Ordinarily I'd put graphics on a secondary judgment, but considering that this is supposed to be the Sparking! series' first foray into next gen, it should show us something in that regard the way Burst Limit did for the companion Budokai series.

The controls are tricky to pick up and play, albeit nothing I can't get used to. But those of us who put a lot of hours into METEOR! will probably be thrown for a loop the way I was initially.

In general, my reaction to this latest incarnation is mixed. On the one hand, it's certainly the most complex and in-depth way to play DragonBall yet, while on the other it simply isn't enough of either to justify itself or its connection to the series. Given the current generation of consoles and what they've demonstrated themselves to be capable of, I would expect to be able to do a lot more in games like Burst Limit and Raging Blast than play warmed-over versions of their forebears. I mean, Christ; I can't even direct a Kamehame-Ha to follow my opponent, for crying out loud. There's so much more a game could and should do to make the experience more authentic that just . . . well, hasn't shown up in any DragonBall game to date, and at this rate I don't expect a truly authentic experience to happen anytime soon.

I'll buy it because I still play METEOR! competitively nearly three years later and want to see how the new game stacks up. But there's got to be something more to DragonBall games than charge ki, special attack, run away, repeat.

I finally got to play the demo last night. I thought the game looked pretty good. Not Burst Limit, by any stretch, but I've definitely seen worse on my 360.

The controls confused me for a good couple of matches. I was never hardcore into the Sparking! series (I never played any but the first one), but I much preferred the "Up + Triangle" thing I recall it using to the "Use the right thumb stick and hope it does what you want" we're being forced to use now. It's a futile feeling similar to trying to do the more complicated combos in Street Fighter IV with a 360 controller (Yeah, I just compared SFIV and DBBL, sorta. I guess). I managed to start winning some fights, but the controls still feel far too lose for my liking.

I almost feel like even though the game is moving at 60 fps, the controls are trying to play a game that's moving at 30 fps (if that makes any sense - granted, it probably won't, because it's a God-awful analogy). My inputs never seemed to really do what I wanted when I wanted them to, but rather a good second or so later. Maybe it's just me, though.

Also, is it possible to not be locked-on to your opponent, and I'm just being bad at games? Because that was one of my favorite parts of playing Sparking! with my brother - Just flying around and blowing up buildings.

I didn't have as much of an issue with the camera as I thought I would by watching videos, though.

It definitely isn't a day one purchase for me, though, I rarely buy games on day one, anyway. Once this hits the $20 or $30 area, though, I'll be all over it. It seemed like a simple, fun little game, which I don't have nearly enough of for my 360.

Honestly I think you guys(the ones bashing the game) were either 1. expecting a lot from this game. or 2. are asking for too much.

I mean really how many fighting games can you say have had complete overhalls where the sequal was nothing like the prequal. for example how much different was Tekken 5 from 4, or MK: A from MK: Deception, or Soul Calibur 4 from 3, or DOA 4 from 3. But then again the question could be how much different are they from each other strategy wise?. They all have 2 main strategies 1. bombard your opponent with combos and special moves barely giving them a chance to breath. 2. keep your distance and wait for your opponent to strike then you counter it, do this repeatedly bofore going for the killing blow. The same thing goes for DBZ games.

But I think most of your comlaints go towards the graphics but to me there nice and they actually resemble the anime.
It's not too late. One day, it will be.

I've been hearing rumors that GameStop is pulling back the release to November 6th?

I have yet to post in this thread, because I don't own a next-gen system. But I do read it every now and then.

And I felt this post deserved a reply.

MK: A from MK: D lacked a second fighting style, and specialized fatalities.

Soul Calibur 4 from 3 reduced the difficulty quite a lot. SC3 introduced a bs guard impact system and the com players could rape your face off on the third stage. SC4 felt like a very fine tuned Soul Calibur, while SC3 felt like a mean developer's release, meant for extremely hardcore SC players lol.

The others I can't say. So yeah. :D I do agree though, most sequels aren't entirely different from the previous game.

Not just you, because that's exactly how I felt about the gameplay. My fingers were pressing buttons, but nothing was progressing until several seconds later.
Gohan: At least he doesn't have his sword out anymore.
Kuririn: Yeah, and your dad put his finger away too.

I think I will wait until December to buy Raging Blast via Amazon. Hopefully somebody doesn't like it and sells there. Never pay the full price ;)

I love it.
I love the right thumbstick being used for the specials

You can fire off a Kamehameha after knocking your enemy a few hundred feet away WITHOUT looking like a dumbass punching and kicking the air just so you can blast one off.

It's better.

Which...wasn't a problem since Budokai 1.

I remember having to have to do a combo for the stuff like a Kamehameha in Tenkaichi too, if I'm not mistaken.

I haven't played a DBZ since BT2.
And I don't even have that anymore

You remember wrong, it's just a two button combination for every Tenkaichi game and Budokai 2-Inf.World.

But sparking is really easy.
You can use one energybar combo with only that up+triangle.
At least in dragon rush you never know if you will make it.
It is really for kids, since my 12 years old can do it.
He is not so good in B3 thou.
