He did Captain Ginyu, right? As well as the
Dragon Ball narrator? That's kind of a shame. Those were both good voices.
I never had a problem with Brice's Ginyu, but the rest could benefit from some recasting. Especially Jheese, as gratuitous accents don't really have a place, especially on alien characters. As for Ginyu himself, I wonder if they'll give him a slightly more comical voice, like the Japanese version. He was always played a bit straighter in Funimation's dub.

Screw you, Aussie Jeice was awesome! Especially his scream when Goku punched him in the nose.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

You know, the dub is not as accurate as I thought it would be. And why the hell does it say "Next time on Dragon Ball Z Kai" and "Last time on Dragon Ball Z Kai" in the subtitles, when they say "Dragon Ball Kai" in Japanese? That makes no sense.

Did you think it was going to be word for word with the Japanese subtitles on the screen?

Hmm, I never noticed. That is really odd.

While I disagree on his Aussie accent (which makes no sense; pick one dialect for all characters please), I completely agree on that scream. Probably the greatest moment in the season three dub.
I was actually watching that scene in Japanese the other day, expecting Jheese's over-the-top scream, and was disappointed when he only let out a little gasp.

It seems like you guys are referring to the "Ultimate Uncut" re-dub of that scene. The old "Season Three" version was
terrible (as usual

)!

I liked Jheese's accent...and I didn't have a problem with Reacoom, either...

No, actually it was original season three. I always liked that bit too, but they did redub it for the season sets onward, and when I checked it on the DBoxes, it was much less funny.

So, let's ignore the fact that Jheese ISN'T EVEN FROM EARTH and that Reacoom isn't actually braindead?

Not necessarily, but they could at least say exactly the same thing in different words. I mean don't get me wrong, it's pretty good, but for example, episode 12 (I believe) where even in the title it says the Saiyans get there early. Um no they don't. They get there on time.
Though I do like one aspect of it. I like how... more cartoony the dialog is. I don't know how to explain it and not everyone might see it as a positive, but especially the interaction between King Kai and Goku seems cartoonish, but in a good way to me at least. It's more light-hearted than the original dub. Or like that part where Gohan says that Krillin trains to make up for him being short (I don't think that's what he says in the original by the way), and Krillin's like, "Goku told you what now?" Like funny one-liners that you could actually see people saying, that's what I like about the dub.

Um... no. They arrive a month early. You're correct in saying there's no episode title that states that, but they do, in fact, arrive earlier than the earthlings expected.

It's the latter that really bugs me. The dialogue can be 100% accurate BUUUUT IF YOOOU HAUUV CHRIS SABET DELIVEW ALL DA LINEZ LIKE DIS HUH HUH HUH it's going to sound fucking stupid. To me it's the 2nd worst voice in the dub and if we can get it replaced with something that doesn't make Recoome sound like Lenny I'd be all too happy.
Recoome fights like a teenager playing a friendly game of baseball. He's all smiles and is constantly in a happy mood. Even when you bash all the teeth out of his head he gives you a verbal thumbs up and laughs it off. That's supposed to be his gimmick not that he's a literal retard. The thing is even in the Saban dub and early season 3 stuff he didn't sound so stupid. I think it was around Budokai 1 Chris Sabat turned up that whole stereotypical special ed voice and it got progressively worse and worse with each game.
Jheese just suffers from 4kid's "give a funny accent to everyone" syndrome which I can ignore easily enough. It's stupid but at least I can understand him clearly and he can deliver accurate dialogue without making me cringe.

The accent thing has never bothered me, simply because EVERYBODY IN THE WORLD WHO SPEAKS HAS AN ACCENT! Just like the "everybody speaks our language" thing, it's just something you have to have to be able to accept that earth dialects will inevitably be spoken by aliens because their lines are being spoken by earthling voice actors. Jheese having an Australian accent is no stranger than Goku or Piccolo or anyone else having American accents, or Goku, Chichi, and Yajirobe speaking in regional dialects in the original version.

The problem is adding unique accents to characters that should have the same accent as the majority of the characters.

I'm not saying it's great or that it doesn't have the potential to be bad, but to me, it's pretty easy to overlook. Not that I watch much of the dub anyway, but I am pretty critical of it, but the occasional random dialect doesn't bother me in principle... as long as it's done competently. Now on that level, FUNimation hasn't always stepped up to the plate.

To be honest, even as a Dub fan, I was hoping Reacoom would be recast. Because making him sound like a retard is IMO causing an inaccuracy even if the dialogue is correct.
But I'm sad that the rest of the Ginyu Force will be re-cast. To me that's just how the characters sound and it's unfortunate that I'll have to suffer through more re-casts. Especially since some of them I've been hating. Cason's Popo just isn't doing it for me. The new Oolong is annoying as all hell. I can live without Sabat doing Jheese. And I welcome him not being Reacoom. But I've always liked his Butta and Townsley's Ghurd. And Brice's Captain Ginyu is absolutely godly.
But have we actually gotten CONFIRMATION that Brice Armstrong retired? Or is this just speculation due to the fact that he's not Marcoh in Brotherhood? Because I mean he was just recently the Captain in Raging Blast.

I agree with that line of thought. I keep hearing that he's retired, but I've seen nothing (absolutely nothing) saying that he is outside of random posters.
Brice Armstrong is an awesome Ginyu, and I would hate to see that change. Reacum has to change, badly. Not even accurate dialog can help that voice, unless he royally tweaks the crap out of it to the point of being almost unrecognizable. The others, I have various levels of interest in.
I just wish the next DVD wasn't so far off, I want to enjoy more of Kai's dub.

This. I've actually found it more baffling that everyone in the universe speaks both their own native language
and English (or whatever language the show is being dubbed in).

Yeah I realized that the Saiyans arrived early. But I just remembered the part that King Kai miscalculated Goku's arrival time back on Earth.
As for the accents, I'm not personally bothered because it gives uniqueness to the character. Maybe in Japanese, they have their own unique qualities to their voice, but those who do not speak Japanese are unable to pick it up? I don't know, but if they didn't have accents, etc., many people would sound the same.

Yes.
I'd be more concerned with how they can speak English. There are a lot more things that make a lot less sense in the Dragon Ball universe.
