Gonna tune in for this, although I'm not exactly wetting my pants over it. Something about it just doesn't appeal to me.
Animation looks a little off too, from what I've seen in previews.

Yeah, so, wow. Shida Naotoshi did two really awesome cuts for One Piece episode #590. Also, Super Saiyan 3 shirtless Son Gokuu makes his animated debut.

So that IS the first shirtless ssj3 ever!
I was equally surprised he went ssj3 (it looked good) and that he lost his shirt.
The special wasn't bad; it was ok for what it was, and I did laugh a few times.
It does make me super-grateful that BOG is a movie and not a series though; super-weird watching DB with a weekly-series-budget when I've gotten used to all those BOG commercials.
I'd like to point out that Franky trying to make "hey you're a cyborg too, huh?" conversation with 18 was neat (and her completely ignoring his "SUPER" pose XD ).
It's so hard to not feel like Goku's just messing around with how he was mostly taking everyone on in base form for the most part. XD Also makes the promo art where Luffy and Toriko are all excited and Goku's all phoning in make sense.
Also, sad I didn't get to see Vegeta face the giant slimy tentacle worm monster (Oh inside Buu episodes; this would've been fun X3 ) but this was still fun.

The Toriko half definitely had a lower budget. While the One Piece half was rife with stills too it at least had Shida. If this level can be matched again I'd like to see another three way crossover.

Oh I'd watch another crossover (if they include DB like they did here). It did entertain me. It's not Battle of Gods, but I still liked it well enough.

So during the first half they actually made Goku look superior to the other 2. Sure they "nerfed" him, but I didn't mind at all. During that race and afterwards during the fight between the three, Toriko and Luffy actually looked like they were putting forth quite a bit of effort, while Goku seemed to be playing, and just enjoying the situation. He just kept saying, "Wow, you two sure are strong", and then we see him, at one point, fending off against the 2 of them at the same time. So, people who were dissatisfied about Goku being put as an equal to Toriko and Luffy should be quite happy. Toriko and Luffy certainly look like equals, Goku was quite a bit stronger than them.
Overall, the special, was quite entertaining, and when put in comparison to the One Piece X Toriko previous specials, then this one was incredibly brilliant
I loved the interactions between all the characters, although I'll have to wait for subs to know most of what they were talking about, but the plot was very easy to follow.
The enemy that appeared on the 2nd half wasn't all that bad. Sure, we Dragon Ball fans had to suspend our disbelief a bit, but I pretty much accepted why this monster was such a treat, even to the Dragon Ball characters.
All in all, it was a cool thing to see, and I wouldn't mind to see more specials like this.

Yes, Goku visited me once. He turned to me while I was still speechless, and said, "You've drank too much"...

Toriko half comes first, right?
Re: One Hour Toriko/One Piece/DBZ crossover to Air April 7
Yes. Toriko airs before One Piece.DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:Toriko half comes first, right?
EDIT: Derp, I should have numbered the folders so they would be in the proper order.

Woops, never mind. The whole special is self-contained and isn't broken up by the time-slots, right?JulieYBM wrote:Yes. Toriko airs before One Piece.DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:Toriko half comes first, right?

It is. After the Toriko timeslot ends it goes to commercial and returns with the One Piece narrator recapping the first half.DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:Woops, never mind. Didn't expect to see Yajirobe and Karin in there.
EDIT: Battle of Gods BGM, too.

I recognized OPZ BGM, but I haven't heard BOG's soundtrack in its entirety outside the mini-samples (or heard them enough to recognize it yet T_T ).
Cool that they used some of it though. :3

One of the Pilaf-related pieces plays when Goten and Trunks fuse.

Luffy and Toriko were useless, Goku could have won even without them buying time.

It is an enjoyable special once I disregarded any power level logic and a few other things. I have only seen it raw though so the dialogue could increase how much I enjoy it.

I wouldn't say so as the Spirit Bomb takes time. Goku would have been interrupted easily. Though if you want to go by full power level rankings then Goku should have easily made it to the flag as he can fly and moves much quicker then the slow running speed everyone had. Goku would have utterly destroyed the other 3 in their 4 way fight without SSJ. The monster after absorbing Gohans energy could have cemented the end depending if it got his full power, I like to think he only got base or non power up strength similar to Gero and Piccolos situation (which would make Toriko and Luffy useless). It also got SSJ Gotenks which would have made the monster way too strong for the others to handle or even damage. Goku would need SSJ3 to beat it at that point (which he used). Though the best thing to do is ignore this or you won't have as much of a good time. It still bothered me some of this stuff, but the show was better when I let it go.JeffJarrett wrote:Luffy and Toriko were useless, Goku could have won even without them buying time.

Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Woah, weird. Vegeta uses two Gyallic Hou against Zoro and Zebra.
Re: One Hour Toriko/One Piece/DBZ crossover to Air April 7
Yeah that was odd. I also wonder why they repeat that scene and then not show what happens after. In my head canon Vegeta kills the other 2 and they have to be wished back with the dragonballs. Though chances are they survived Vegeta.JulieYBM wrote:Woah, weird. Vegeta uses two Gyallic Hou against Zoro and Zebra.
