New Live-Action Dragon Ball Photo(s) Discussion
It's entirely possible.
The constant delays of an "actual trailer" along with the designs swiftly being denied of having anything to do with the movie and having people come back, along with bringing in more extras to redo scenes seems like they're completely aware of the fact that fans are indeed not liking/hating/disgusted/whatever with the results they've seen so far.
We're about four months away from the movie's release and not a single public trailer has appeared. Any one seen any posters in person at their movie theaters? I ask because I haven't and it seems really odd for a movie of this budget that's also being touted as a "blockbuster" to not have any actual advertising going on at all.
Hell, it seems like everything we've seen in regards to advertising has been done over in Japan. They're going out of their way to let people know there that a movie is in the works. Meanwhile, not a word has been said aside from web posts in the US. Which is extremely odd considering who the target audience really is.
It seems to really only further support my idea that they're trying to hook Japan in first and then use that as some sort of way of getting Americans interested.

Frankly, Fox doesn't have any reason to care what nerds on the internet say. We are such a hugely insignificant minority. I really doubt that we have a Fox executive crying in his bed at night because some people on the internet said mean things about his trailer, and is now yelling "NO WAY. I'LL MAKE A *BETTER* TRAILER, AND YOU MEANIES WON'T GET TO SEE IT BECAUSE IT'S SO AWESOME." No.Chrono Trigger wrote:So the movie comes out in APRIL and they still don't have a trailer for it? I bet you that shit they showed back in October was the actual trailer but they saw how much hate it got and panicked. I bet you this movie is going to end up getting canceled or something. The other blog's alluding to the trailer still not being ready and that it may not be airing with The Day the Earth Stood Still
I have no reason to disbelieve the official story. As far as I'm concerned, they probably just hit a budget or scheduling snag of some sort, and couldn't get something done in time. Or the thoughts about the trailer not being ready are just rumors.

A hugely insignificant minority would be if either just the Japanese version supporters complained or if just the dub version supporters complained.
As a whole, a HUGE chunk of Dragon Ball fans and even people who aren't fans have all noticed a vast amount of differences and have also called foul on what they've seen. Non-fans have gone as far as to basically see this as a terrible attempt at being a kung-fu/super hero movie.

Dub reversioning fans and Original fans still constitute "nerds", which is certainly a minority in the blockbuster film business. A lot of internet crying very rarely equates to sales in any significant way. We saw this with Jericho, where a vocal minority made a LOT of sound and got the show back on the air....just for it to enjoy far worse ratings and ad revenue because the internet crowd was getting it streamed or through torrents, or they just weren't enough people.Tsukento wrote:Say wha-?Super Ghost Kamikaze wrote:Frankly, Fox doesn't have any reason to care what nerds on the internet say. The fact is, the loud angry people on the internet are almost ALWAYS the minority when dealing with the kinds of groups that Hollywood movies and TV shows are aimed at.
It seems to me that Fox wouldn't have a reason to completely retool all or parts of the movie just for the upset fans. That's a pipe dream.

Well their listening to somebody because the movie comes out in April and it's already December but I can tell you now almost nobody knows that a Dragon Ball movie is supposed to even come out next year. I mean like Tsukento said I haven't even seen a teaser poster for this movie. It comes out in APRIL!!! With the way things are going you'd think Fox was only making the movie for Japan! You got Chatwin and Emmy flying over there for some kind of convention while on the other hand there hasn't been any support over here in the states! No Comi-Con appearance or nothing! I'm calling it now and saying this movie is gonna end up going straight to DVD or canceled. They just aren't taking it serious.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

If the Internet is such an extreme minority, then the torrents wouldn't have mattered.Super Ghost Kamikaze wrote:Dub reversioning fans and Original fans still constitute "nerds", which is certainly a minority in the blockbuster film business. Also, if the Internet was such a minority, Rick Astley wouldn't've Rickrolled the Macy's parade right in the middle of the Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends portion of the show. They even freakin' called it a "Rickroll" on television!
I work at a movie theatre, and we don't get posters for films until abuot 3 months, maybe less, before it's released. (We just got the "TDTESS" poster at the end of October) So, I don't think we'll se any posters in theatres until at least January.Tsukento wrote:about four months away from the movie's release and not a single public trailer has appeared. .
Anyway, if they are going to re-do this movie, I want them to take their time. If they are listening to the complaints of us "interweb dwellers" then I want them to do all they need to do to do what they think needs to be done.

It's being delayed to January?Chuquita wrote:Since the trailer's being moved to some time in January, does that mean it might be possible that the movie itself will be moved/delayed again?
Unless, by some chance, you were referring to my post. I was saying not to expect a movie poster in theatres by January.(I'm not sure if you might have misread that)

I don't know where I'll be come then, but I'll still be looking out for those novels/chapter books incase they do still release them in February as planned.
On hiatus.

I've been trying to be optimistic about this movie the whole time, but it's looking worse and worse. I'm still keeping my head up though. Maybe all this time they're taking will be worth it. At least, a lot better than what it would have been on the original August 15th release.

Honestly, when they pull stuff like this it gets me more interested than the few tiny promotions they have done so far; because I'm like "is it that big a stinker that they have to keep procrastinating about it?"
I mean, I follow tv series way more than movies, but it feels like FOX is placing their bets more on Wolverine now (which will obviously make lots of cash because Marvel's fanbase is HUGE).
If they were to delay the movie, where would they put it? I mean, if they delay it just a bit, Wolverine or Harry Potter will destroy it.
So....next August?
On hiatus.

Oh, please...pleeaaase don't say that.
But if it does happen, then I guess it's to make the movie better.

Sorry. ^^;;
I can only imagine they'd delay it in order to fix/edit/better the movie.
But really with Wolverine in May and Harry Potter in July; I mean if you move Dragon Ball to June it'll almost be assured to be buried by both of them. That's why I said August. Because any further than August and then you'd be threatened with the big-tier "Holiday Family Films" like The Princess and the Frog; Disney's first 2-D animated film since that farm movie several years ago.
On hiatus.

It's a little hard to believe that any business looking to make money would ignore the popular opinion of it's target audience.Super Ghost Kamikaze wrote:It seems to me that Fox wouldn't have a reason to completely retool all or parts of the movie just for the upset fans. That's a pipe dream.
I mean, people were so turned off by their first trailer that they actually convinced themselves it "didn't count" as a real trailer. I never bought that spin. It might've been for an expo, and excuse my non-tycoon mind set, but wouldn't you want to impress the big spenders and business folk even more than you would everyone else?
It's all very suspicious to me. They premiered a trailer with plans of premiering "a" trailer not too long after, which is suddenly, mysteriously pushed back by several months after the trailer was leaked and met with a poor reception?
And that bullshit about the concept artist wanting his pictures taken down because...
Yes, it's so far-fetched, in fact, that it was used in your video interview while discussing your work as the concept artist for the movie. Gee, must've been a horrible mix up, I'm sure. I can't imagine how anyone got the impression it was concept art. They must've left off the disclaimer during the interview! It may lead people and Dragon Ball fans to think this is actual concept art, but it’s not.
I'm sick of everything that escapes Fox's hush-hush campaign and met with a negative response being denied as not being real, while at the same time tripping over their own feet while trying to get out some "real" footage.
What's next? Are we going to find pictures of a butt-ugly fish monster in a kame-gi, followed by a desperate attempt to convince us it's not Chatku?
Oh, wait...
