I disagree. Schemmel has improved immensely and sounds much closer to Nozawa. Same for Vegeta and Piccolo (moreso general improvement than being closer to JPN for him).SylentEcho wrote:I dread this dub!Schemells's Goku is all wrong and Sabat's Vegeta and Piccolo are just terrible!
There being no dub so far, has resulted in a lot of people watching the original Japanese version and that's the way things are meant to be watched, in my opinion. In their original language and form.

You are aware that Funimation's eventual home release will have both the dub and the Japanese version with subtitles, right?
No matter which version you're a fan of, Funi licensing it is a good thing
The Japanese version won't just stop existing
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation English Dub Official Announcement and Discussion Thread
This is a joke post, right? The FUNI voice actors sound the best they've ever been and fit the characters perfectly.SylentEcho wrote:I dread this dub!Schemells's Goku is all wrong and Sabat's Vegeta and Piccolo are just terrible!

If you want 1999-era performances go watch the ancient Season 3 dub.

Talking as a person that's not a fan of FUNi's dub I have to say that from the clip they released this is probably the best perfomance Schemell ever gave as Goku.SylentEcho wrote:I dread this dub!Schemells's Goku is all wrong and Sabat's Vegeta and Piccolo are just terrible!

Why? Dubs exist for everything you know. Kids in Japan aren't gonna watch says Dexter's Lab in English audio with Japanese subs the same way kids won't watch Super on tv with Japanese audio w/ English subtitles.SylentEcho wrote:I dread this dub!Schemells's Goku is all wrong and Sabat's Vegeta and Piccolo are just terrible!

Outside of animation big Hollywood films have dubs in other languages. Watching foreign stuff in their original form seems to be a very niche practice. Anime wise pretty much everything nowadays gets dubbed take FUNi's recent successful simuldub scheme.
You may prefer to watch things in their original form and that's fine but that doesn't mean it has to be that way for everyone. I personally despite getting comfortable with the Japanese cast still prefer dubbed DB because in my natural tongues I enjoy it more. Watching subbed without understanding Japanese is a severe hinderance to me I have to read what their saying then imagine that's what their saying like jokes take a while to register in my mind like for example in BoG watched it subbed first it was fine enjoyable but when the dub came out I enjoyed even more and picked up on things I'd missed before like Beerus and his anime line. To me watching DB subbed will never change unless I learn Japanese. The Japanese cast is phenomenal but I can't enjoy them to the fullest.
As for the actual English dub, Sean is pretty much 1:1 with Nozawa aslong as he keeps having strict direction. Sabat's been great as both for a while now too. Beerus, Whis, Jaco, Freeza etc are all pretty much 1:1 to their Japanese counterparts anyway. You don't have to like the dub that's fine but what I don't understand why are you dreading something you obviously not going to watch anyway?

As a person woh doesn't live in the US I have a question, is the Toonami block weekly or daily?

Interesting that Funimation's blog post specifies that Toonami will be airing "Season 1" (which they define as the first 26 episodes). I guess that's probably all Funimation has dubbed so far.
Makes me wonder if Super will get replaced with something else after episode 26 and then come back for "Season 2" later on.

It's the perfect marketing strategy. Episode 26 is the penultimate episode of the ROF Arc. If they leave the viewers with a Next Episode Preview for the conclusion to the arc, that'll keep most interested, I'd imagine.Theophrastus wrote:Makes me wonder if Super will get replaced with something else after episode 26 and then come back for "Season 2" later on.

Unless they do what they have done with Kai and have a marathon at some point. I believe when toonami was on the fight with Freeza they aired 7 episodes on the same night . I'm unsure if they ever did something like that again.Gafonso6 wrote:

Are we getting two eps of Super then? One at 8 and one at 11.30? Or just repeat?
Italy's press release said the same thing so it's probably nothing to sweat about. Likely means we'll get another announcement near the end of the F arc to drum up interest after the F arc kills everyone haha.Theophrastus wrote:Interesting that Funimation's blog post specifies that Toonami will be airing "Season 1" (which they define as the first 26 episodes). Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation English Dub Official Announcement and Discussion Thread
Dubbing the first 2 re-telling Arcs to me is so redundant, as we already have the movies in English. Sabat and the others may want to save their vocal cords for the real meat of Super. Although I doubt it would happen.

Probably not, it's probably going to happen the same that's happening in Portugal, with 2 episodes airing per week we are almost reaching epsode 26 and the dubs for episodes 27-52 are just going to start this month so it can air right after episode 26.Theophrastus wrote:Interesting that Funimation's blog post specifies that Toonami will be airing "Season 1" (which they define as the first 26 episodes). If you trust Geekdom 101 he said that a censored version will air at 8pm and then the uncut one will air at 11:30pm.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:http://www.toei-animation-usa.com/press ... t_Swim.pdf

Pretty sure he was just speculating? Sabat did say they recorded an edited dub but went on to say they hope they never use it which implies it was back up incase they got a kids channel.Gafonso6 wrote:If you trust Geekdom 101 he said that a censored version will air at 8pm and then the uncut one will air at 11:30pm.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:http://www.toei-animation-usa.com/press ... t_Swim.pdf
