That has its own thread, go check there. They've been discussing it over there.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

Where? I can't find anything about it. All I see is the Ocean dub one, the one that never released
There was another one, that got shown before the Funimation dub

You're probably looking in the wrong sections. The Toonami Asia dub is for Super, not Kai.

Well, the first step to solving a problem is admitting there IS a problem.

I know a whole lotta people like Sumitomo's music for the Vegeta's sacrifice in Kai, but I honestly am not a fun of how triumphant and happy it sounds. I think it needs that really ghostly emotional feeling. Like the original, if someone's gonna do it over, I think it needs to feel like something big and bad is gonna happen. I think this kinda nails what I'm talking about. Honestly, that along the original might be my definitive version if that scene.

I still haven't had time to go through Part 2, currently at where Buu eats Dabura. But the final part is out next week! Kind of crazy how it snuck up like that but cool nonetheless and I get to savour these episodes!

These are coming so fast I don't even know how to make time for them! I'm actually kind of glad we won't be getting monthly releases of Super, because I'm going to need a break.

Set aside a weekend, or a few days, of free time & just binge the entire thing after the last one comes out. That's how I love to binge shows.

Yup! Definitely glad in hindsight FUNi aren't releasing Super monthly, but with TFC I totally forgot with Part 1 like half the episodes already aired so only watched the second half of the set when it came out.

Time is definitely a precious resource, I had so much free time for the three years I was at University now I regret not making the most of it.

I remember watching those all day marathons on CN back in the day, miss those days man.

Man, this dub is so good. But the music, and its placement, is so, so bad. :(
Dragon Ball Arc Rankings: 1. Piccolo Daimaō 2. Saiyan 3. 22nd Budōkai 4. 23rd Budōkai 5. Hunt For the Dragon Balls 6. Zamasu 7. Moro 8. Tournament of Power 9. 21st Budōkai 10. Broly 11. It flows precisely and fluidly from where things left off in the aftermath of the 23rd Budokai and mostly hits the ground running from there without really stopping to look back. You're plopping someone into the middle of a book starting at chapter 195 out of 519 for absolutely no good goddamn reason, with very minimal opportunity to look back at much needed context and character/story growth.

Just as most everyone has been saying here, it's a shame that such a great dub is used on such an inferior version of the series.

By the way, welcome to the forums!

Yes, it really is unfortunate Toei had to botch TFC so badly. And thank you, glad to be here! Been lurking for ages, and I figured it was time to actually make an account. :)

So, now that we actually got it, what are everyone's thoughts here about the cut we got? Would you have preferred that we had gotten the Japanese cut instead? Are there things there you feel are better than TFC?

The music placement in the first few episodes was better in the Japanese, and Buu's eyes being red from the get go were nice, but overall I think the international cut is better. It has more breathing room, the footage isn't overtly sharpened, and it keeps the after Buu fight party episode, which despite being filler, is one of my favorite episodes.

Yeah for real. I know this us heresy around here but I think the new dub with the Faulconer score with appropriate silence would have worked so much better than this.

I'd rather have more Kai than not enough so I'm happy we got the originally produced 69 episode version. NEP keeps with a rendition of the ending music, buu eye edits better IMO, there's not a billion endings, better pacing, no oversight with the eyecatch music, it's just a much less sloppy release compared with the edited Japanese cut.

Personally I like most of Sumitomo's music. Some of the tracks sound a bit too Faulconer-esque for my taste. I don't remember which thread it was where some users speculated that Sumitomo's tracks were intentionally sounding Faulconer-esque to appeal to the western fanbase, but I can actually kind of agree with that point. Which is unfortunate because the last thing Dragon Ball's music should be doing is trying to emulate replacement scores. Sumitomo's more jazzy and orchestral-sounding tracks on the other hand are just wonderful. I do think the music placement is awful sometimes but I can't hold that against Sumitomo himself. When the tracks are placed well, they really work.
