It seems the only time it was successful was when Mutaito used it to trap King Piccolo for years.
The Mafuba doesn't have a very high success rate, bt regardless I'm excited to see how it turns out.

Is anyone thinking that all this recent travels of the gang to the past then back to the future could mess even more the timelines? Thus creating new ones, with other Zamasu's?

If I have to guess, I would say Zamasu will be sealed using Mafuuba ( not sure if Goku will be the one who will use it ) and Black will be defeated thanks to the teamwork of the SSJ trio, with Trunks delivering the final blow.namekiansaiyan wrote:I think it might work on one of them and then Goku finishes the other one off.omaro34 wrote:The Mafuba most likely won't work. Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Tien never got the chance to used the Evil Containment Wave in the manga. He busted the rice cooker while practicing. The but is most likely Roshi telling Goku that he will die if he used this technique, which is why he didn't want to show Tien that he knew it.Roronoa-pt wrote:The way I see it, Mafuuba shortens the life span of the user but doesn't necessarily kill the user. The technique is mortal when aged users use it. Kikoho was stated to shorten life span as well and nowadays Tenshinhan uses the technique like Goku uses Kamehameha. Given the fact Tenshinhan's KI is high and he's still young, Kikoho no longer endangerous his life.
The same logic can be applied to Mafuuba. Roshi and Mutaito died when they used the technique against Daimao. But neither Tenshinhan or Kami died ( Kami was old but his battle power was high enough ). You can argue that neither Kami or Tenshinhan sealed Daimao but Roshi didn't seal him either and died anyway.
Back in the days, Roshi didn't want to teach Tenshinhan the Mafuuba and probably doesn't want to teach Goku, either. The "but" word in the preview spoilers shows me that probably Goku isn't the one will be using the Mafuuba. I'm hoping they will bring either Ten or Piccolo to the future, probably Piccolo, to seal Zamasu.
We saw there there was no room, and the joke was that there was no room because Bulma came. There is no way five people, especially Piccolo, will fit in the time machine.namekiansaiyan wrote:It is an anime, they will fit in somehow and Toei will make a joke with Bulma and Roshi as well.HeroR wrote:The time machine can just barely fit four people and it's extremely crapped. How do you expect Goku and Bulma to fit Piccolo, Tien and Roshi? It would be better for Goku to just learn the move from his old master instead of dragging in three other people to do the exact same thing. Especially, as I mentioned before, Goku isn't going to let his friends kill themselves if he's the only one who needs to be sacrifice.namekiansaiyan wrote:I see that everyone now understands my point of this arc stopping and starting.
I know some people would like Goku to learn the Mafuba but this is the perfect oppurtunity to include Roshi, Piccolo and Tien without any nonsense and to me it would be Goku stealing something from them which will make him better and the others slightly worse.
For Mafuba if Piccolo, Tien and Roshi do it together then maybe it won't kill them and especially as they are stronger now.
Goku is stronger than all of them combine. So if them combining their powers don't kill them for some reason, it won't kill Goku who can do it himself.
Roshi railed against King Piccolo because he missed the rice cooker. He had King Piccolo dead to rights, and Piccolo knew it. Tien never got the chance to used the Evil Containment Wave in the manga because he broke the rice cooker. Kami failed because Piccolo knew about the technique and unlike his father, he found a way to reverse it, something Zamasu wouldn't know.omaro34 wrote:The Mafuba most likely won't work. The Evil Containment Wave only failed once and that was against Piccolo Jr. Roshi messed up, which is why King Piccolo escaped.

Kind of crazy how they were so secretive with spoilers at the beginning of the arc now they're giving us 2 weeks in advance
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I'm looking for something like that to happen, an immortal Zamasu with an entire army of Zamasu's+Black. I think the Omni-King will get rid of the army if something like that happened, and even if everyone is defeated and Zamasu is sealed away, he could still potentially get out later down the road.Noah wrote:Is anyone thinking that all this recent travels of the gang to the past then back to the future could mess even more the timelines? I read rumors about this arc ending in the episode 66, I wonder if they're true
It's not so bad, I wouldn't like this to stretch this even further

I can already see Zamasu being that evil Genie in a bottle trying to talk kids into letting him out, hopefully he possesses Goten down the road. I'm not sure Zamasu is a character they wan't to kill off but put him on the shelf for a while. Black's great and all but he can be recreated easily, if Zamasu dies he'll probably never be revived. I hope it lasts until at least 66, this arc was a fun one. I'm just glad it's not ending per usual Dragon Ball with the enemy getting ki-blasted to death, a sealing is something we haven't seen in a long time. I feel like Black has more usefulness than just for the sake of having Goku's body/strength, he may do something jaw-dropping soon. Also for round 4 Goku and Vegeta really need to use this opportunity to switch outfitsNoah wrote:I'm getting Movie 6 vibes from that lolXeztin wrote:I'm looking for something like that to happen, an immortal Zamasu with an entire army of Zamasu's+Black. Edit - I can see Goku and Vegeta using Spirit Bombs and such to weaken Zamasu before the sealing.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Wasn't it explained in a earlier episode that Trunks had to travel the exact same amount of time he traveled beforehand as not to screw up the timeline anymore? Like, setting the same co-ordanates to go through the same 'hole' in time.Noah wrote:Is anyone thinking that all this recent travels of the gang to the past then back to the future could mess even more the timelines? I think it's fantastic that the Mafuba/Evil Containment Wave is being brought back into play. Out of all the old-school techniques in the Dragon Ball, this is the one that has always upset me the most in regard to it not being used that much. Goku going to past also opens up a golden opportunity for Roshi to jump into the action too. It's very likely not gonna happen, but I can dream.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I'm still not entirely sure it's going to be the past-past that Goku even goes to to learn from Roshi. I'm thinking it'll be just back to his own time, the time we've been in for Super all the time prior to Trunks' reappearance.

Not sure where you heard said rumours from but they don't officially announce the end of the arc so we'll only know from episode titles or if a new arc is announced.Noah wrote:I'm getting Movie 6 vibes from that lolXeztin wrote:I'm looking for something like that to happen, an immortal Zamasu with an entire army of Zamasu's+Black. It is a great move to bring back Mafuba becuase Goku has never done it and maybe it will look much more badass mixed with god ki who knows i can not wait to see it
Mafuba makes perfectly sense
But still there are people who want to see a fusion Gogeta/Vegetto(Plothole) to kill an immortal lol..

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Oh it would be great if Roshi tells him to meet up with Roshi from Trunk's timeline to help him out. Things just keep getting better and better with this arc. I just hope the animation matches all the hype around these next few episodes.

I agree, in fact i was calling it, it's the perfect opportunity to include Piccolo and co but sadly it's unlikely, i mean, if they had kept Piccolo or Krillin around, it could happen, but they are not involved with the plot enough, and i could be wrong, i hope so.namekiansaiyan wrote:I see that everyone now understands my point of this arc stopping and starting.

What has God Ki got to do with it. Goku learning it takes away something that other characters have that he does not. This is something we don't want to happen. It needs to be Roshi, Tien or Piccolo for variety.Lujin_16 wrote:It is a great move to bring back Mafuba becuase Goku has never done it and maybe it will look much more badass mixed with god ki who knows i can not wait to see it![]()

It won't happen (probably), at least Roshi will do something, that's better than nothing, and if this ends up happening, well then i'll just have another reason to love this arc (so far)

I have a feeling that the Mafuba will fail on Gods and Goku will be the one that ends up getting sealed in some-kind of reverse technique. Actually, that'd be sort of nice for once. I feel like this arc wants us to feel as helpless as possible for Goku and co.
