Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
It's disappointing, but not that surprising. We didn't see any artwork for the transformations of the Universe 6 characters either.
We have seen Mai though, at least in a kinda crappy quality. We got a look at the character settei back at....SDCC? They show Yamamuro's designs with Toriyama's original artwork for reference on the side. For this arc, he at least drew Zamasu, Black, the two versions of Future Trunks, Mai and Bluma on her hover scooter with Whis' communicator. Mai's was the only one that never got a clean shot posted though. Just a fuzzy group shot.

People, its a story for kids what did you expect a complex mindfuck storyline? Just enjoy the fighting scenes and the new characters in the series.

Zamasu is immortal.dblack wrote:...Zamasu is pissed, wants him to finish them and he may be the new Babidi and Black destroys him (already claimed his rose form is strongest in the universe).

If that's the case I might as well just watch wrestling.Pannaliciour wrote:People, its a story for kids what did you expect a complex mindfuck storyline? Just enjoy the fighting scenes and the new characters in the series.

We got next to nothing released from Toriyama for the U6 arc. Nothing fishy going on.SaiyanZ wrote:No Toriyama artwork for Rose and Future Mai makes this really fishy in regards to whether Toriyama created them imo. Of course, I don't think Toei would change Toriyama's outline that drastically as to include a new form, but you'd think we'd see it by now instead of Yamamuro's.
With "F" we also got Yamamuro art before the Toriyama art was officially revealed. My guess is we'll get a special book with all his Super designs and hopefully outline too sometime.

Like was already said, there's nothing of interest, although the part of Trunks asking himself "Then, why am I here?" because of the future supposedly changing is new, I think.Grimlock wrote:Super Saiyan Rosé Goku Black drawn by Akira Toriyama.
Is there something interesting here in this latest issue of Saikyo Jump?

I can't believe someone can copy Toriyama's art style.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:I'm pretty certain that's Yamamuro. It does give us a good idea of Toriyama's design for Super Saiyan Rosé Black though, as Yamamuro's tend to be practically identical (traced?), just "cleaned up" a bit.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I wouldn't say Yamamuro can mimic Toriyama, exactly. He's still victim to "action figure" lining. It's likely a previous design touched up, because he definitely doesn't pen like Toriyama on his own.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Oh no no no no no no no. N.O. NO. Yamamuro definitely can't mimic Toriyama. Not a chance. The only one I've seen that can actually fully emulate the man, and has been hailed as such by the creator himself, is Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru.Nejishiki wrote:I wouldn't say Yamamuro can mimic Toriyama, exactly. Uh...
I'll just say that Yamamuro looks fine to me. And that is all.

The guy reused that Goku Kamehamaha shot 3 times this isn't the least surprising.Ajay wrote:As others have noted, that's Yamamuro's character design, not Toriyama's. The Zamasu and Mai are also his.Grimlock wrote:Super Saiyan Rosé Goku Black drawn by Akira Toriyama.

It's just the same as the base design, but with different hair:

Yamamuro draws awful lego-man hair. Toriyama draws beautiful flowy hair. Ugh, I wish the anime didn't have such awful designs.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Easy way to differentiate between Toriyama and Yamamuro:
Toriyama's modern artstyle tends to have the eye outlines with rounder angles. Yamamuro's eye outlines tend to be square and sharper.

I guess this is the first time a villain claimed to be immortal? Pretty sure as far back as Piccolo when he started regenerating we've gotten the "immortal" line. If someone dusts them a la Gohan-Perfect Cell or Goku-Kid Buu id bet he doesn't get up.Noah wrote:Zamasu is immortal.dblack wrote:...Zamasu is pissed, wants him to finish them and he may be the new Babidi and Black destroys him (already claimed his rose form is strongest in the universe).

But Future Zamasu IS immortal. He got stabbed by F. Trunks and didn't die. I'm pretty sure "I'm immortal" and not dying equates to being immortal, as opposed to regenerative abilities like Buu.dblack wrote:I guess this is the first time a villain claimed to be immortal? But we got his illustrations for the U6 fighters and Champa and Vados. We don't have anything like that for Future Mai or SSj Rose. Granted he didn't draw Frost's forms either but still.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:We got next to nothing released from Toriyama for the U6 arc. What exactly is driving you to the assumption that we won't get them?SaiyanZ wrote:But we got his illustrations for the U6 fighters and Champa and Vados. We don't have anything like that for Future Mai or SSj Rose. Granted he didn't draw Frost's forms either but still.

We might, but you'd think we'd get it by now. Think about it, we have gotten illustrations for every new arc whether they be new characters or new forms.Anime Kitten wrote:What exactly is driving you to the assumption that we won't get them?SaiyanZ wrote:But we got his illustrations for the U6 fighters and Champa and Vados. I had a feeling that Black being another Zamasu was likely since they did mention that they share similar ki. I do wonder if Black is Goku from Future Trunks timeline or Goku from the main timeline but from a different timeline at the same time.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Now that things have calmed and I've taken the time to mull over the spoilers I have read, I've come to a relative conclusion on what my current state of mind is:
I think the most disappointing thing I have take away from this revelation is that ultimately Goku Black isn't truly his own character but instead seems to be just seems to be, at best, the further projections of another character, and at worst, just a clone. And while this does another layer to Zamasu's character to a degree, it also creates creates quite a bit of confusion. I mean, for all intents and purpose, there are at least three Zamasu's for three different timelines and have been doing there own kinds of shenanigans. This whole scenario sound very similar to what happened in the The Flash with Eobard Thawne travelling back in time and stealing Harrison Wells' body and assuming his identity. While I'm sure there is more to the story, I gotta be honest, I'm not really like the direction that they are going with this. It just seem like more time travel shenanigans are going to be involved and I really wish that Dragon Ball would move away from that plot device for good because it's always made the plot more convoluted than they need to be. For what's it worth I'm very curious to see how EP 61 pans out because that episode has many of questions to answer.
