Yup! That’s 10 wishes total over the course of the series. Then again, I suppose if you count Garlic Jr. and Movie 13, then it would be more . I’m not so sure Toei was taking that into account, though.

Once Dende upgrades the Dragon Balls, I think it's safe to just group wishes made at the same time together.

Well, since both of the Cell-era wishes are excluded, it's hard to know for sure. Still, the Vegeta wish and the Boo memory wish are presumably made from the same cycle, even though the wishes are not made at the same time, and both of them get dragons made from them.

For the sake of completeness, there's been at least one more wish made off screen with the Earth dragon balls, by a man who wanted to become king:
Image

However, since that happened centuries ago, it's irrelevant to the topic at hand. I wonder if GT's writers remembered about that dialogue when they wrote Old Kaiohshin's explanation, or if it's just a happy coincidence. Given Dragon Ball's history of forgotten details, I'd be leaning towards the latter, though it's so spot on that it might have actually been deliberate.

(I also apologise for the low quality of that picture, I can't use my computer right now, so I took a screenshot from the Shōnen Jump app with my phone)

What, is there only one Dragon Radar at Capsule Corp? Split the gang up and let everyone have a chance!
Yes, actually. It's established that Bulma only ever has 1 of those at any given time.
In that case, she should've created more.
She creates a Blutz Waves tank, I can buy that she can create more Dragon Radars.

Like someone else has already mentioned before, the stakes of this arc are incredibly high, the Gods themselves say that the negative energy will eventually spread to the point of destroying the afterlife as well, and yet the characters don't seem to care until the very last moment.
I agree, but we're talking about Dragon Ball GT here, the series where creativity & character actions that actually make sense go to die. If we're being honest, they should've done 7 pairs of 2 with the main cast & had 1-2 episodes dedicated to all of them tracking down an individual Dragon Ball. Say...
Goku & Pan.
Goten & Trunks.
Gohan & Uub.
Vegeta & Piccolo.
Tien & either Chiaotzu or Yamcha.
And whoever for the last 2 groups.

Then you have them all meet up, then Omega Shenron is born from Syn (I don't know their Japanese names & don't care because they're not worth the brain power) absorbing the first 6 Dragon Balls. Then you have the entire group fight him rather than just mainly Goku & you have them make decisions that make sense. There, simple.

I don't know there. Dende tells Goku to tell Shenron to go away so the Dragon Ball have significantly less time to recharge. Thus, I don't know if you can count that one amongst the ones made later. That would seem to me to be a separation of them.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

So here we are, the final arc of GT! The once-benevolent Dragon Balls are the enemies, creating an arc that is both a reflection on the franchise as a whole but is also largely a boss rush mode. How does that go? Let's dive in! Thanks so much for watching.
Honestly, I've sort of been curious as to your thoughts regarding the ending to GT. I remember you mentioning briefly in the Majin Buu arc's final video (regarding the OG manga) how its ending feels like more of a Dragon Ball ending than anything any other arc in the franchise (the majority of which really seems to lean into melancholic subject matter).

BTW, I won't lie... I was sort of hoping you would poke some fun at the fact the final episode of the Super #17 arc is legit the final time we would ever see Vegeta and Bulma's daughter, Bra.

No, seriously. Poor girl doesn't even show up as a spectator during the final battle with Syn/Omega Shenron ((Super) Yi Xing Long), nor is she even mentioned when the gang considers evacuating Earth when it seems like Omega's won.

I mean, I guess they would have picked her up on the way?? Still hilarious to think about the idea of GT pulling a Meg Griffin-styled joke on poor Bra.

But that's precisely why I would think they'd go together. You have three wishes (although technically two). They only use one. They use the other later. They're part of the same wish cycle. If I have a can of Coke and drink half now and save the other half until later, it's still one can of Coke.

True, but since we're talking about "recharging", I'm more inclined to see it in the other way around, like Scsigs does. What if they keep on asking Shenron to go away after only one wish? They could pull an infinite "4 months - 1 wish - 4 months - 1 wish" sequence, and it would be hard to label it as a single gigantic cycle, think Theseus's ship.

Instead of a can of Coke, I think the fuel tank of your car is a better metaphor. It's empty, and you fill it up because you want to go somewhere, but after a few kilometres you find out that a bridge collapsed, and you have to go back home. A few days later you learn that the bridge has been repaired, you fill up the tank once again, with significantly less fuel since there's some left, and you start a second, separate trip.

The Damaged Dragon - Dragon Ball Dissection: The Evil Dragon Arc Part 2

Dragon Ball Dissection covers 2 Evil Dragons, a blobby boy and a windy girl. One raises existential questions. The other was made from panties. Also, I have a new obsession: the naming plot hole of the 2 Star Ball. Check it out now!

I'm surprised you didn't comment on the implication of the random boy of the week being set up as a love interest for Pan.
I'm also surprised you liked the 2nd Dragon fight, no amount of coffee made me sit through that awake.
I'm also also surprised you didn't comment on Pan taking several new levels of brattiness that she logically should've overcome in space that episode when she starts whining that she doesn't want to drink filthy river water, she wants SOME DAMN JUICE!!!!!

God, I hate the Ryuu Shen Long epiosde so much. I opine about it all the time, but the weird transphobic tropes really make this episode torture to sit through.

I think why villagers acting like as if it's been at least several weeks since Princess arrived, could be easily explained by Ryuu Shen Long and/or her negative energy affecting how time flows in that area :)

I like the Oceanic Shenron episode. Anytime DB gives a cute female, that is a plus in my book. (I prefer her over the wonder twins in Super) Wish it wasn't a ugly male Dragon in disguise but I just ignore that part. A fun fight mixed with a fun gag.

Plus if you watch the Remastered ENG dub the village people are all Irish so that is a extra bit of fun for me. Why Goku didn't attempt SS4 during the fight is mystery though.

It's interesting because I've seen the opinions run the gamut there, including seeing other trans women claim her as representation. Hell, I've likewise gotten flack in my comments from now-blocked transphobes complaining about me or the episode promoting it. Sigh. I hate people who hate people.

Something, something monoliths, I guess. I can't stomach the episode. When her supposed 'true form' of being an ugly, masculine man is reveal it feels very much like being stripped naked in the streets to me. This is a production staff re-enforcing negative stereotypes about people who divulge from the genders that they are assigned arbitrarily at birth, and then for Pan to be instrumental in defeating her just feels like an extra knife in the knife.

I wouldn't have minded if this dragon's actual appearance was just the princess design; it's actually the only one of the seven I even really like. You mention that maybe the audience would ask why she doesn't look much like a dragon. But honestly, I find myself asking that about the other six as well. At least this one's got a good design.

Question, wouldn't the dragons technically be genderless? Like, I know they're usually referred to by gendered pronouns & shit, as well as most have masculine appearances, but since they're technically dragons who can switch between them, wouldn't that either make them without gender, or gender fluid?

Well, that is why I refer to Liang in the video as feminine-coded. We don't really know enough about any of the dragons to assume they possess sex or gender in ways we do. We can only really speak to how the story uses them. And in that regard, Liang is at least clearly coded as a woman, if not explicitly one.

You definitely got me thinking about whether or not Oceanus (and the other dragons, for that matter) is gender-fluid. Like, if I'm being totally honest? I always looked at Oceanus' 'true form' as STILL a woman/female-coded, but GT went too hard on the bit. Seeing your video, maybe Oceanus is meant to be trans?

Not going to pretend that I'm an expert on changing gender or anything, so...
