I know. If they take Aussie Jeece away from me, I'll snooker Chris Sabat personally.

Aussie Jeice had the best screams; I loved the final one right before Vegeta blasted him to nothing.

If he is voiced by the same person, why would they change the accents if only the dialogue was what had changed?

You know, this raises another question. If he's trimming down his excessive roles. Will he still be Zarbon? I personally think his Zarbon voice is fitting no matter which version of the series you enjoy.

Also, I wonder if Chris Forbis will still be Dodoria. I know Mike McFarland had to play him in Raging Blast. It would be kind of ironic if we had recasts of Dodoria, Zarbon, & the entire Ginyu Force just like the Original did. I hope that won't be the case.

I guess we should know in a little over a month. Since I'm assuming the Kai Dub broadcast won't just keep re-looping the same 13 Episodes over and over.

I hope Sabat will still be Zarbon as well as that was one of his better roles. I'm glad the Ginyu Force is getting a major recast as Sabat playing 3 members was overkill. I didn't mind Aussie Jeice or Burter, but his mentally retarded Recoome was horrible.

I sort of doubt that Sabat will keep Zarbon, but who knows. Personally, I don't think he was BAD, but... give it to someone else. Someone more appropriate for that sort of role who also isn't still half a dozen other characters.

What I find funny is how the dialects shifted when FUNi started doing the voices in-house.

The original English Zarbon (who was that? Paul Dobson?) was clearly Australian. Sabat's, if I'm not mistaken, was British.

Conversely, Scott McNeil's Jheese was British (Scouse), but Sabat changed him to Australian!

Sabat's Zarbon isn't British. It's basically just a deeper version of his voice of for Corona, Mr. Satan's pupil from the Cell Games filler.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Sabat start out using a British accent for Zarbon really early on? At least I remember him using a British accent in the flash back scene where Raditz, Vegeta and Nappa talk to Freeza Dodoria and Zarbon. Although as soon as Budokai 1 rolled around he wasn't using it anymore.

If anything, Sabat's Zarbon has a bit of Harvard lock jaw going on.

Yeah, I'm thinking of that flashback that was interspersed with the Bardock special footage. The one where King Vegeta challenged Freeza. Although I might be inclined to agree with Cipher that it was more of snooty New Englander dialect. But like I said, it's been a while since I heard it at all, and Blue might be right that it's not the same now as the voice I was comparing it to. I still get the lols because apparently Sabat or someone else in FUNimation had a hard time distinguishing British from Australian, particularly for Jheese.

I don't think Forbis is doing Dodoria from here on out, so I'm assuming Mike will take over. Brice retiring was something I had heard from Kyle a long time ago, that one's not an assumption. Also Paul Dobson's Zarbon was definitely British, not Australian. Chris was copying that for a little while but it slowly kinda turned into a Stewie Griffon thing.

Yep, his voice is different from his voice from that episode 104 flashback. He actually redubbed an early flashback from episode 76 or 77 in his current Zarbon voice.

To be fair, apparently most of the members here can't differentiate between British and New English. :?

Just got done listening to it. That's definitely intended to be Australian. It's just not over the top "Aussie Jheese" stereotype shrimp on the barbie Australian.

How is Sabat's effeminate voice not suited for Zarbon?

Sabat's voice wasn't effeminate and personally, I don't see a reason for Zarbon to sound like some kind of hoity toity snob.

At the very least, he should come across as somewhat high-class and narcissistic. This is the guy who didn't make sure Vegeta was dead because he didn't want to get his clothes wet, and who let himself get beat up for a bit because he doesn't like how his transformation looks.

And I think Paul Dobson's version was perfect. The voice, anyway. I could give or take the accent.

We must be hearing different voices, because Sabat's Zarbon voice was very effeminate for him.

The voice isn't effeminate. It's snobbish, it's regal, but it's not effeminate. Effeminate is feminine, girlish, which Sabat's voice for Zarbon isn't.
