I never liked the coverart, either. To me, it doesn't feel like "Dragonball" as much as this new set does. It feels like some sort of cheap nu-metal band poster that happens to feature a Dragonball Z character on it.mAcChaos wrote:Why does the box art always suck...
I don't need my Dragonball Z DVDs trying to compensate for being an animated series by trying to look all "ZOMG HARDCORE" on the front. It's evident in many nations that Dragonball sells itself without having to revamp it to make it look like it's more than it really is.
Sure, the dark color scheme in general is half-decent. I'll give it that. I also understand that a lot of people like those covers and they're allowed to. It's not my place to tell people what they're supposed to think. I just don't think that the scheme fits Dragonball Z too well.

I've never really liked any of the covers from the US releases. The old Pioneer ones weren't anything spectacular (though, pretty standard for animé releases back in the day), but at least they put a little thought into them.
In any case they're a lot better than the screencap + logo method that FUNi used, which is a pretty cheap way out, but with three episodes to a disc I suppose it's almost understandable. What annoys me the most though is when they re-draw things instead of using the official artwork, like with the god-awful Movie 7 release.
UUE just looks like someone overdosed while trying to make a cool DBZ avatar in Photoshop. The worst part is that red has never been symbolic of DBZ, and it's such a strong red, and it's the only color on there. I mean, at least use complimentary colors, fuck.

Well we know now that the UUE's are completly worthless:

You can buy the first 7 DVDs for $8.01, including shipping. This really pisses me off a lot becuase I had planned to sell my UUE's in order to buy the new box set. now before you bit my head off just listen to my reasons:
1. I never got to see all of the UUE episodes when they were on CN.
2. I don't want to wait a undetermined amount of time for a possible re-re-re-release.
Yea I'd like to keep my UUE's just becuase the aspect ratio isn't totally screwed up, but i'm a broke college student. I want my DBZ and the only way I can get is by selling my UUE's. although Funi could've made this easier for reasons I already stated in the "900 Minute" thread.

Well, that's just the starting bid. I'm sure it'll go up higher than that. I recently sold my UUEs on eBay individually, starting bids at $5 each. A couple stayed at that price, but some went for $10 per disc.
