Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
Ha, it's a sad time when we can all agree that "Mr. Savage" is an acceptable name compared to what FUNimation ended up sticking him with.

What are the chances of them using "Mark" to some extent?

Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
I'd say probably non-existant.

So the episodes that were taken away to make the 276 ep version are all in the first 70 episodes of the Dragonboxes?!linkdude20002001 wrote:Well, if you've seen all 276 episodes of the original dub, and you want to see the episodes you missed, get Dragon Box Z volumes one and two. I know you want the Faulconer score, but there is no such thing for episodes 1~70. With the first two Dragon Box Z volumes, you'll be able to watch every skipped episode.mystic trunks wrote:Ideally I would want The full(291 episode) Dub with US soundtrack and an accurate( Kai-like)script... probabaly will never happen though... Anyone selling the "Orange Bricks"?![]()
I'd also recommend you get Kai; it's got an amazing dub (well, for a Dragon Ball series anyways).

Yes.mystic trunks wrote:So the episodes that were taken away to make the 276 ep version are all in the first 70 episodes of the Dragonboxes?!
It was all a result of FUNimation (in 1999) continuing onward with the series from exactly where they left off (in 1998) with the first two "seasons" (which comprised the first 67-68 episodes of DBZ and edited it all down to 53 episodes).
Episodes 68 through 291 (unfortunately re-numbered to 54-276) have always been completely uncut and available from FUNimation since their first internally-produced "Season 3" VHS and DVD releases in 1999-2000 (this includes their single VHS, single DVD, orange brick, and now Dragon Box versions).
(Yes, there was a little bit of shenanigans going on with dub episodes 65a and 65b, but that's kinda irrelevant to the greater discussion since it's still a part of what would be the first two Dragon Box sets.)
This is all covered extensively here on the site in sections like the "Newbie Guide" and "DVD Guide".

I can't make out what Raditz is saying here, people insist he's saying "We're family" but it sounds like "Wiffaffy."Tanooki Kuribo wrote: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P20yCxbJfDk

As far as I know, "Mr. Savage" was never used in any dub and probably won't be in the new Kai dub.Innagadadavida wrote:It'd be cool if they called him "Mr. Savage." I forget what dub/manga translation did that one, but I think it's a little better than "Hercule"

"Mr. Savage" I think was used before in a action figure packaging description. Yeah, that was way before the Boo arc and before FUNi had decided that they were going to use Hercule. I also remember seeing "Bidel" on an action figure pack.dragondyle wrote: "Mr. Savage" I think was used before in a action figure packaging description. God damn, could Funimation possibly make things more complicated.VegettoEX wrote: It was all a result of FUNimation (in 1999) continuing onward with the series from exactly where they left off (in 1998) with the first two "seasons" (which comprised the first 67-68 episodes of DBZ and edited it all down to 53 episodes).

I doubt they'll call Mr. Satan, Mr. Satan (in the edited). But, I could see Mark Satan as compromise. While someone my get offended still, it's better than "Mr.", someone who doesn't know any better may think he's Satan himself if it's left as "Mr. Satan", hey who knows, maybe Nicktoons will have the balls Cartoon Network didn't and just leave it alone.
Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
Oh my God, that's brilliant. I doubt the FUNimation peeps know this, though.

Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
Mark Satan isn't much of a compromise... I'd rather it just be Mark than have FUNi pretend Satan is his surname again. I'm sick of FUNi either adding names to people who have none, or pretending a given name or title is a surname (eg. Bulma Brief, Hercule Satan, Kami: Guardian of Earth).SSJ4 Furanki wrote:I doubt they'll call Mr. Satan, Mr. Satan (in the edited). But, I could see Mark Satan as compromise. Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
I said compromise since people already assume "Satan" is his real last name since his real last hasn't actually been revealed. But, even if they did go with Mark Satan, it wouldn't bother me. Still better than Hercule.linkdude20002001 wrote:Mark Satan isn't much of a compromise... I'd rather it just be Mark than have FUNi pretend Satan is his surname again. Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
I'm pretty sure the H word is trademarked so they can't just choose to use "Mark".

Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
I don't think it matters that they trademarked Hercule. After all, they used Mr Satan on the DVDs.
But Mark doesn't have a surname; no one does, except the Sons. I'd rather his given name be changed (even to the H-word) as long as he doesn't get a made-up surname, 'cause giving him a made-up surname means not only a name change for Mark, but also for Videl. So, one name change is better than two, in my book.SSJ4 Furanki wrote:I said compromise since people already assume "Satan" is his real last name since his real last hasn't actually been revealed. Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
Good point. If they did just call him just Mark, that'd ironically be more accurate than the Japanese version in a sense.linkdude20002001 wrote:I don't think it matters that they trademarked (the H-word). After all, they used Mr Satan on the DVDs.
