Huh, that's interesting. How exactly do you apply for one? Not planning on doing it myself, just curious. Also, I'm assuming the exclusive copy that they're sending out isn't the full home release, correct?

Correct, the exclusive copies are not finalized. My copy will most likely just include the movie, nothing else.

Curious about its content, but I don't remember it being mentioned all that much after it was initially announced. I guess it could be an indication of the fact that there isn't a lot in there to speak of. Wouldn't surprise me, since I can't help but feel that a lot of the promotional stuff surrounding this movie, such as the interviews, were a little lacklustre compared to BOG.

I finally watched FnF. My thoughts:

It left me feeling a little cold. Perhaps my perception of the movie is different since I know that Super is coming and will likely retcon some of it, but I have a few complaints. I apologize if my thoughts have been covered before, but this is a long thread and I can't read all of it. Anyway, my first complaint is with the Z-fighters vs. Frieza's army. Why did the Z fighters spare all of them initially? Did they really expect that they were going to just wake up after being knocked out and somehow leave the planet? I was at least expecting Piccolo to go HAM and instagib a few hundred of them. I mean they were likely going to kill everybody on earth - I can't see the Kami of Dragon Ball just letting these guys go, much less Piccolo Diamao's son. How would these low level scumbags even be able to follow the Z-fighters moves anyway? I don't get it. How can Kuririn be forced to go on the defensive when Muten Roshi is able to hold is own? The writing makes zero sense. It felt very fillerish to me, but then it's Dragon Ball so I guess I have to suspend disbelief anyway.

Moving on. My other major complaint is Vegeta showing almost zero emotion in regard to Frieza. I was expecting, and REALLY WANTED to see that famous smirk. That shit eating grin when he's about to absolutely destroy somebody. But no, it was just a consistent look of mild disinterest. Maybe Vegeta has just matured that much that he really views Frieza as an insect to be squashed, but I mean these guys have a LONG history together. It's not as if it's just some random guy who shows up. I really was expecting to see Vegeta take a lot of satisfaction out of outclassing and beating the shit out of him. I mean yeah he's attained godhood, but where's that saiya-jin pride? And why didn't he step in sooner after Goku got a hole blown through his chest? I know he pretends to not care for Goku but they're still bros. A true saiyajin shouldn't be defeated in such a cowardly way.

Anyway, I give it a 6/10. I thought Battle of Gods had at least a little bit more dramatic tension. Roshi's disintegrating staff/cane made me laugh. The fights itself were cool (goku's one inch punch), and I liked Vegeta coming from behind and smashing Kakarot in the face. I thought it would have been better if that knocked him out and then Vegeta took over and got a little bit more of a fight. But hey I guess the whole movie can't be fan service, right?

Damn, I didn't think they would like the movie that much. Then again, ROF is pure action, and DBZ fans love fight scenes. And lots of them.

Man. After listening to that and then watching some of the dubbed scenes of movie, you really tell that Schemmel has really come a long way. And improvement in the voicing of Freeza in unreal.

I'm not sure how likely it is but I wonder if the movie will get a Rotten Tomatoes rating this time. BoG didn't because it only had 2 reviews, I suppose a certain amount is required for a percentage rating.

There's so much stuff we're behind on, but yeah. Some of the stuff from Volume "F" is already done, and some of the stuff from the Super Start Guide is already done, so we need to start getting it formatted and ready for the site... but a whole bunch of other stuff is also already or partially done... and that's in addition to the stuff that's not yet done or is actively being worked on in various states of being done or not done...

Dragon Ball is hard.

So ROF is basically Fusion Reborn 2.0. And you know what, that's perfectly fine by me. I'm still hyped.

Now with the knowledge of Super, the lack of lasting effects on the DB universe doesn't bother me anymore and the missing characters never bothered me before so if those are the only two negatives IGN can think of, thats great

I'm fine with it having a smaller cast. Battle of Gods was the first movie in a long time and it was nice to see all the characters again but most barely did anything, had a line or two at that.

RoF had a smaller cast who each did a lot more. Between having everyone and them just being in the background or half a dozen characters who take part in big battle sequences I'd pick the latter every time.
