You know one thing I really like? That the reason Goku is challenged is specifically because he defeated Freeza. I like the fact that Goku is renowned throughout all of space for that one accomplishment, even though it happened ages ago at this point. Tarble knew about it too, even though he was confused as to who did it. It just goes to show that Freeza was just that influential throughout the universe.

Woo-hoo for some plot info at last! But...how does a 'God of Destruction' BALANCE the universe? Unless it's the whole some things have to be destroyed to balance the creation side, or something, kind of like the soul thing in Bleach.

And oh man, if it's actually someone that beats Goku outright, at least at first, then we might really be in for a treat here. Also, Kaio-sama warning Goku NOT to take on someone, is old news, but I'm hoping it's more about a specific reason rather than 'he's too strong Goku!'

...If he's that strong though, why would a rumor about a Saiyan that defeated Freeza even be on his radar though? Why would Freeza have even been on his radar? You'd think a rumor about someone that actually beat Majin Boo would work better here...unless...hmm. Could the Freeza tidbit have anything to do with Table? He came to Earth because of that rumor too.

Whis is probably the reason he was awakened, they just aren't ready to reveal all that yet I suppose.

Majin Buu was a relatively contained incident, like with Cell. Freeza had been a tyrant over the universe for years, people will notice when he's dead. Buu on the other hand had been sealed on Earth, awakened, and then defeated within the week without ever really leaving the planet to go make himself known.

Possibly they meant he helps keep things in balance? To every yin there is a yang, and we already have the Kaioshin who rules the universe. Perhaps, and I don't wanna say Makaioshin, but B***s probably balances the underside of things.

And it's good to know that King Kai is still Dragon Balls resident worrywart. After the Kaioken he doesn't really do much other than gives the play by play and tells Goku not to do things.

Freeza is a pretty memorable villain, probably the most memorable villain in all of Dragon Ball. Cell gets referenced in other manga and anime quite a bit, though. Majin Boo is the least memorable from what I can tell, though he is quite prominent in-universe.

Yeah, but didn't Buu reign destruction across the universe a long, long time ago in the story? You'd think the god would have heard of him...but even if he has, it doesn't matter if he's heard of Buu if he hasn't heard of Buu's defeat, and that event was pretty isolated. Good point.

As far as rumors throughout the universe goes, Freeza probably is the best one for people to have heard about from Goku's past, now that I think about it.

I got it, Dragon Ball Heroes tie-in where Goku and Vegeta turn Super Saiyan 3 and fuse into SS3 Gogeta and beat Bils, then they beat SS3 Broli. CALLIN' IT RIGHT HERE.

The more I think about it, the more I think this is just a warm up for 2014 when the comic turns thirty. Another film some time in 2014 shouldn't be impossible to pull off if Toei brings on freelancers to help with the complex scenes.

In the anime...in the manga, after his whole reawakening, he blows up Earth and then goes directly to the Kaioshin Realm. It's very possible that no one other than the inhabitants of Earth and a couple of the Kaio/shin involved with the battle know what happened, with others either completely oblivious to his presence after all the time that passed from his first reign of terror, or still think he's sealed. So, if Bils awakened after Buu was defeated, who is going to tell him it happened?

Geez, it turns 30 that year? I knew the manga was older than me, but...wow. It's just hard to think sometimes that one of the most important franchises in my life has been around that much longer than I have (I'll only be 25 in 2014).

I definitely wouldn't mind seeing another film with as much care as this one seems to be getting every few years. With this one just coming out next year though, I dunno if there'd be enough of a gap in time for them to have another one ready by 2014's end even.

Why not? There was usually two movies a year during the original run, I don't see why they couldn't have another one ready by the end of 2014, especially if they start working on the plot now while the animators are, well, animating, the story they already finished...

I like that Freeza is yet again getting some love because of his power and threat level, even if it comes down to him being a measuring stick.
