^ Agreed. I've been disrespected by people on here before just because I voted for and like this current blu ray releas, As well as the administrator telling me I don't belong on the forum but I'm a fan of DBZ and I don't agree with them.

No, you came into this thread from the start and starting calling everyone whiners and being downright rude. You added nothing to the conversation other than sarcastic remarks and you were rightfully warned not to do it again.over9000 wrote:^ Agreed. Nobody says you have to have the same opinion as everyone else. That's pretty much the point of a forum; to debate and to discuss. What you were doing was not anything close to that.

I understand that there's people who'd much prefer a 4x3 AR Blu-ray release over a 16x9 AR Blu-ray but the fact of the matter is that there's an audience for this, and if FUNimation's going to get DBZ back on TV this is definitely the way to go so it fills up the whole screen without stretching nor looking blurred/crappy.
FUNimation should've also released this on DVD so that the Orange Bricks could be discontinued with the addition of a better looking 16x9 AR version.
I've got this on pre-order but if it pops up on Amazon.co.uk by a third party seller for a bit cheaper then I'll go with that instead.
4x3 AR releases that I own:
- Dragon Box Z (US)
- DBGT Singles' Boxset
- DBK Parts 1-4 BD
Still waiting for Dragon Box: Dragon Ball and Dragon Box: The Movies oh hold on a sec, they're going to hate on the DB:TM because it's in widescreen and not the originally intended 4x3 AR. Better hunt down those FUNimation DVDs then.

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Seasons" Coming To Blu-ray (Updated 12/20
Not only that. I already have all the 4:3 Dragonboxes and single DVDs .. So I don't mind seeing this 16:9 cropped version on my plasma, which already looks better with the colors and definition in my opinion.

Anyway, over9000, you've been "disrespected" (though I don't think so) purely because you're the very one who started disrespecting other people. Here's your first few posts on this forum:

I don't want to mini-mod, but let me say; Please refrain from posting replies here unless you have something to say other than insulting the others, which definitely is not welcome here.over9000 wrote:Nope just don't care about a bunch of pathetic, negative ,whiney people. over9000, you're completely out of line and a strike is being lodged against your account.
If your posts are just going to be - as I have already said and warned about before - whining about whining, then you have absolutely added nothing.
Look, it all comes down to this: don't come in here and be a jerk to other people. Don't like their opinions? Great. Debate them. Explain why you think they're wrong. Explain where you're coming from. That's what this is all about, and you agreed to it twice before you even had a chance to register.
If you don't like any of that, then I stand by my remark that you probably should start looking for another community to be a part of.
This, of course, goes for every member here.

Not sure if you're either trolling or uneducated, but I'm not even going to bother and explain to you why that's different. Except that from what I've come to understand, the movies were INTENDED for widescreen as they were originally framed for 16:9 but cropped to 4:3.dbboxkaifan wrote:Still waiting for Dragon Box: Dragon Ball and Dragon Box: The Movies oh hold on a sec, they're going to hate on the DB:TM because it's in widescreen and not the originally intended 4x3 AR. Actually the widescreen movies were cropped to 16:9 from the 4:3 ratio, but from what I heard the animators were aware of this and made sure nothing important (for the most part) was cut off, which is why watching the movies in either AR is fine.Gonstead wrote:Except that from what I've come to understand, the movies were INTENDED for widescreen as they were originally framed for 16:9 but cropped to 4:3.

The films were originally made in 4x3 AR but then for the cinemas they cropped them so the "intended for theatrical" is where it comes in.
And so is watching DBZ in 16x9 AR, plus Kai.Black_Anime_Fan wrote:Actually the widescreen movies were cropped to 16:9 from the 4:3 ratio, but from what I heard the animators were aware of this and made sure nothing important (for the most part) was cut off, which is why watching the movies in either AR is fine.

My opinion on the aspect ratio is this:
DB/Z/GT Episodes & TV Specials - 4:3
DBKai & DB/Z Movies - 16:9
DB/Z/GT Episodes & TV Specials - 4:3
DBKai & DB/Z Movies - 16:9
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Kai is a failed rushed cash-cow of Dragon Ball Z but somehow that's acceptable in 16x9 AR but the actual DBZ isn't? What?DBZGTKOSDH wrote:My opinion on the aspect ratio is this:

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Seasons" Coming To Blu-ray (Updated 12/20
I think that's because Kai is a refreshed show which was selectively cropped by the company that produced the original show. Also, they bothered to add extra image to the shots that cannot be properly cropped. It's very different than something automatically center-cropped by a foreign distributor which has nothing to do with the original production. Though I personally don't like it, the cropping in Kai can be easily justified.dbboxkaifan wrote:Kai is a failed rushed cash-cow of Dragon Ball Z but somehow that's acceptable in 16x9 AR but the actual DBZ isn't? Yeah, it's a shame that Dragon Ball Kai wasn't sold to broadcasters around the globe including two major US networks because it was 4:3. Re: Dragon Ball Z "Seasons" Coming To Blu-ray (Updated 12/20
Well I for one do hope that Toonami does at least end up showing DBZ using the footage from these Bluray sets. It'd be nice to get the series back on air. I'm doubtful that it'll happen, but heck, stranger things have happened.

DBZ had been airing for at least around ten years.

"Over saturation is easy. Just drag the slider to the right and there you are: instant interest. And certainly, the majority of the public likes saturated color images. In fact, if you want to quickly create a popular image, simply over saturate the colors and increase the contrast. While you may not achieve a sophisticated image, you will achieve an image that will please a less demanding audience." - Alain Briot
