Am I honestly the only one who couldn't care less if it fits 'perfectly' into 'canon' or not, and just want it to be a good movie? I'd rather have something good that's non-canon then something crappy that fits so perfectly you can't say it didn't happen...

Re Gyt Kaliba: I also don't care about whether or not this movie is "canon" (nor do I care about Gohan's ssj hair on the poster). I just want the movie to be fun and entertaining and so far it looks like it will be. I'm also grateful to whoever leaked the earlier version of the poster as learning that miniaturized Pilaf Gang is there further supports the "violating common sense" phrasing on the latest scan.

Re Toonami97: I hope so; I don't want it to be just two against the group, it feels too lopsided that way. Unless their magic really is that powerful....I just want Goku and friends to have to earn their happy ending is all; a challenging fight/adventure is more interesting to me.

I figured there was only a couple ways it could go from here; supernatural/magical enemies are one of the few choices left that can stand up to everyone with how strong they are now. My guesses were it would either be this, more outer-space adventures (like the 2008 special, only with stronger bad guys), or a time-traveler from either another timeline, the distant future, or distant past.

At first I was disappointed we weren't going into outer space again, but I've since changed my mind; I'm glad it's magical bad guys because I think it'll supply more creativity to the fights.

Yes, I would say this is supposed to be cannon, or that's how they want it to be at least, insisting that it is "an official story" - "not a side story" - "that takes place between manga chapters [blabla] and [blabla]".

But whether it will end up being possibly cannon to fans will most likely depend on if there are any incoherence or if every single element is in phase with the information from the manga or anime, without the slightest doubt.
Then, there is "manga cannon" and "anime cannon", and in the end, every fan has their own vision of what should be cannon or not anyway.

But I think the presence or lack of incohenrence will play a major role in fans accepting it as cannon to anything or not cannon at all, regardless of what Toei says.
As far as Toei's concerned, they clearly want it to be considered cannon even manga-wise, basically trying to tell us "whatever version is the true version for you - even if it's the manga - this story happened in it". Now it's all up to make us feel that it could be true and not contradict most fans' beliefs.

I grew up with teachers trying to murder me if I wrote that during war time, people could use a "canon" (which is the actual way to write it for all definitions in French).
They spent their time saying "it's 'cannon' with the letter "n" twice, always, you hear me, ALWAYS twice!"
They forgot to tell me it is the right way to spell it when you talk about "is something canon or not"!

A few examples we had was:
- Galactic tyrant.
- Artificial beings (through mecanic or genetic).
- Magic creation.
- Demon wanting to be God.
- Big brain in a machine.
- Evil doppleganger of Goku.
- Evil doppleganger of Piccolo.
- Saiyan psychopath.
- Statue made real.
- Thousands of evil souls in one creature.
etc...

But Gods, no, it's probably the strongest kind of beings one can imagine, and our heroes have never fought them yet, so... why not?

True. The martial-arts fighting in Z Movie 1 was amazing, and I do tend to prefer hand-to-hand combat. I guess I should phrase that instead more as "I hope to see interesting and entertaining things that I haven't seen before in prior DB battles because I'm very curious as to how Goku and friends deal with someone who can 'violate common sense'.".

I'm excited for the movie; I want to see some crazy fun stuff happen.

I hope all the sections left to be revealed have their own screenshots from the movie.

Also, this makes me even curiouser about movie-tie-in-Vegeta-toy with his Buu arc outfit, since screenshot-Vegeta is definitely wearing his armor.

I think Goten's wearing a different outfit there too, looks like a jacket and shorts.

Yeah, Shenlong's face is a little wide, but I attribute that to Yamamaro's art style.

Surprised to see Chi-Chi. I didn't think she'd get to be in the movie at all.

Ah, but where'd the English version of the site go? Not that I used it much, since the Japanese one always updated first, but still odd to see it gone. Oh well, we've got Julian/Kei/Herms/etc, so no worries.
