z again and decide if I want to buy it. One major factor would have to be the "re-dubbing" meaning the episodes Ocean never dubbed actually getting dubbed this time around.
