The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
I agree with Kaboom except my gaps are a little bigger so they definitely wouldn't win.

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
Vegeta would put Piccolo down with a single strike, so you may as well ask Vegeta vs Trunks. Trunks might give some difficulty, but Vegeta would still win handily.

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
Well Piccolo and Goku definitely show skill in both there fights. Piccolo D and Jr nearly beat goku due to cunning tricks and what not. I'll change my stance however. There is more skill involved in DB rather than in Z.Saiga wrote:It wasn't just Dragon Ball Z that was all about power. Dragon Ball was as well, in fact right from the beginning Roshi didn't train Kurilin and Goku in skill, he just made them monstrously powerful so they could roflstomp the other martial artists, skill or no skill.
Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
Vegeta could put a fight with No.17 and 18, while they K.O. Trunks and Piccolo in two hits, so I give this to Vegeta.
Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
I'd say that the difference between Trunks and Piccolo against Vegeta is pretty much the same as the difference between #19 and #20 against, say, Trunks (thinking about Piccolo's treatment of #20, and Trunks being much stronger than Piccolo). So Vegeta would definitely one hit Piccolo and Trunks.

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
...#18 was just playing around with Vegeta the whole time he was supposedly "putting up a fight" with her. While he was most likely stronger than either Piccolo or Trunks at that point, he was still just about as hopelessly outclassed by the Androids as they were; the best he could do was damage her clothes a little. Once she actually got serious, arms got broken.Vegeta could put a fight with No.17 and 18, while they K.O. Trunks and Piccolo in two hits, so I give this to Vegeta.
On the other hand, #17 was trying to take everyone else out of the fight right away when he got involved, since he had told them previously not to interfere or he'd kick their asses. So you can't really compare #17's one-hit-knockouts against Trunks, Piccolo, and Tenshinhan to #18's fight with Vegeta... they're two completely different things.
I do think Vegeta is significantly stronger than either Trunks or Piccolo (being more along the lines of where a healthy Goku would be at this point), but maybe not by so much that they couldn't handle him together. It's hard to say which way it would go, though.

SSJ2 Kid Gohan vs Perfect Cell(Post Zenkai)
The difference is Gohan does not break his arm and they do not go into a beam struggle to end the whole thing right away. They do a real fight to the death.

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
Gohan all the way. He still managed to hold off Cell's Kamehameha with his own despite his wounds in the first place.Mystic Gohan wrote:SSJ2 Kid Gohan vs Perfect Cell(Post Zenkai)

Chi is a partly mental thing, too, and Gohan's attitude about the whole thing probably played into him not being to outright overcome Cell right off. So without all that impeding him, Gohan would still have a pretty easy time destroying Cell.
Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
I consider them pretty much dead-even in power, since Gohan's calmed down somewhat by this point and thus wouldn't be getting much extra power from anger, if any at all. That said, without his bloodlust, I'd think Gohan is more likely to lose than Cell.Mystic Gohan wrote:SSJ2 Kid Gohan vs Perfect Cell(Post Zenkai)

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
Idk about that though Kaboom. Gohan seemed pretty damn confident he could beat Cell even after he came back. Gohan is never confident or cocky unless he has an advantage. Like against Perfect Cell(pre Zenkai) or Super Buu.
Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
And then about a minute later, once he's been injured, he admits he underestimated Cell.Mystic Gohan wrote:IDK about that though, Kaboom. Gohan seemed pretty damn confident he could beat Cell even after he came back.

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
I'd say Gohan gets this easily. The broken arm was pretty much the only chance Cell had and Gohan only loses his confidence the moment ge got injured.
It would seem that such an injury is enough to turn the tables for a warrior even if he/she is a good deal above the opponent in strength. See the first fight between Piccolo and Imperfect Cell. Once Piccolo supposedly lost his arm, both warriors seemed to agree that it was over for him, despite the fact that he was obviously stronger than Cell at that point.

I got the opposite impression, that now he was even more set on killing Cell. He just lost his father because of Cell, which would make me think he was out for revenge. He even said he was happy for the chance to get to kill Cell himself. So I'd say the bloodlust is still there, possibly even more so.Gohan's calmed down somewhat by this point and thus wouldn't be getting much extra power from anger, if any at all.
Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
Cell isn't stupid enough to teleport back to Earth in order to fight Gohan if he's not strong enough.
Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
Of course he is. He was stupid enough to think going full power would make a difference, or that bulking up would work, or to overlook Goku's IT when he decided to self destruct, and to tell them not to attack him because he'll self destruct sooner.hleV wrote:Cell isn't stupid enough to teleport back to Earth in order to fight Gohan if he's not strong enough.

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
It really doesn't excuse his stupidity. It excuses the first and third examples only, he should have known that bulking up would achieve nothing and warning them not to attack him would actually be a bad idea.hleV wrote:He was desperate at that moment.Saiga wrote: Of course he is. Being desperate excuses this just fine. If I were Cell, I'd probably try everything I can as well.Saiga wrote:he should have known that bulking up would achieve nothing and warning them not to attack him would actually be a bad idea.
Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
Cell was stupid to let Gohan transform in Super Saiyan 2 in the first place.

When Gohan got injured, he lost half of his power. In their Kamehame-ha strungle, I believe that he recovered some of his power, but not all of it, yet he managed to kill Cell. So, Gohan wins easily.Mystic Gohan wrote:SSJ2 Kid Gohan vs Perfect Cell(Post Zenkai)
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
Except Cell knew that it wouldn't help. Trunks tried the same thing and it didn't work, remember? Cell even taunted Trunks about it.hleV wrote:Being desperate excuses this just fine. Not to mention Cell has Saiyan genes. It was, after all, his bright idea to try and piss Gohan off, just like it was Vegeta's bright idea to let Cell achieve his perfect form.
And didn't Vegeta try to go back to fight Cell after he woke up after getting stomped? Or was that just filler?
