Wait, will there be actual redubbing going on? Isn't this just the Saiyan arc? If this is the ocean dub, aren't they just releasing the one from the singles?

I'd like to see them release both arcs on 4 discs releases containing 6/7 episodes with the recaps and NEP. I'd also like to see a few interviews or some special features, but that's a long shot. I would also like if they release the untouched dub. You know, the one where Roshi says "I smell death in the air," before whoever went back in and got rid of any trace of death.

If this really is redubbed, I'll snatch that shit up right away. If it isn't...I'll still probably get it at some point.
I will say, though, that cover looks fake as hell.

Well it does look pretty similar to the old Pioneer releases so maybe it looks that way on purpose. http://www.kanzenshuu.com/home-video/na ... /series01/

So, after thinking about this for a while, I don't want this. I would really want more Dragon Boxes. What was the point of that survey if they were just gonna pull this shit? I mean, c'mon FUNi! You have the Dragon Box movie masters! Give me those, please. I would pay for 2 of those over this! I'm happy for the fans who are excited for this, but I expected a better release from FUNimation.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

This sums up my thoughts for the most part. I don't own most of the movies or the original Dragon Ball yet, in the hopes that a Dragon Box release will be heading here at some point. Plus, I really don't wanna buy DBZ fully, a third time. I've got all the Z Dragon Boxes and all of Z Kai, that's out so far. But, I'm happy for the fans that want this type of release. It's just unexpected and odd from FUNimation in 2013, to go back to the first attempt of Z they ever did, with the cast that isn't their in-house (or current) one. If I didn't own all of Z already in a nice format, I would probably pick this up.

You should at least wait until you know it is actually better quality. The masters they have now could possibly be worse since they're probably very old.

Maybe. Still kind of true... kind of, in a weird way hah! Yeah, but I think the script is for sure censored. Brian Drummond, I guess, is disappointed that maybe he wasn't given the same opportunity as Sabat and Schemmel?
Are you saying you don't think Ocean did a "serious" dub of DBZ Kai?
That's what it sounds like. But maybe he was alluding to a serious dub and I read him wrong :/
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

After pondering it over, I'm still on the fence with this release. After owning the Pioneer releases for years, and eventually selling them once the uncut stuff (Season Sets/Dragon Boxes) started coming out, I think the only way I would ever pick up this Ocean set is if there's any kind of substantial presentation improvement (uncut, redubbed, better video masters.)

If it's only the original made-for-TV dub just slapped on a DVD, I'd rather spend that money on completing my Kai collection...
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

if it's uncut..I wonder if there going to use the later FUNi title cards?

Edit.. Also.. Imagine

If this was like the Ultimate DBZ DVD. Like sort of a Dragon Box 2.1 with Ocean, FUNi (w broadcast/Jp music) and japanese audio.

If it's uncut and redubbed then it's just DBZ with a different cast. This seems like a nostalgia product. I assume FUNi still has the audio from the mid 90s and instead of letting it sit there, they are trying to monetize it again. We live in an age of niche programming. Perhaps they are trying to reach the nostalgic.

It's DBZ. Everything is a nostalgia product.

Fair enough, but FUNi's in house dub is still in print, whereas the Ocean dub isn't.

I'd assume this will also be an online only release, like you wont see in stores. I wonder why they decided to release ocean again (well besides $$$$$ lol)?

What makes you think that this won't hit in stores? Walmart has gotten every Funimation release as far as Dragonball goes.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128
