BTW, I don't get why so many of you could think of Goten istead of Gohan when we know Goten looks younger then ever in Battle of Gods:
Do you guys really think the New Movie will take place 10 years (or more) after Battle of Gods ?
I really don't think so. Gohan, Piccolo and Krilin are on the poster just because they were on Namek to fight Freeza a few years before !!
rereboy wrote:KAiWAi wrote:...the last ennemy of Goku in the manga before the Toriyama's editors forced him to continue drawing Dragonball !!
That's a false rumor.
Is it ... ???

Question is, what is artistic liberty of the author and what is a fact? Because in animated work, you cannot actually measure anything.
Son Goku looks completely different in early DB and did he got plastic surgery during the DBZ? Nope, Toriyama's style changed a lot and that happened also with BOG when you look on his original sketches.
That guy in green could be Gohan or Goten or even Yamcha with ton of powder to hide his scars, who knows.

A quick thought: I'm thinking the official website will update on Friday when V-JUMP officially comes out.

DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:I kinda get the feeling that the plot will be straight-forward, like BOG, even though I really don't want it to be. I'm sure Toriyama will throw in some curve-balls and twists, but I'm really scared the movie'll be like:
Remnants of Freeza's army come to Earth. They find out about the Dragon Balls and revive Freeza. Freeza receives a power-up. Everyone fights Freeza and the new characters.
Of course, it is more than likely that this'll be the core of it, but I'm sure there'll be more fluff around the edges. BOG strayed away from the traditional formula just enough to feel different, but I want Freeza to have an actual plan, like he tries to rebuild his army or something. I guess I need to have more faith in Toriyama. He has his own spark that always prevents things from becoming generic.

This is pretty much how I feel about everything as of now. And that's one of the things I like about Toriyama, he knows how to flip the fans on their heads(for better or worse). At the end though, no one can say "I predicted that".. For the most part anyway.
It's not too late. One day, it will be.

I think the minions might have some type of equipment like Babidi's that manages to absorb Ki, Godly Ki in this case, and give it to Freeza.

Thanks ...
... time for me to update a little bit my old dusty knowledge of the serie (I'm a fan since 1989) !!

Mmmm ... no, the real question is: when this new movie will take place. If it's just right after BOG as I expect, it just can't be Goten on the poster ... no matter the artistic liberty of Toriyama. If it's 5 years or more after BOG, your suggestion could eventually be viable ...

It's most probably 3 years after BoG as that coincides with Beerus' stated awakening.

Don't know what to say about Freeza being brought back. I'll wait for more plot details.
What i'd really like from this movie is some power ups for the human characters. The difference between them and the Saiyans has been getting ridiculously big and it's a bit annoying to have so many fighter characters that are useless in battle.

If it does take place 3 years after BoG, they could make Goten and Trunks older and lampshade it
After all, Goku had a pretty drastic growth spurt in a three year timeskip. Of course, he looked older before the timeskip than he did at the beginning of DB, while Goten didn't, but you can always blame it on bad animation from Toei.

He never said that.
It was just a rumor like the one saying he wanted this story in the manga.
Really? I thought that was a direct quote in the article it says his editor loved the idea for this movie. Was it a rumor or mistranslation?
Either way, that's kind of a relief. That said, I still wouldn't be surprised if Frieza is the butt of a joke for the majority of the film before turning God-mode. It's Toriyama with full creative control, after all. Can't imagine the movie having the sort of tone the Saiyan saga, the end of the Namek saga, or majority of Android/Cell saga did.
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

I wouldn't call it a "rumor" exactly. That's what
Anime News Network wrote in their first article about the movie (and at least two subsequent posts about it), but that quote is absolutely nowhere in the original Japanese text. No clue on Earth where they conjured that up from.

KAiWAi wrote:Hi guys,
I just made this new version of the poster to compare the old Namek saga with the new movie. I especially insist on the new god's ki of Freezer completelly different then before !!
I'm pretty happy with the choice of Freeza, because he's the main vilain of the saga since he was supposed to be the last ennemy of Goku in the manga before the Toriyama's editors forced him to continue drawing Dragonball !! He is very important and he is the center of the story for many characters such as the saiyen. The gods know him as the main tyrant of the universe and even Bills mentionned him in BoG !!
By the way:
- Maybe I should have replaced Nail by the North Kaio
- I was lucky enough to quickly found all the perfect illustrations I needed to recreate the poster. For exemple, this Zarbon in the exact same position than Tagoma. Thanks to some guys from Deviantart.
- I should have called it The "F" Saga ... but now that it's done, I'm too lazy to re-open the file in PS and re-upload the poster.
- I really think the new hairstyle of (let's say carefully) "Gohan" is an obvious reference to his old hairstyle on Namek!!
- I made 2 mistakes (at least): Vegeta doesn't have this armor on Namek / I forgot to add the symbol on the Goku's gi
- I'm really shocked by the aura of Freeza on the original poster ... I think it's the main attraction of the poster with the mysterious symbol on the Goku's kimono.

I think it would be really cool if it is a kimono, but I feel it's just going to end up a dogi. I'm also really curious about that symbol. X3

No, I was thinking it was a kimono (like in DBGT).
But it's hard to tell.

GT didn't have a kimono. It's still a dogi, like in normal real life martial arts.

Mmm, ok, sorry. In my first language, french, we are using the word Kimono for the martial art "dogi " on the right.

He does have that armor on Namek. At least in the beginning.
