If you've looking to go another level, I'd suggest throwing the Kame and Ma logos on their shirts!

The only criticism I can make is that maybe you should color the shades of their noses a darker tone of their skin, just to make it pop out more.

It's funny, 'cuz this whole time I'd been thinking that the shirt colors are right but also perfectly "blank". It'd be nice to add some further personality to it, and that just might be the winning ticket. ;p

Yeah, I like how those usually turn out. I look into them, and then OH GAWD, THE ADORABLENESS.

Aw, that's only because I ain't shaded it yet. I always wind up making the noses a different color, though.

Just a quick question, how do you make the eyes so perfectly round? (same goes for the rest of your curves, but the eyes specifically)

Nope, just practice.

When it comes to digital art, the only program/method I've had access to until recently is the MSPaint/touchpad combination. (The above drawing was done like that.) I don't know if you've ever used Paint-- or for that matter, tried to draw in binary with your laptop touchpad-- but despite being a fairly capable program it's not exactly known for its variety of options and tools. The only thing that was helpful with regard to round shapes is having done them on paper.

Now, with the tablet, I can expand into trying other programs, but the specialized tools that help with "round" I find included with them-- tools I didn't have in Paint, anyway-- are irrelevant, because drawing on the tablet is like drawing on paper. ;p

HERE is a fun example (albeit quite an old one) of drawing curves in Paint, which does absolutely take practice. You can watch the sketch unfold a step at a time, and if you're patient enough it will color and shade itself.

Recently, I've attempted to draw in pen. Solidifying lines and curves in that arena I find to be a little more challenging, given that you can't erase pen.

Thanks for responding, I might start looking into digital software to use for art now.

Also, when you draw (digital or pen/pencil), do you find your self making mistakes very often? I've been noticing how often I erase when it comes to drawing specific characters. Then again, I've been using Mr. Perfect (link below) as my mentor so maybe thats why I'm so critical.

He seems to do everything in one shot with pen and with little to no screw ups.

Also, I love that pen drawn Goten, he looks so adorably pissed.

I've always thought of mistakes as a natural part of the process.

Granted, you're bound to make less of them as you improve, but even with a character or subject I draw a lot I can still find myself erasing here and there to make little adjustments along the way.

The medium you use to draw can also have an impact on how well you draw, especially if you're unpracticed. Take, for example, my first tablet drawing ever. I'm mostly used to actual paper, so lines don't always come naturally (and in this particular instance, I simply didn't bother to correct them).



As opposed to a natural paper drawing, which I'm practiced with and have no trouble.



Practice is a big part of it, yeah, but there's plenty of other factors to consider. You mentioned having a more difficult time with some characters over others. Sure, that's natural. Just because I can pop out a Goten in just a few minutes doesn't mean that I can do the same with, say, Piccolo. The more you engage the subject, the less catastrophic mistakes you'll make and the easier it comes to you. I suppose if you become excellent enough, you can do it without making even a single mistake, but by no means has that happened with me. ^_^;

Everyone kinda knows this amazing, powerful scene.. In my opinion THE best scene in Dragon Ball history..
So I decided to make a tribute to it, not to make it better, just make it in the newer style

Bleh! The newer style, I hate it.

Big ass noses, weird necks and no friggin' collar bone, just massive pecks! It sucks and I see no charm to it.

Why don't you draw it in the older style?

@Attitudefan Well it's already in the old style, so what would be the point in redrawing it the same?

Not really. It's in the 'mid-style'. Yeah, I know, I classified it that way but it really is. It's in-between the old round sketchier style with the smaller noses/necks/jaws but big ears and the larger arms/pecs/noses/jaw etc.

The old style for me is the DB to DBZ Namek arc art style. It's very well drawn and well animated in the anime.

The big difference is the way the face is drawn and the detail in the muscles. I don't understand why people prefer the newer art as it barely resembles the original dragonball art in the manga.

So you mean you'd like the original pic of SS Goku drawn in the style that was used before it? Ok, that makes sense.

I prefer the newer style anime art because it's a lot prettier to me. I love the detail in the hair, for instance.
