It doesn't apply like that "anymore". The "one year limit" is only to a large group. That's why Sorbet was able to revive Freeza and Toriyama left the idea of bringing Bardock back possible as well.

What's with the quotes? It never applied like that. They had no promise that the Namekian Elder would be revived with the wish, and yet they still asked Tenshinhan, Yamcha and Chaozu to stay dead for another year. If the limit was always meant to be in effect prior to recent material, then they'd have been condemming them.

If she is 41 in BoG, it means that she was 12 years old in the Search for the DBs arc. Which she wasn't.

She could have been lying, but it doesn't seem to be the writers' intention in the movie. Same with Bulma's age.

But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

So can it just be a case that the writers simply did their math badly? Because that seems to be the case.

Yeah the Bulma Mai thing is kinda messed up. Though I hope Mai is joking about relationship with Trunks (which she probably is), or I'm gonna puke.

This is what Freeza says in regards to seeing Bulma:
Freeza: “Oh, I remember you. We met very briefly on Planet Namek, didn’t we? Where’s your friend Son Goku?”
Credit to Herms for the translation.
Huh. Seems so tiny and yet everyone blows up over it.

Then again, as I said... to be expected on this thread anymore. HATE to think what the Super thread looks like right now...
Heh, it kinda reminds me of #17's appearance at the end of the Buu Arc and the inconsistencies that created.

Oh, and the 'Super' thread is fine...although, we don't really have anything proper to discuss yet. :P

Bluma and Mai's ages pretty much match the era the film was originally set (Kuririn and 18's wedding). I feel like someone just forgot to adjust their ages after Toriyama came on board.

Anyone get the feeling Whis is like the new King Kai? hell King Kai even got benched in the movie lol. Poor Kai, seems like Whis is gonna be the go to guy now. Huh interestingly enough, Goku first appearance in BoG is training with King Kai and now in RF his first appearance is training with Whis. Yup, Whis is the new King Kai!

That could be for good reason, as Joji Yanami apparently isn't doing so well these days. :(

Whis is better than King Kai, in my opinion, in every aspect. Design, abilities, personality, hell, even the English VA for Whis is superior to that of King Kai's. You make a great point regardless though.

Well just look at Goku at 16 and Gohan at 11. If Gohan can look like this (Gohan at 11):

and be meant to be younger than this (Goku at 16):

I don't really see why she couldn't be 12. As you can see, Dragon Ball isn't really a stranger to continuity errors.

You should have used someone else like Chi Chi or Kuririn, because Goku has a valid reason for being a child at that age after the Saiyan origin retcon.

So if Gohan lost SSJ 2 and Mystic by not training.

What about Goten and Trunks.

Why did they stop training anyway? They did basis warm ups as kids. Even fighting each other.

Bulma's age was pretty clearly intended to be a lie, tbh.

Saiyan physiology says Saiyans stay in their fighting prime longer, that doesn't necessarily mean stay a child longer.

Just between the latest movies Shenron's abilities have been nerfed and slightly buffed.
You can ask Shenlong to go away if you don't wan't any more wishes
Don't they retain their usefulness for a set amount of time before needing to turn to stone and recharge as well?

Jaco tells us they stay child size until puberty to help them stay off the radar of aliens they invade the planets of. Then they spurt into an adult and remain in their prime until old age sets in and they begin to rapidly deteriorate.

This is why it's okay for hybrids like Goten or Trunks to stay midgets or grow normally like Gohan depending on the genes they inherit.

This is the best theory I've read about this issue.
