Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
So it looks like Champa's first appearance will be around episode 5 in the anime. And the scene where he talks to Beerus is possibly after he fights with the SSG on Earth (because in the manga, Beerus goes straight Earth; unless the manga is different again)?
I like it this way, developing Champa through small little side-stories while BoG and RF are being adapted into a TV format and then making him one of the antagonists of the U6 arc. It's weird that Champa knows of Beerus (and presumably, Beerus knows of Champa) and Champa speaks of waking up (while in Universe 7), maybe he's actually from this universe all along?

From the summary, it really doesn't feel like he is from another universe after all.

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
It seems like it continues from where chapter 1 was left. Chapter 1 had Goku taking the money & going to Kaio for training, while Beerus remembered about Super Saiyan God from his dream. Chapter 2 has Beerus going to Kaio where Goku trains, while we see Champa & his attendant noticing their battle.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:So we're apparently just getting teaser chapters that cover content set to air shortly after the magazine releases. It was kinda fun having a manga with slight differences from the anime for chapter one, but if it's always only going to cover a fraction of the plot, I honestly would have rather he stuck to drawing Victory Mission.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
It kind of leaves off where the last chapter ended, but not really. From what the summary says, we're skipping Beerus and Whis returning back home to fully remember Super Saiyan God with Yogengyo, which is what will point them towards Kaio's. That may not be an overly important scene in the grand scheme of things, but it's still a continuity disruption if its not included.
Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
How can there already be a summary of the next manga chapter?
I know we get leaks sooner than the official release dates, but shouldn't this chapter first come out a whole week from now?
How exactly does the release Schedule for V-Jump Work?
Also I kind of counted on Champa getting revealed already in the BoG arc, but only getting a proper introduction afterwards, maybe even after the RoF arc.

V-Jump releases every month on the 21st, unless it falls on a Sunday. Leaks usually occur around the 16th. This one is early, but that's not unheard of (it's just Yu-Gi-Oh people that typically seem to obtain it this far in advance).

This time the official date is the 18th. Four days earlier is when it tends to leak.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:V-Jump releases every month on the 21st, unless it falls on a Sunday. Eh? Does the 21st fall on a holiday period or something this month?

Not sure what's going on honestly. Because almost always it's the 21st. Like next month will be the 21st.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Eh? Does the 21st fall on a holiday period or something this month?

Is there no mention of Champa coming from another universe? I'm hoping there is more than one God per universe and they work in shifts. As much as I like Beerus, I don't want 12 of him.

I believe there's a holiday on the 20th, but I'm not sure how that would affect the 21st...

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
Perhaps Champa is the God of Creation? But if Beerus can hand the role of God of Destruction off to Goku so easily it's a weird coincidence that Champa and alt-Whis appear to be the same species as Beerus and Whis. Another idea, Champa could be stranded in this universe for whatever reason.
Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
There was that one screenshot of Beerus egging Champa on from a while back; Champa could just be Beerus' rival; the Vegeta to Beerus' Gokû.
On hiatus.
Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
Well chapter 2 is out. The fight went pretty much exactly like in BoGs. There was a slight difference in that Goku attacked Beerus as a SSJ first, then a SSJ2, and then a SSJ3, but it was essentially the same as in BoGs.
Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
Just read the latest chapter. I like how Goku fights from SSJ first and I really want to know what Champa is doing.
I ask thou, WHY MUST IT BE ME?

Are you reading this? If you are, I just want to let you know that I'm a GREAT GUY.

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
The fight was certainly more interesting, but I'm not sure if I like how Chapter 2 was presented. We'll need to wait for the episode to find out, but if the manga is fairly on point with the anime's events for this fight, it kinda feels like they've altered everyone to be overly cocky and overzealous. I miss Beerus' calmer demeanor from the film. :/
Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
One particular thing to note is that Kaio knows of Whis hence him calling him Whis-sama whereas in BoGs he never even addresses him, which gives off the feeling that he has no idea who he is. Interesting.

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous, Goku's boredom has really got to himTheDevilsCorpse wrote:The fight was certainly more interesting, but I'm not sure if I like how Chapter 2 was presented. I personally think it's the low page count that's really limiting Toyotaro and forcing him to speed through all these sequences.
Still interesting to see Champa there and it seems like he's heading for Earth too?
Is this where the arc will go the way the poster featuring Champa holding Earth implied it would?
Another note I have, is that it's really weird the first leaks we get have already been translated into Chinese or Korean. Do they deliver to Korean buyes quicker or what?
Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
There's an english translation and scanlation of the chapter that's out as well. That's the one I read.
