No, you came into this thread from the start and starting calling everyone whiners and being downright rude. You added nothing to the conversation other than sarcastic remarks and you were rightfully warned not to do it again.

Nobody says you have to have the same opinion as everyone else. That's pretty much the point of a forum; to debate and to discuss. What you were doing was not anything close to that.

I understand that there's people who'd much prefer a 4x3 AR Blu-ray release over a 16x9 AR Blu-ray but the fact of the matter is that there's an audience for this, and if FUNimation's going to get DBZ back on TV this is definitely the way to go so it fills up the whole screen without stretching nor looking blurred/crappy.

FUNimation should've also released this on DVD so that the Orange Bricks could be discontinued with the addition of a better looking 16x9 AR version.

I've got this on pre-order but if it pops up on Amazon.co.uk by a third party seller for a bit cheaper then I'll go with that instead.

Not only that. I already have all the 4:3 Dragonboxes and single DVDs .. So I don't mind seeing this 16:9 cropped version on my plasma, which already looks better with the colors and definition in my opinion.

If your posts are just going to be - as I have already said and warned about before - whining about whining, then you have absolutely added nothing.

Look, it all comes down to this: don't come in here and be a jerk to other people. Don't like their opinions? Great. Debate them. Explain why you think they're wrong. Explain where you're coming from. That's what this is all about, and you agreed to it twice before you even had a chance to register.

If you don't like any of that, then I stand by my remark that you probably should start looking for another community to be a part of.

Except that from what I've come to understand, the movies were INTENDED for widescreen as they were originally framed for 16:9 but cropped to 4:3.

Actually the widescreen movies were cropped to 16:9 from the 4:3 ratio, but from what I heard the animators were aware of this and made sure nothing important (for the most part) was cut off, which is why watching the movies in either AR is fine.

The films were originally made in 4x3 AR but then for the cinemas they cropped them so the "intended for theatrical" is where it comes in.

I think that's because Kai is a refreshed show which was selectively cropped by the company that produced the original show. Also, they bothered to add extra image to the shots that cannot be properly cropped. It's very different than something automatically center-cropped by a foreign distributor which has nothing to do with the original production. Though I personally don't like it, the cropping in Kai can be easily justified.

Yeah, it's a shame that Dragon Ball Kai wasn't sold to broadcasters around the globe including two major US networks because it was 4:3. Oh wait, that did happen!

Kai isn't purporting itself as being the original show.

Well I for one do hope that Toonami does at least end up showing DBZ using the footage from these Bluray sets. It'd be nice to get the series back on air. I'm doubtful that it'll happen, but heck, stranger things have happened.
