Plus we've been fighting for this to happen legally since 1999.Kendamu wrote:DB, DBZ, DBGT, and Kai all for free... and you don't expect people to talk about it?KKZ wrote:Why is free streaming of DBZ on the Internet a big enough deal to write 14 pages about it? Re: FUNimation and Toei announce online streaming of DBZ!
For those who haven't heard yet, FUNimation addressed the issue of Canadian streaming:
Still sucks, but at least now there's clarification. I wonder if they'll ever address what the release schedule is supposed to be.Anime News Network wrote:Funimation has confirmed with ANN that despite its previous press release, which stated that the Texas-based anime distributor holds the Canadian streaming rights to Dragon Ball Z, the series will only be streamed via Hulu for now. The Hulu player only gives access to users in the United States.
A Funimation representative stated that the company does hold the Canadian streaming rights, but does not yet have "a vehicle in that region."

And if they hold the streaming rights for Canada...would they still hold DVD rights?

Sorry to bring up an old thread, however I was just on the beta Funimation website and they are no longer using Hulu, that means that Canadians like me can now watch streaming episodes!

^ The site looks great. Thanks for showing it.
I'm watching Fake Namek (with Gohan's good voice). Now I see that not only was Kai spared funny filler, but also super-action Vegeta and good-sports Goku. Meh, they weren't really like that anyway.
While I'm watching the episode, I see why they can affort to put it up like this in the first place. The quality, the music, the ads.......ughh.

I wonder why they're streaming orange bricks. Maybe it's because the Dragon Boxes are more expensive.

Because if they streamed the Dragon Boxes then
a) The point of them being "limited" would be useless.
b) It would be way easier for people to download/distribute the footage to others.
c) FUNi knows that everyone who wants to own the Season Sets has already bought them. Why do you think they're not streaming the Faulconer score? Because if they did then buying the Season Sets would be useless as a whole. This way, if people still want to have the original dub score, they have to buy it.
