I'm really enjoying TFS Goku. I liked the unexpected squeal in this episode along with Goku "hanging up" on Kaio-sama so he wouldn't have to promise not to fight Freeza. I also liked how TFS Goku willed a muffin into existence a few episodes back. :3

That's because the writers actually understand the character.

I'd say TFS could do an amazingly hilarious dub of their Kai theme to great effect. That and a real Cocky Version of Saiyan blood that turns pathetic half way through as Freeza beats his ass, yet he keeps singing (mostly about the pain, failure, death of pride, etc) would be my two major Kai material wants.

And I'd argue that we're seeing more of that charm from Schemmel in the new Kai dub, especially after the early episodes.

As for Mike as Appule...

Grandiose gestures aside, I do approve of your Appule. I had to do a double take to make sure it even was you doing the voice. It was a decent distance from the regular Mike voice (A fan-favorite character, I assure you).

As to Kaiser and the rest of the fantastic guys at TFS, keep up the good work!

I still say Ian Corlett had that aspect down pat. Hell, you can even hear the same kind of personality in his other voices like Mega Man and Cheetor. TFS just does what they do best. They turn the dial to 11 and hilarity ensues.

Well Son Goku always struck me as a little dense but it's less something wrong with his noggin (well except that fall when he was a kid) or IQ and more because of his naivete. Goku pretty much reminds me of the "Wise Fool" trope which has often been used on heroes or sidekicks throughout the history of fiction.

TFS's take on Goku is basically a much more ridiculous and unhinged version of the actual character. Even Son Goku took Kaio-sama's warning seriously even if he did ignore it but as we saw in the last episode of Abridged, Goku just sees Freeza as a new, awesome playmate.
